I needed to rebuild a Red Lion RJS-100 water pump. The RJS-100 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Part 1 is just the basics of how the pump is assembled and how to take it apart for rebuilding the impeller. There are 2 parts to this tutorial. The pump rebuild was a complete success, is installed, and works perfectly! This is NOT the RJS-100-PREM.
The rebuild kit I used is the Red Lion 640161 Repair Kit for RJS-75, RJS-100 and RJC75/100

Figured it out, the new kits come with the plastic piece that I believe you said you couldn't remove. It takes a bolt head the correct size to remove.

The part that you don't know what it's for is part of the seal. The rubber and ceramic go into the housing. Then the seal goes next to it.

Great video but it started too late. I got the head bolts out but can’t get the head to come apart. I’ve hammered away but it’s not separating and I’m afraid I might bust the housing.

You are correct, but the way I did it was a mess. The manufacturer suggested using a rubber mallet and hitting around the half that is Not the motor (after I broke my cone the way I did it). It would have come apart much easier. It will take time depending on how long its been together, and you will find its not the best way to assemble one once you get it apart. I pried on the 2 parts, not realizing there was an 1/8" plate between the 2 large parts. That is where it splits. I was prying in the wrong gap. The paint completely covered the other seam! Watching both videos, you will see this thin plate where it splits.

That’s where I’m stuck. When I got the bolts out and realized that it wasn’t just going to pull apart I got on KZfaq and your video was the only rebuild that I could find. I saw yours pulled apart and where the two pieces separate but getting them apart is where I’m stuck. I guess I could try a couple screwdrivers and go in between since I have a new oring and try to pry them apart.

@@ChrisPBacon-yz6nk The 'plate' at 3:33 (middle of the screen) is sealed/painted to the part on the right of the screen. That is where you need to split the parts apart.

@@sparky5543 yeah, I see that but it’s not budging. Tomorrow I am going to try to cut that gasket and see if I can get a flathead in that groove and see if I can start prying them apart. If I get that gasket out I should be able to get some pb blaster in there. Wish me luck.

I asked for how you disassemble it and you show me how to put it back together so you had no idea how to take it apart somebody else did it for you

Reading the comments is always a great idea :) I did take mine apart, but it took me hours to get this thing apart, and even after talking to one of their reps, it took a lot more time. Seeing it go back together is the best way I have to show how it is assembled. Watching someone beat and pry on this thing for hours, with several tools, until I finally broke the inside cone would not make a good video :)
