Usili Upma is one of the traditional upma made using rice, moong dal and mild spices. It’s perfect for the morning breakfast or even for dinner. For Usili Upma the rice should not be cooked mushy but just like pulao consistency. We can cook this in the pressure cooker and cook at least one whistle less than what we keep for rice. This can best served with Tomato Onion Chutney
It is a delicious and healthy breakfast dish with rice and moong dal. The rice and dal are cooked fluffy along with flavorful tempering and served with hot and spicy tomato chutney.

Raw Rice - 1 cup
Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
Water as required
Coconut Oi - 2 tbsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 spoon
Gram Dal - 1 spoon
Dry Chilli - 3 nos
Asafoetida Powder - 1/2 spoon
Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp
Curry Leaves
Salt to taste
