I get it. I used to work in a night shelter, and one night the police brought in a guy who'd obviously taken a hell of a beating. Turned out he was a football coach and a bunch of the kids' dads got wind that he was messing with the kids so they went to his flat, trashed it and gave him a kicking. When he arrived he said he just wanted to talk, and it was my job to cater for that. He denied any wrongdoing, but he smirked all the time, all night. He wouldn't go to bed and he just sat talking and smirking all night. I had to listen to it. He knew that I knew he was as guilty as hell and he also knew that there wasn't a thing I could do about it. He was moved out shortly afterwards, maybe just a day or two if memory serves. Fast forward a couple of years and he was in the queue at my local supermarket. He clocked me, smirked again and started chatting to a young kid and his mother as they waited to be served. He ruffled the kids hair, looked directly at me - right in the eye - and gave me that smirk again. I really wanted to punch his lights out, but obviously couldn't. My day in the sun came about five years later when I happened to see this guy at the Citizen's Advice Bureau - in a wheelchair, one leg amputated. He clocked me again, but he didn't smirk that time.

I have been a nurse for more than 40 yrs and can still remember about 20yrs ago I have to look after and care for a monster of a man who had molested a 6 yr old girl, the father of this little girl had beaten the monster up and broken both of his arms,(he was sent to prison) so you can imagine the care we had to give to him, he was disgusting and vile, and this lives with me decades later. The monster was not charged because there was not "enough evidence", instead he was given a new furnished flat away from the area. I feel for you Sam.

My Mum is a nurse. She worked at Milton Keynes hospital when Ian Huntley got sent there after he took an overdose. He had a whole ward to himself with arm police patrolling it and the helicopter was occasionally flying over. My Mum and a colleague had to go give him some medication and my mum got searched twice they took her scissors and pen off her. When she gave him his meds the police were watching her like a hawk. She said that Ian Huntley looked like a really nasty pathetic excuse of a man. She said if the police weren’t there she would of loved to messed with his cafiter and caused him as much pain as possible.

I don't live anywhere near April's town up North Wales, but I am Welsh born and bred in S. Wales. I remember how police Initially came across Bridger as a suspect. They (police) had boots on ground and eyes in the air. From the helicopter, police radioed their counterparts on the ground to ask them to go speak to Bridger because every officer in that town along every other resident were out searching for April. He was the only one who wasn't, casually walking his dog instead. There is footage from the Helicopter showing police on the ground approach him and get out and arrest him. Apparently, he drove a 4x4 and a young witness remembered seeing April get into a land rover but, and this I thought was remarkable for such a young witness to remember, they said April spoke to a man and got in his land rover on the 'wrong side' and said she got in the driver side. Well, didn't take police long to understand this when they learned Bridger drive a Land Rover 4x4. . . Left hand drive. In the whole of that county, certainly the town, that would be the one and only LR 4x4 with left hand drive. Once the police learned that's what the abductor drove, it was game over for the depraved sick piece of shit that he is.

Its funny how we remember good screws, one of the very best was a gentleman called Adrian Ismay, was a prison officer on A Wing of the crumlin road prison, he was an SO that treated us like human beings, Adrian was set up by a mate of his who planted a bomb under his car which took his life, my guess is that Adrian treated everyone the same in life and may God grant him peace in the afterlife.

I don’t know how they do that job being around absolute scum all day. Child killers, nonces, rapists etc etc. I could put up with the thieves the bank robbers etc even the drug addicts, but the ones who’ve killed kids or hurt them I couldn’t contain myself. That’s why I have such massive respect for our prison officers. They should be on way more money than they are and they deserve so much recognition that they don’t get. The police just arrest them and take them down, but it’s the prison officers who have to deal with what’s leftover..

That creature should be locked in solitary confinement for life and not allowed any letters except for immediate family. As for the women who announce their undying love for the piece of human excrement, they need mental psychiatric treatment themselves.. How a woman who may have children herself can write love letters to a monster is beyond my comprehension. It must have been a monumental task to restraint yourself from punching this child murderer, but it's what he deserves. I hope every day in prison is hell for him. Great profile of a monster. Thanks.

Actually Sam, I'd expect nothing less from you than the professionalism you showed dealing with this tosser. Being able to keep your emotions in check is often the difference between those on either side of the door. Only human that you would want to introduce him to a 'different reality' given what he's like, but well done you for being better than that. Really looking forward to your new book, congratulations on that, it's no small task to get a publishing contract these days, what with every man and his dog self-publishing and calling themselves an 'Author'. I hope you're signed up with ALCS for that extra bit of income beyond your royalties. Enjoyed your first book very much and looking forward to the new book later this year. Real narcs don't always actually end lives of people they target, but they often permanantly damage and disturb lives into changing so the person's life is ruined. It's more than agonising to see people being taken in by them. But to have to go to work and deal with that level who actually do end an innocents life, then play controlling mind games toward the grieving family, is something else. I remember chatting to an ex prison officer who worked in rehabilitation, who knew exactly what i was talking about when mentioning how real narcs of the personality disorder type play and so negatively affect people. He knew the type well, he said. You have to have your wits about you while you're around them. The fake remorse that dirt was playing before its sentancing must have been explosive within. All but a lizard or the willfully oblivious would be affected once they are aware of what that kind are and do to others.

New subscriber, saw you on Shaun Attwood's channel and enjoyed your discussion about your life and experiences in various prisons in the UK.. I'm from Sheffield originally and in the eighties did a stint in Feltham.. I live in Denmark, been here for 23 years now working as a joiner.. I turned my life around from heroin addiction and still clean.. Thanks for your service Sam, and for keeping it real.

Your vlogs are fabulous Sam so interesting. I know who Bertie Bassett is, he is such a lovely man. I only met him once. I found his wallet in a supermarket when I worked there. I think Lee Marvin ans Keira are both so amazing. All that the have both been through. I think Lee saved Keira such an Incredible story. I loved listening to Holly the Ex prison Governor. Some of the stories she told were fascinating. Keep the vlogs coming Sam. I've not missed one. No wonder you felt the way you did with The most hated prisoner. Anyone would feel the same. Dispicable Evil, sick. Scumbag x

This is the first I've seen of your clips. Very interesting stuff. It interests me because I studied English, Psychology, & Law up to A'level, though I read English at University. (which I regretted). I wish I'd studied Psychology as a degree because I always found it easy. Anyway, I thought about a career in the police, or as a prison guard, but now I think that would have been a big mistake, because I carry physical and neurological injuries from a road accident. I remember it being in the news when April went missing, it was so sad. If I had been you in that prison with the Mark Bridger, I don't think I would have been able to show the restraint that you did. An absolutely vile human being to have a sexual interest in a young and innocent girl as April was. I would have wanted to leave him in a lot of permanent pain. Bollocks in a vice would have been a good. I used to watch that Shaun Attwood's channel, but I watched another clip of another guy who'd done time, and he said some significant doubts out about Shaun (It might be spelled 'Sean') and why he didn't trust him. I'm not gonna say what he said, but after I saw that clip, I un-subbed Shaun Attwood's channel straight away.
