I woke up expecting to check the result but instead it was the end of 2OT. Ended up watching two full periods of hockey!

Back in 1993 I was a bread delivery driver. I used to wake up at 12:30am and leave my house at 1am. On Friday July 2 the Phillies and Padres were scheduled to play a double header and it was supposed to start at 4: 30pm but the weather didn't cooperate. There were several lengthy rain delays and game 1 didn't end until about 1am. The league gave the go ahead to play game 2 instead of postponing it until the next day. Game 2 started at 1:30am. I had a long drive to my route so I had the game on the radio and was well into my work day when the game ended at 4:40am. To add to this crazy week, just a few days later the Phillies and Dodgers played a 20 inning marathon. Moral of the story? Sports can be fun.

I tried to watch it live. Passed out at around 5am. Woke up thinking I’d have a few minutes left to watch, how wrong I was 🤣

I was there, luckily had today off

I work at the arena (part time job) and stayed til the bitter end. Got home around 2:30, shower, eat, and in bed by about 3am. Up for work (full time job) at 6:30am. Needless to say, today was a little rough.

Oh jesus, I completely forgot about that game. For me thats when the legend of Seth Jones began. Now of course the attitude towards him has shifted a lot because of his terrible contract, but that game alone earned him a big chunk of change. Plus being stuck in Chicago during this rebuild.

The thing keeping me from cheering for the Panthers is that Vegas is by B team (sad Pens noises) but yeah Tkachuk and Bob are abslute studs and I'm scared about my misfits facing them in the final lol.

They remind me of the 92 Canadians team, that just seemed to know when and how to get the big goal.

Carolina just wasn't as aggressive and have enough muscles or stamina at the end vis a vis panthers. I think it's more how the teams are constitute but the long pause Panthers had sure helped. It looks at the end Carolina was afraid to be more aggressive and physical in the hustle in last 2 OT and the winning goal

Can confirm, that the feeling is the same either way. That was one of the best hockey games I have watched in a while, even though I didn't like the outcome. Here's to 5-6 more (hopefully not this long but you get what I mean)

Honestly per my perspective it was a very frustrating game to watch. Outside goaltending it was complete slop hockey for the most part.

@@user-ek1to4gq3h Nope. As a Canes fan myself who went to this game, it was heartbreaking but we spent most of the time in our end, repeatedly icing the puck, trying to delay the inevitable.

@@nickfenton2334 I so wanted to see a 5th OT. Yeah, Panthers definitely was more dangerous though the actual chance to score was pretty even before that. Though last 2 OT feel cane let it pass too easily and sometimes was like put more force into your shot. That last play 3 on 2 going into the zone should have not be so easy and canes shouldn't skate back so much. And that corner just go left side, or because of the less muscle, Burn didn't trust going there and instead went right, but put on more force on the reverse clear, or a milder pass softer touch to the teammate. Although a narrow moment, but at the end of the game seems Canes didn't know what to do so how they should play it and didn't trust themself to be assertive and imposing. I also would say that Bobrasky is a tad better then Andersson. When your on the backfoot and passive for some reason, not muscle or physical, your confidence is down and half a second behind. The 3 stars 1st I would give to Bob, 2nd to Andersson adn third to Tachuk, or personaly to Aho. P.S. I have to say although I like the panthers, for this series I have a more softer spot for Canes because of Brand'hamour and Staals. I was actually surprised when they showed the season total attendance when reporting on coyotes vote that Carolina are 2nd this season even more then Toronto.

This panthers team is just playing crazy good hockey, and they're so clutch too. Feels a lot like the kings.

Carolina is so much better defensively that they were simply forechecking the hell out of him creating problems for him, but as the game went on...and on....and on, he was learning to shield them using one hand. No. The Panthers have been a physical team for years. You do not remember how violent the series was between Tampa the year Tampa won their first of two Cups? Tkachuk has been a great addition, Bennett as well. But the team was not soft until this year. Coaching change has helped as well.

@@RandomPlaceHolderName only if shots are taken. if they play 80 minutes and only make another 10 saves who ever lets in the goal will have a bad SV%. or they should. the league uses goals/60 minutes. not goals/games.
