Real race car pedals for sim? Today we test out and review the OBP Esports Pro Race V2 Hydraulic Sim Pedals and see if they can handle the pressure. We compare the data between these and the VRS DFP pedals around Spa driving the Ferrari 488 GT3 using the iRacing simulator.
The OBP Pro Race V2 sim pedals feature a fully hydraulic brake master cylinder borrowed directly from OBP's motorsport shelves giving you an ultra realistic sim racing experience.
These pedals have been supplied by www.raceathome.co.uk/obppro-racev2 the UK's approved supplier for OBP, Meca Cup, and Pimax VR.
If you wish to purchase the pedals enter the discount code "Gavin" at checkout for a special SSG approved discount.

Thanks Gavin. I'm glad I watched this because I was going to upgrade my Fana V3's to these OBP's and went for the Meca's instead based on your reviews. I'd have gone for the VRS, but I could be waiting a long time for those and I'm looking to upgrade now! See you tomorrow for the Pcup at Atlanta.

You won't go wrong with the Meca's I loved them. if it wasn't for already having the VRS I would have stuck with them. But the VRS are mega. Got some HE Ultimate + on route soon for a review. that will be good to see how they stack up.

@@SmokingSteelGarage need to somehow get you a set of Simtrecs. If you emailed the company they would happily send you a set to test out as they have been doing this for other reviewers.

Hello Gavin, I had the chance to get these used on Ebay but checked your review out once again. I was looking at the Simagic P2000 but I really love the VRS and want them along with the wheelbase assuming I like them as much as the Simagic ecosystem when I test both out soon. Stay with VRS or Meca ?

Hello to have no play at start brake pedal you can use the screw behind and push de pedals in initial position, with doing that the join inside will move forward until you are in contact with liquid just before doing a pression on it ;) and miracle no more play ! and that s work with all hydro pedals because they have all that play but just some a little more then other.

Hi, thanks for the advice, but I did already try this before I shot the film, however the pushrod would not extend any further by hand, and I could not risk damaging the thread by using tools to try and force it to extend further. The problem could be resolved by fabricating a three piece adjustable pushrod that could be lengthened or shortened as required. However as mentioned I think OBP just grabbed parts from their shelves without understanding that sim pedals require more tighter tolerances than real life pedals. Thanks for the comment though!

My friends have no play. If he just rests his his foot on the brake it registers pressure

What a weird comparison to say you’re braking later because of the VRS. Doesn’t make any sense at all.

Makes perfect sense. The small amount of play in the OBS pedals on initial pressure makes it hard to gauge when the brakes are coming on. As such you lose the confidence to brake at the same points. It would take a few more hours to get fully used to it and become more settled in the initial braking phase. But there is no such drama with either VRS. Meca or the Sprints in comparison. It's all down to a poorly manufactured master cylinder. You could solve the issue by replacing it with a AP racing one. Or get a shim lathed up to reduce the play between pushrod and piston.

This is a bad review. The slack can be removed with the rod, just rotate it.

Winding the adjuster out will only move the brake pedal forward towards the driver as there is no pedal stop to hold it in position, the slack is from a poorly engineered pushrod in the master cylinder. Higher quality master cylinders (AP) have spacers fitted between the plunger, pushrod and retaining circlip that keeps everything snug and removes the play. I had them on the rig for a while and tried a lot of adjustments before making this film.
