Today I'm reacting to and trying some "plumbing hacks" from the KZfaq channel: 5-Minute Crafts. In some cases, I guess some of these would be considered plumbing hacks, but to be honest, most of these just seem ridiculous. Check the video and let me know what you think about these awful plumbing hacks!

There's actually other channels that have debunked these so called "hacks" videos in their respective areas of expertise. There's at least one video testing the hacks of darn near any subject that 5 Minute Crafts, Troom Troom, or any of the other well known hacks channels, of which they've dedicated videos to specific subjects. (like cooking, soap making, candle making, art, makeup and beauty, gardening, and many more). I've binge-watched these types of testing videos on a few different occasions. I'd highly recommend it. @@gamingwithalexander6030 Yup! That's the problem when you have companies in countries that don't care about copyright, trademarks, etc., making videos. Those types of content farm, clickbaity videos, don't care who they are hurting, innocent people trying their "hacks" or honest content creators trying to make an honest living using their own ideas and inventions. Notice how the a lot of the countries where such YT channels are located, are also countries where they make a lot of bootleg/ counterfeit products, and where there are a lot of phone and email scams stealing info and money from people, particularly from Americans, Canada, Aussies, and Brits. These scammers claim that those countries somehow deserve to have people of all walks of life, scammed out of their money because of the percentage of poor folks in their own country, and the fact that the countries listed above, actually have laws and regulations in place to keep workplaces safe and employees treated much more fairly.
@SpeedDemonStar

A lot of Asian countries have little or no requirements for employee safety nor employee rights, no minimum salary, and some countries even allow or even encourage employers to beat, whip, burn, or otherwise physically, psychologically, and emotionally harm employees for even simple mistakes or for not working as well or as fast as the employer wants, whether or not the demands they are placing on their employees are reasonable or even possible. They also still use slave labor, child labor, and other such practices illegal in most other countries, not to mention many of the working conditions are extremely dangerous, inhumane, and just overall horrible.

When putting a 2 liter bottle of water in your tank, check the flush on the second flush, when the tank has less water in it. When you add the bottle and flush right away, you are still using the full amount of water that the tank had originally. You might have improved the flush on that trial becuase the water is higher than it was with the original setting.

@@imark7777777 Exactly! People keep acting like making things at home is always "better", but why? Most life hack tutorials are just ways of making a shoddier product for more money. The only times these videos are helpful is when their solutions are good in a pinch and genuinely only use materials most people easily have on hand. Otherwise, if I have to go to the store to buy 20 lb of hot glue sticks, why not just go buy the think I'm trying to replicate but worse because I'm not an artisan? There are some things people can and should do DIY, but it really discounts professionals when these videos give the impression that the inexperienced novice could do just as good for a fraction of the cost.

I worked as a janitor/handyman for 6-7 years here of Finland when i was young. The area i was responsible for had approx. ~6500 tenants, meaning i got my fair share of clogged toilets to deal with during my time at that job. I remember exactly 2 toilets that didn't un-clog by pouring large bucket of water (like proper pour fast, not slowly) from the max height you can lift/reach straight into the toilet (had to take out the long wire/metal brush thingy with a crank on it for those, don't know what it is called in english). Usually with the first bucket, on rare cases needed 2. The method was so effective that i didn't even bring the plunger with me when i had a report of clogged toilet. The speed and force of the water pouring is such that it doesn't splash around the bathroom when you do it right / hit the toilet right.

I typically just use a knife. I have a few short and rather sharp ones which work for basically everything a scissors will. Could use a kitchen Knife, but those are longer, so more awkward, and more dangerous. Also, having separate set of nail clippers rather than just an extra pair of scissors seems a tad wierd IMO. But maybe they be easier to carry..

I once found a ladies wedding ring in the bathroom sink drain of a customer of mine. The couple had been fighting for over a year about the ring being lost. But after fixing the drain so it would drain properly, I asked the lady of the house if she was missing this ring and she started crying, first with exhaustion than with joy!!! I was friends with her husband and he told me about the arguments over the ring for years, so he was thankful that I didn't just plunge the sink, but I took the time to take the drain assembly apart and clean it. God is good. That ring cost $4000 originally, but it was priceless to this couple. 🙊🙈🙉

Like there was one that was like “cat on the counter, taking your food. Put duct tape with the sticky facing up on the counter:” Or “cats are being cats and interested in plants? Stick poky toothpicks so that the cat learns to stay away.” No, they’ll get hurt possibly. There’s products or alternative methods that you can help you not hurt your cat, but also teach them the lesson.

8:48 My wife and her mother swear by the baking soda + vinegar + salt + boiling water treatment. This doesn't work unless you use it weekly, and only delays the inevitable clog from hair or grease. I implored her to not pour boiling water in our sinks. Of course, one 9f the two vanity sinks in the master bathroom IMMEDIATELY cracks from thermal expansion. Turns out this was a custom size sink you can't get at a home improvement store. To replace the broken sink meant replacing both sinks, the granite counter top, and losing space under the sinks to accommodate plumbing to get to the odd placement of the drain pipe for the custom sinks. All of this, because she didn't want to wait for me to get home and spend 10 minutes unclogging one of the two sinks. In short, don't pour boiling water into porcelain sinks nor into drain pipes not intended to handle high temperatures.

Couple things: 1. With Saran wrap, it's great in case of no plunger or broken plunger. 2. COCA-COLA to clean the toilet, it's terrific to use leftover half drank bottles and prevent line or other scale, not traditional cleaning 3. DIY Drain Plug, They are great in heat of the moment situations when you move somewhere and didn't realize prior there was no plug and fyi, the filled it with hot glue but I've seen people uses silicone and shape it to the specific drain using the weight of the water and time. 4. Toothpaste in tank. If you are a crafty person, I'll do you one better, purchasing several items from the dollar store, you can make what is essentially a non bubbling or fizzing bathbomb for your tank that colors the water, deodorizes and prevents scaling. I used to make them for myself and quite a few friends and family. Some of the possible ingredients baking soda, fragrance/essential oil, food coloring ... I can't give away all my secrets. LoL While my specific recipe is somewhat guarded there are PLENTY of diy toilet tank refresher recipes online. 😉 Hope this didn't seem uppity, just trying to share things I've learned. Growing up and living in financial strain made me resourceful and I just wanted to share experiences with you and others I have had about these and others plumbing hacks. Y'know it's funny because in Australia a plumber will charge you several hundred for changing a washer in your kitchen sinks handle. The worst part is that it doesn't even fix the problem, but that's what they decided was the problem, so that's what they did and now you need to hired them again for another 30min fix that doesn't do anything and they charge you several hundred for. After spending a couple thousand they might actually get around to fixing the issue with your kitchen sink, but by that point you might as well just fix it yourself. Because fucking hell I just wanted my toilet to stop spewing brackish water onto my bathroom floor, why are you fixing the sink, ffs!?

One problem with the saran wrap is that if the water us dirty, as is often the case with a plugged toilet is that this dirty water can get pushed up into the holes the clean water cones from when the toilet is flushed, thus contaminating a part of the system that is supposed to be only dealing with clean water.

Boomers finding out about clickbait channels is a mixture of hilarious and wholesome. There's some Australian baker who also felt the need to debunk these channels and I feel like it's poetic. She debunks "making food" hacks, he debunks "post-food" hacks

This was an interesting video, and a realization that there really is a market for anything. If someone told me there was a Plumbing entertainment media with over 3 million viewers on it I would have called them crazy. Good on you Mustache Dude!

That’s the power of Southern gentlemen (and Ladies), lol. They’ll insult your entire bloodline to your face, and you’ll walk away thinking about putting them in the will.

An American who lives in Europe. I was kind of surprised at how low the water is in the toilet bowl. But it works. There are two buttons on the top of the tank one for low flow flushing, and one for high flow flushing. Each for it's own application.
