Real Families

5 жыл бұрын

It’s the third day in the house of tiny terrors and today focus is on behaviour training and a lot of work with the parents.
Children - and parents - learning the right way to do things.
The House of Tiny Terrors is a real house that doubles up as a clinic for three very different families with toddlers aged one to five years old. Each of the families is affected by a parenting problem; it could be sleeping, eating or bad behaviour. The house is rigged with cameras and over the course of the week, the families are monitored 24/7 by a presenter and child psychologist. Once problems have been witnessed, our expert gets to work - coaching the parents on how to interact with their child using ‘ear bug’ techniques and providing games, stunts and role-play exercises to help the families look at their issues in new ways. One week later we visit them back home to see if their lives have changed for the better.
Real Families brings you stories of modern day family life from around the world through the eyes of children, parents, and parenting experts.

Jessica Miranda is much too dramatic......everything is a huge deal. She's loud, irritable, resentful, & somewhat immature. Her behavior is giving me a knot in my stomach, so I can just imagine how those kids feel; no wonder they are so unhappy. For example, her reaction to the paints...ridiculously stressful. She needs to take it down a few notches...& hey, deal with it privately if you have an issue with your husband...don't sit there throwing out sarcastic comments to strangers for sympathy! And if she can't cope with 2 children, then take a parenting class, it's not rocket science. IMO she's making everyone miserable with her bossy, controlling, grumpy self. JMHO

tbh it makes it seem like she blames him for getting her pregnant. She takes a jab at him every moment she can regardless if its in front of their kids or strangers. she has control issues.
@SweetDreams706
@SweetDreams706 5 жыл бұрын
Azura Moonstar I so agree about the control issues. Based on what's been shown, I'm willing to bet she wants things done her way only & her husband's eventual reaction was to simply back off & leave most of the parenting in her hands, which has festered into her resentment toward him. Also ftr, I couldn't help but notice that when she's "busted", she giggles & makes excuses....however, when he neglects to do something according to her standard, he's either glared at or hollered at, with no regard for who's watching & listening (mainly the children). IMO she is the #1 problem.

I think dad is tired of his parental authority being undermined at every turn, and in front of the children. If mom wants things done in particular ways, then she should at the very least talk about it in private so her expectations are known. I don’t know why we expect our spouses to be mind readers. They need to have a united front. Even if she disagrees with something he says, she should back him up in the moment then discuss it later.

If the child is looking for attention, presents bad behavior for attention, then the parent must disconnect the child as a form of punishment.... So whether there is or isn't toys in the room, the child doesn't want to be away from their parents attention. So they associate being bad means I spend time away from mom and dad...... If the child actually is playing with toys in their room then it's a different problem......

Jaggers mother needs to put the fear of God in that kid. When she fusses at him she doesn't even look angry. She needs to show him she means business. Jessica Miranda needs to let her kids just be kids. Her reaction to the paint was ridiculous and she says they aren't mature enough to paint, well I wonder why, she wouldn't even let them feed themselves when they got there.

It seemed like the Carlemustos (sp?) were giving Justin spur-of-the-moment directions, which can be a bit abrupt for children. I've found that it's often more effective when children know what's to come - i.e. let him play outside for a few more minutes, then say "in a few minutes - or after three more turns on the slide - we're going inside to pick up the toys and change our clothes."

I really feel bad for the single mom, not because she’s single, but because of the rage in her son. I wonder how much is innate? I know she’s contributed, but, he has rage, the other kids are just angry and having tantrums, which the parents are going to learn (hopefully) how to deal with. I think Jagger needs more help than just this.
@katrinaleebaldwin4660
@katrinaleebaldwin4660 5 жыл бұрын
It's how he was raised. He has no more rage than any other kids who are raised without boundaries and limitations. He gets rewarded for that bad behavior so he continues. Does it escalates..yes and she rewards him with giving in and letting him get away with it. The easy thing it to label him as a bad child when if fact what they should be doing is labeling the parent. All children are little sociopaths to some extent and it is up to the parent to teach them what empathy and how to consider others more or at the very least at much as themselves.

I don't agree with that 'modified' time out. The last thing you do with a defiant, physical child is restrain them like that. You remove them from the situation to a quiet place so that they can learn how to calm down. And I speak from experience with my younger brother who has bipolar and ADHD.

Why do they censore the toys
@kryptoniansky
@kryptoniansky 5 жыл бұрын
It's a branding thing. They often censor toys, clothing, etc that have brands or logos on them. It's for a variety of reasons, but they're not providing sponsorship to those brands and I believe there's some legal-related reasons for censoring it too. Some of those toys are also of very recognizable characters (like from Sesame Street etc) and they can't show them. I'm not sure of the specifics, but hope that gives you an idea why. :)

I know where you're coming from, but to be fair most kids aren't like that. They aren't naturally hysterical monsters, they are trained to be that way by parents like this. I had clear cut routines and boundaries from the very beginning and my kids *NEVER* shrieked or threw even one tantrum. Ever. They slept through the night starting and about 6 weeks. They were given a huge variety of veggies as snacks and at a year and a half old loved "floor picnics" with cucumber and tomato and avocado more than anything else. They DAMN SURE never hit or bit or scratched, and they *NEVER* told an adult "no." By all means, don't have kids. I wish more people wouldn't, quite frankly. But don't let this kind of behavior be the reason. All it takes to have a good kid is a good parent
