@@elpapuagl7851 Wow I feel like it’s been so long 😂 I am now 21 almost 22. I stayed at the Invisalign place for a year, but since it was only part time I didn’t have any benefits and my hours weren’t that great. A year ago I switched to a general dental office working full time and it was verryyy different. It was easy with Invisalign because since it’s a specialty I only had to focus on one specific part of dentistry but the new office had everything and it felt so overwhelming and since it was very busy I had to basically teach myself everything. I wanted to quit the first week because I felt really dumb, but I am glad I stayed because now a year in I feel like I know basically everything about that office and I’ve also created a family environment with my co workers. It was really hard at first but it was worth it and I’m proud of how much I’ve grown, and I can’t complain about the pay either.

@@rachelcoimbra3629 for how long did you go to the dental assistant program? And whay subjects did you take or how does it work, if i were to choose the same path would i require vocational training too?

@@elpapuagl7851 my high school was an educational and a vocational school combined. So my freshman year we had a rotational year meaning we would go through all of the shops and then at the end choose the one we liked the most, and that was only the last class, so one hour per day. And then I choose dental, so in me sophomore year I had one block of dental and then junior year I had two blocks of dental and in my senior year I had 3 blocks of dental and also interning, meaning half of our day was taken by dental and the rest was academics classes we needed in order to graduate. Now I know that some high schools are mainly vocational so they focus more on that part, and then they also have programs outside of high school, so like a tech school and you do that either accelerated for like 6 months or two years if I’m not mistaken.

Why didn’t you stay as an on the job trainee

💗 it’s always good to have a plan during high school, but don’t stress! Check to see if your school offers a vocational training program during high school hours, that way you can see what your interested in and what path to follow, and keep watching KZfaq videos, they’ve been helping me in my decision for either field.

Well I can say that for me, it helped interning at a general office so that I could acrually see the procedures being done, and it helped it ingrave it in my mind. And also, to memorize the instruments needed, I would memorize the steps of the procedure first which made memorizing the instruments much easier :) and finally what some of my class mates did that didn’t have internships, they printed out pics of the instruments and spent time setting up for procedures doing that. Hope this helped somewhat 😅 but goodluck girl 💕💕

When you go for your exams plz plz plz thoroughly read the outline that DANB provides for each exam. Make sure to actually understand the concepts and not just memorize details. I do not recommend flash cards, instead, have a friend help you and pretend you are teaching them the topics. Once you have all of the topics in the exam outlines down, you’re guaranteed a passing score ❤️

The program wasn’t too tough. Everyone passes unless you REALLY don’t try. Atleast that’s what my teachers said. And as far as I know, everyone who I have encountered and their classmates have passed! Just make sure to manage your time 💕 good luck girl 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Nice!!!! :D what really worked for me was practicing the terms in my head. You can use index cards, and then get someone to quiz you immediately after. So you can practice memorizations. 🙃💕💕

Omg cool! XD yes but I will say, I learned most of how to do things on the job. Dental Assisting school of Kyle didn’t teach us alot of hands on things. Compared to the lead DA who went to the austin one and they were doing impressions and x rays each week 😓

Some places will let you shadow, or do sterilization without having any certification,try to do that for a a few offices so ypu can see how different offices run. Written a nice letter of interest just telling them that you are interested in this field and why and they might give you an opportunity, good luck!

Why not stay in hvac?

@@MrEpikmax it's hot. I'm in attics everyday brazzing copper together, sometimes I crawl over ductwork and insulation(super itchy) just to braze. I'm 150 soaking wet and I have to unload condensers from the bed of a truck with dolley. Get the condensers to the back of the house which can tough depending on the terrain. Then I braze the copper to the condenser and the sun just beats down on me. A sombrero helps, but you still feel the heat. Its always give people AC, but never feel AC. Plus I'm up early everyday. I do 8-10 hours a day in the sun.

@@MrEpikmax plus I got a lot of joint problems in the Marine Corps and doing HVAC just makes everything worse. I love HVAC, it's super awesome but it's exhausting. Plus doing tech work also puts you the heat. I live in central cali where it's hella hot. Triple digit HVAC work

@@MelanieLunaDiaz North Carolina to be specific and the DA1 said it also takes like 2 years to accumulate your da2 through training. Is it like that in Texas too? Which it would be quicker to do the 1 year program in my opinion if its like that

I live in NC and did a 12 week program almost 2 years ago. It was hard finding a job because I didnt meet the qualifications many employers are seeking. I had to be pretty much trained on the job, the only thing I was really able to do was xrays. I was lucky to find an employer who was willing to hire me but the pay was not what I was told while in the program. However I do enjoy my job and decided to go back to school for Hygiene. I would recommend you to look up your state requirements and go from there.

They do make enough to make a living :D IF THEY ARE SINGLE or their partner is working as well. But you have to have experience in order to get paid alot so just keep that in mind c: and yesss I totally want to stay in dentistry, I’m going to school to be a dental hygienist rn. I do want to be a part of the medical field in the future as well though, just cuz I want to be educated in those things c: THANKS FOR THE COMMENT 💕

I did externship!! I’m a DA and I worked full time also , just talk to your boss and find the best schedule that fits you ! I asked my boss for 5 days that I could make up and I worked the extern for those days ! Externship helps a lot , that’s how i got my job now at a pediatric dentist office

Congratz! And don’t worry, you shouldn’t worry about the things you can’t control, The right place will hire you 💕 I applied to many places And was feeling discouraged because many places turned me down b/c of lack of experience. But God had the right place to accept me :)

It depends where you live. I just searched up “dental Assisting school near me” and A couple popped up ranging from 10-16 weeks . If you are near the austin area, I suggest going to the dental assisting school of austin

Usually no! As long as you have a GED or High School diploma they’ll let you enroll. If you decide to do Dental Assisting in college then yes, you’ll need your basics then they’ll throw anatomy and other classes as well.

I will be making more DA videos 🤗🤗 and yes it is possible ! I am licensed. After I took my 12 week course, I had to complete a special test online through the official dental website and the test was different depending on if you already went to a course or did an online course, or other. After that I had to wait for my NBD self inquiry thing to come in the mail. Then I had to get finger prints done. And send all my necessary documents to the board. So you can get liscenced in a month after your 12 week course

It was at Dental Assisting school of Kyle :) yes it was hands on, but to a certain point. We practiced on eachother a couple times.

It has it’s pros and cons. 12 weeks gives you certification and the ability to work, but the one year definitely prepares you more tbh 😅

There’s Pasadena College I believe. They offer a dental assisting program. It looks really good! I live in Ventura County so it was too far for me. However, the program that they offer looks really good. The community college I went to did not need pre reqs for the DA program. I hope you can find a place!

Well just find what you are passionate about ^.^ there are so many options. But of course I am a little biased XD I say go for something with little education so you can see if those are what you really want to do. (Dental assistant, nurse assistant, medical assistant, real estate agent) just to name a few :3

I applied at a community college her in Nebraska where I live. You can get a diploma or an associates. Most places take a diploma. An associates is just an extra year of business classes. And a diploma is a year long. Cost for me is $7,000.

I just searched up Dental Assistant school near me and luckily there was about 4 that offered 12-16 week programs. The official NBD website should have online courses as well :) goodluck!

Ashlie B OMG THAT IS WAY TOO MUCH! not even in my community college did they charge that much! I’m not sure where you are located so I can’t really recommend places. But If you live near the austin TX area, I recommend the dental assisting school of austin. They train you hands on more and teach you the useful stuff. Pick one that is close to 13 weeks and around 3k-4k Anything more than that is too much 😓

Why would a dentist study dental assisting??? Isn't that stuff you would already know? Seems like that's going backwards unless the US doesn't recognize your Doctorate and is making you start all over.

I am a dental assistant and I can definitely support my family. There is always options to grow & level up depending on your state.
