I saw a show on TV a few years back that showed a restaurant that actually steamed burgers and cheese from a totally un cooked state. This idea lingered in my mind for two years and I finally decided to build my version of a on the trail camp steamer. Lets watch n see how it goes!

First things first... Dave these 38 minutes spent with you this week were not only some of the most informative. but also some of the most entertaining time I spent this week. Never in a million years would I think of steaming a burger patty. I wish could put into better word the difference between grilled and steamed burger. Thank you for holding onto it dream for so long and sharing it, it will probably take me that long to coming around to trying it for myself. Awesome Brother, as always!

Dave, I just want to say thank you for all the videos, info and ideas. So many people just sit on their picnic tables open boxes and basically read the instructions to whatever they have bought or been sent that particular time.....you get out and DO IT. I really enjoy watching all the teaching and the shenanigans too : ) You also even BUILD quite a bit of your own equipment which is really inspiring also...make folks want to get out and come up with their own pieces and parts and realize they don;t have to run out and spend zillions of dollars on the latest whiz bang stuff. You even cruise the thrift stores, etc... that is a GREAT resource for equipment. Anyway...thanks again for all your effort, enthusiasm, entertainment and knowledge. Keep it up man!!! : )

I drove by one of Ted’s locations today but didn’t stop. I think if you cooked a thicker burger the the same type of container that you melted the cheese in, you'd be closer to replicating how they do it. They use a mini loaf pan. Looks to be about 4”x3” and maybe 2” deep. Cooking in the loaf pan I believe keeps it sitting in its own fat while it cooks. Maybe try using a mason jar ring to keep your egg round and about the size of the burger. An awesome bushcraft adaptation though. Nicely done. From Connecticut, Tony
@Reallybigmonkey1
@Reallybigmonkey1 6 жыл бұрын
Tony that's awesome you was there and saw it! I assumed them little pans were custom made because I couldn't tell what they were from the TV show. I got pretty close for my first try but I may just try them pans. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the info and Thanks for watching

1st :P I had a ball watching this one. I wish I was there for the other patty. I swear I laughed a lot too. The fire was after you....the smoke was after you....the shell floating off down the stream. The entire video was a treat. Love the location next to the stream....the sound of the water. and man, what a deal on the binocular cases....sweet. I think I am going to try and cobble together some things to cook on and go to my favorite spot on the creek....grill some burgers and kick back. Your ingenuity is amazing.......Thanks for the inspiration.

Can't remember...... lol... old age & I just seen it about one month ago. Dang wish I could remember.. But it looks good David. My Grandma always used her iron skillet. Can't beat one of those for a good olè Hamburg & a toasted bun. Everytime I'd go to her house she would make me one of her burgers & dang they was the boom. When you toasted your bun reminded me of her. Thanks for the great video, Chris

It's a 100 yr old company that makes the steamed burgers & cheese molds & they cook it in the steamer machine. It's out of Connecticut called Ted's. I just came across it when I was watching another video. So I'm glad I found the TRUTH. Yeah!!!! Chris

Pure genius. When you think about it, you can steam just about anything. It sure would come in handy at the shore when crabbing, clamming, or fishing. Boiled seafood looses some flavor, steaming with some Old Bay...watch-out!

The best way to reheat seafood like crab legs is to break em up into sections, wrap em in damp paper towels, wrap THAT in cellophane and nuke it in the wave, on high for a couple of minutes! When and if you get dem crabs leg at dem stores an dey RED, dey already cooked! Just reheat and make some ghee...WHOOO boy! Add a little Tonys or Old bay to your butters!
