I love how realistic this is. Not perfect, which it’s sometimes what many YT moms wrongly do. You have a beautiful family.

That was a fun, different style of video. What resource(s) are you using to read the poetry on your phone?

I’m glad you liked it! I caught the creative bug and thought I’d see how this style video would do. I was actually reading from my Kindle and the book I was reading was a year of poetry tea time by Christine Owens. It’s a great starter to poetry. She has them divided by months of the year and I’ve just been working my way through each month. Sometimes we read all she has for the month, sometimes we get to like one or none. It’s a very casual journey through the book.

What a beautiful calm homeschool day! Can I ask what your other children are doing while you are doing one-on-one time with each child? That's my biggest challenge right now.

We have “special sibling time” so whenever I’m working with one kid, the other two get special time together to play together. It’s not a perfect system, and I’m often interrupted, but it gives me enough time to get a lesson started at least. When the sibs are not having a good day (fights and attitudes and stuff;) then it’s: “find something to do and leave us be or stay on your bed until I get you” kind of thing. Sometimes I just have to let them ruin the house or make a mess so I can get lessons done. It’s always a challenge! Hope that helps 💛

What oils do you use?

Plant therapy! amzn.to/3N6hsi3 HIGHLY recommend if you’re looking for a good quality, cheaper alternative to the mlm oils out there. 👍🏼 I haven’t tried their ready made blends but my go to blend is lavender, peppermint and lemon.

Hey, I’d like a tip for review work for Classical Conversations curriculum during the day. I go over the new content seven times, every day, and I’ve been reviewing *all* of the curriculum in the book *once* a day. Which wasn’t too bad when during the first ten weeks or so, but 17 weeks in… I need to do something else. I can’t imagine going over all 24 weeks in a day.

Oh wow that is a lot of review in one day! We only review two times a day, each day we do school. Once in the morning for all the new memory work for that week. So that’s every subject. Then later in the day I’ll choose one subject to review all weeks of memory work. So for example I’ll select math, and we’ll sing and chant our way through all the songs for weeks 1-24 or to whatever week we are up to in the year. Since we only school 4 days a week, it takes us a week and a half to run through all the subjects purely for review. Here’s another way to explain: monday AM: review all subjects for week 17. Monday PM: review math only for all 17 weeks. Tuesday AM: review all subjects for week 17. Tuesday PM: review science only for all 17 weeks. Hope that makes sense!

@@sharayahmauricehomeschools That’s great, I like that. Now, for the new grammar, do you review that seven times every day, like they do during community day, or do you only review them once?

Only once!

@@sharayahmauricehomeschools Okay, that’s going to free up *alot* of time to do other things… this is my second year homeschooling, and last year we had some medical issues and while we completed the curriculum, it wasn’t the best. I’m hoping this year will be better. :) also, I’m excited to do *other* things because what we’ve been doing has been quite the drudgery.

If your homeschooling is drudgery, def change things up! You should enjoy it and your kids should too. Sounds like y’all have been doing way too much. Give yourself lots of grace and free yourself from what’s not working! Learning is fun! If it’s not, something’s gotta change. God bless you!
