All these stories about these record companies scamming these black artists makes me appreciate people like Master P. He started his own label and invested. And hes still living HELLA GOOD! And his kids arent wanting for anything.

Not only record companies, their managers, attorneys and handlers stealing funds from them. It's a hot-mess.TLC got turned out the same way by Pebbles and the label they worked for. Master P has a lot of integrity, honor and fairness.

I think it falls deeper on them for signing their names to contracts they haven’t looked over. Accountability!!! no it isn’t right however if the person puts in black in white all their intentions and the artist chooses to not read it , that’s their own fault!!! let’s normalize using our brains and not being so thirsty for a deal

A lot of things happened but the main thing that killed that 90's R&B flavor was the 1996 Telecommunications act; in summary it basically killed black radio If urban divisions at these labels had no outlets to play their music, they eventually had to drop a lot of artists or fold (which is what happened!)

The saddest and most consistent thing throughout most of these updates, is that SO many incredibly talented people were blindsided by unscrupulous companies in the business, and sometimes by friends & family! So many of these young people didn't understand that FIRST rule of the music industry, which is that it is FIRST & FOREMOST a BUSINESS! Not reading contracts, not understanding contracts, not understanding the business and not having anyone looking out for their interests killed the careers of so many incredibly talented people! It's such a sad commentary. The 80s & 90s produced some fabulous artists whose careers have just gone down in flames due to shady business dealings! It's incredible that so many have been ripped apart, but only slight legislation has been enacted to stem the tide of artist exploitation! NO real meaningful legislation exists to stop record labels, even now, from taking an artist's entire body of work and walking away with it like the artist didn't even matter! I wish these ladies the best. It's sad that it comes down to lawsuits when they were all so talented!

This truly saddens me. I follow Di Reed on IG & when I heard about Jade being on the 90’s throwback tour I was EXCITED! I noticed that Di didn’t mention the tour on her IG page before news of the news dropped, but I chopped it up to there possibly being a confidentiality agreement. However, when I saw everyone BUT Di was apart of “Jade” I was floored… & of course everybody was questioning Di’s on her IG about it. She said she “wasn’t invited” to perform with Jade & that’s when I KNEW there had to be some internal issues 😔. I hope they can make amends. They really help define a great era!

This reminds me of something an old man told me years ago. He said never go back to anything in the past. It will never be the same as it was back then. Leave the past in the past. TLC and SWV have both been around for an extended period of time. After Left Eye’s passing in 2002 T-Boz and Chilli took breaks here and there but they never actually broke up. SWV broke up in 1998 but they reunited in 2005 and been together ever since. Both groups have been touring nonstop for the last 15+ years not to mention the album TLC released in 2017 and the 2 albums SWV released in 2012 and 2016. SWV also did 2 reality shows and is about to start filming a new one with Xscape next week which Kandi stated today. I’m impressed with both groups and they never replaced any members either. En Vogue had a good run too with Rhona but everyone prefers the original 4 which unfortunately I doubt will ever happen. They may reunite with Dawn and Maxine for specials but that’s about it.

It's crazy how history can shape your perspective because I was introduced to Jade from "I Wanna Love U" through the movie in Class Act. Come to find out, Don't Walk Away was their biggest hit. I also think that any and all "marketing" costs should be approved by the artist(s) BEFORE anything is spent since it is coming out of their record sales revenue on the backend. Maybe that's wishful thinking tho

Man, I'm an 80s kid but I'd still kill to return to the mid-90s. I used to think SWV and Jade were the same group (Don't ask), but One Woman was my jam. There was this friend of my sisters who LOVED these girls, and when the 54321 video came out she started copying their crop tops and braids. I always thought they were better than SWV (The only song of theirs I like is Weak) and wondered why Jade disappeared, but I hope they can sort their issues.

When I think about it I must have obviously favorite Jade over SWV is well because I had the live album the first album and my friend had the 3rd so I knew it. I still listen to Jade to the max today and the live album to help work on my own vocals and keep them up. I believe that's why I prefer SWV second album because that's the one with Lele and Taj actually singing lead on.

So let me get this straight. Di wasn’t interested in getting the group back together when they were because she was on tour, so what were they supposed to do? Wait for her? Sounds selfish to me. Now you wanna jump back in when it’s convenient for you and then sabotage their efforts because they have moved on without you? Did I get that right? If so that’s dirty and you reap what you sow.

If all three original Members are listed on and own the JADE Trademark..Whether she performs with them or not she is entitled as one of the original Members to a percentage of revenue from the group performamces..They seemingly did not want her to rejoin the trio..For whatever reasons...so they hired a talented stand in..She's still apart of the original group and the name they performing under and using collecting and making money under that name.... ..Now if the two women from that group... started a new group with the talented stand in. Created a New Singing Trio..Gave the New group a New Name altogether....They could go on and perform under that New group Name. Everywhere they go Performing as JADE under a Trademark she equally own too..even without her... They might as well just write her a Check..
