The first time I properly recognised when I was overdriving and fixed it, I won my first heat, coming 2nd for heats 2 and 3. In the final I got nervous and overdid it, and had to settle for 3rd to average me to 2nd. It's one of the most important things to learn for sure.

Thank you so much! I did some indoor karting recently which sparked starting into iRacing. I dusted off my old T500RS and went to town. Over driving…yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing most of the time and it spirals out of control, very self defeating. As a total noob it feels like a total miracle to figure out a track only to try and take that speed to a new circuit which leads to spinning off at every corner…loved the detail and calmness of your explanations, it resonated perfectly. Mental note: do not try to pare back time from absolute chaos, muy importante!😂

On this channel i found sticking to my passes, and just sending it, is good thing i learned , aswell this is a great topic for a video! This is what makes me slower, over driving! i get too heated. I'm learning race theory, and not just driving wins races . i have too keep my cool and not battle. Slowing down and just sticking with them till the end as cleanly as possible is the best! i can't wait to try out my new knowledge at my next local enduro race at the Houston karting complex here in Texas thanks

Hi Ryan, very logical explanations. Pretty sure I’m overdriving many times (I make all the mistakes you mentioned), but how to know by “how much” to ease on the late braking so that you don’t get into underdriving? I know that’s the “million dollar question” for finding the limit between grip and speed, but what’s the most efficient way to get there? Looking for those last 2-3 tens in a 23 second lap layout, that will put me close to poles. Thanks!

Great advice! Question is how to implement that on the track?? Being an amateur I always have a feeling that I’m to slow in comparison to most of the real “racers”… So, I’m 2-3sec off the pro drivers time and I find out that overdriving is obviously one of my problems. Biggest difference to pro”s is as you described, I’m close on the braking (and then I’m fighting the cart during the corners) while they are making big gap on the exit... So, I should brake earlier , enter the corners with less speed, and accelerate faster?? Being slower should make me a faster driver in total… Must reset my mind and references to do so. Might not be so easy! Any advice how to do that in real? Any “exercise” for practicing that?? Thanks.
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation 2 жыл бұрын
I think your problem is that you are probably not pressing the brake hard enough. You probably brake earlier than your competition already but by the apex you are faster (overdriving). Just get more comfortable using the brake more efficiently. Hit them harder

Someone asked how I could tell that Vettel was over driving at Monaco in 2018. He was concentrating on Ricciardo's ass, missing braking points and apexes and nearly crashing instead of just running his own race. If you saw that race DannyRick had a failing power unit and could have been passed by Vettel but had to settle for second place. I've done it myself on some autocross runs and you just want to kick your own ass when it happens. Good tutorial.

It's actually pretty simple. Goal is to keep the front wheels pointed in a straight line as much as possible. Sliding, constant corrections, etc. are what slow you down. Also, learning how to get away with cheating is important at the National level, if you want to run up front. But, all the dudes that do run up front, including this guy will tell you they don't cheat.
