It's possibly the most important 'subject' to learn beyond the three R's, yet seems to be one of the least taught thing. I don't even know where I learned it, since was not something really on the curriculum in school ( back 30+ years ago, before www , deepfakes, 'ai' generated articles). Most of where I actually cultivated it, came from comedians like George Carlin or Bill Hicks. I seriously think a school class based around stuff like 'George Carlin on Advertising' would be more beneficial, than knowing where every country is on a globe, or what year the Battle of Hastings happened.

I was a latch key kid through the 70's and 80's. Both parents working full time jobs and by age 7 I could open a can of corn and warn it up on the gas stove. While I never did anything really wrong, I wasn't perfect. Throwing rocks at each other (kids!) I cracked a windshield. I always watch Overtime. This is the first time I have watched OT twice. This has to be the cleverest segment I have seen in years. The laser-like exchanges in the Maher-Swisher-Isgur three-way had me howling (although Maher was mostly officiating in this instance). Toss in O'Rourke's thoughtful anecdote and the 10 minutes flew by like a jet. Isgur and Swisher would do well to take their act on the road - I would definitely buy a ticket! If we truly have a consumer-driven economy, the infrastructure will be built, and the truth is, we do charge overnight mostly. It’s long trips that are very concerning. It’s a safety issue. Gov has to step in and hold electrify America accountable for their lack of upkeep and d ease of use.

I know we have to get to electric vehicles eventually, but there are quite a few things about them that need to be improved/perfected before they totally take over. If they have an $80000 price tag, I couldn't own one. And if it costs $10000 to replace the batteries after 5 years, that's another big expense. They need to make these cars affordable, safer (especially preventing battery explosions), faster charging, longer ranging, and be able to function as completely in sub-zero weather as they would in the summer. I worry that since I'm the kind of person who buys the $2500 specials off the used car lots to get me around town, that someday I'll be disenfranchised from driving because I can't afford a car to drive.

So brilliant she responds to statistical data about young men as a personal attack and replies ONLY with defensive, egotistical anecdotes? 😂Also, were you not a reader during the years she built up the false celebrity images of tech bros in the early years? 😂

I was a 90's latch key kid. It was not the end of the world I learned to take care of myself and if I did something bad then I would get the belt and trust me I learned my lesson. My mom came here legally in the late 70's and never had the time to get a college degree. It just was not needed for most jobs. She worked hard and is a survivor. For a while before the pandemic she was clearing over 6 figures a year. Now the pandemic happened and she lost her job. No one wants to pay her the same wage in which she worked so hard for all these decades. She should be enjoying her retirement at 60 like most first world countries. This has brought so much despair and her health is getting worse. Since we live in Texas none of us can get health care that's worth a damn. It not affecting just younger generations but older ones to. My mother deserve a damn reward not the bullshit she is going through now. What my mom has seen and understood is seeing me and my brother both struggle. He is gen Z son and works his ass off to hopefully become the best doctor he can be. It is going to cost him in the end $400,000 in debt! Here is a young man who works himself to the bone and if it was not for having to good parents he would be screwed. Should we charge future health care professionals $400,000 to get through med school? Also I was a brilliant student. I was one of the top students in the country and was given an IQ test. I scored high enough to go to the most prestigious school in Houston, TX but I got sick with a mental illness at 17. To this day I have been doing my best to get help and doing everything on my part to get better. I am $70,000 in debt with no college education because I kept getting kicked off my health insurance. It should not be that you where once the most promising person in your family to being almost homeless begging for a expensive doctors help. My most likely diagnosis is O.C.D. and I found an amazing place to get better for a few months but they want $60.000 and like my psychiatrist specialist they do not take insurance. What kind of shit system is that? We just feel 8 points in the Happiness score. This pure un regulated capitalism is not going to end well and that why I am moving to Finland in the fall.

Kara Swisher studied propaganda[9] and received a BS in literature and journalism from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 1984.[10] In 1985, she received her MS in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.[11] She also "spent some time" at Duke University studying misinformation and propaganda, which Swisher stated were "always my area of study".[12]

yeah there is definitely more nuance to what he mentioned, but he was talking about women driving out of state for abortion procedures, not women drivers outright. from what i've read in the texas tribune, there are actually ordinances put in place by cities on or near the interstate borders, like amarillo for instance. however, they don't actually have checkpoints or physical barriers. they're mostly meant to be discouraging scare tactics. enforced or not, these ordinances are unconstitutional either way
