Heh:) i got that number 2 down, when i started karting i usually didnt know that i can just go to pits every once in a while and drink water or go stretching or something so i just drove like an hour 50-70 laps and later i realized that i had lot of shoulder pain and that i can just take a brake, so tip from me dont drive nonstop too much. And amazing video thank you :))

Hi Ryan! I'm currently 17 and just started with karting, have been to 2 test days and the team I was with said I have some potential with me only sitting in the kart second time in my life and already nearly 1-1.5s off the fastest racers in my country. The main problem at my track is that Minimoto/Moto and Kart sessions switch around every 15 minutes so I can't really do endurance sessions. Second of all I asked my mechanic about whether I should try another setup for the kart so I could get a feel of it or get more comfortable with the kart itself and the answer was that I can't because first I would need to get more up to speed and then only change setups at races I would possibly attend. My question is what is your opinion in this case with setup changes? Thank you for this video and for helping out the karting community with your tips, tricks and so on! Keep up the amazing work!
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation 2 жыл бұрын
I think you should still be able to try some stuff to get a feel for it. But at the same time 1-1.5 seconds is quiet a bit of time to really feel changes in the kart. You also don't have much track time so adapting to the track itself will be a big learning curve alone. For now, just get more comfortable in the kart and try and close that gap. Once you feel you've gotten consistent, then try stuff on the kart.

Teams telling their customers that they "have potential" is the oldest trick in the book. You'll see parents throwing thousands of dollars at these teams under the impression their kids are on the fast track to Formula 1. Just be wary of it. As a newbie at 17, you're going to be racing a lot of guys who started at much younger ages. Just enjoy the process, don't break the bank and don't get too ahead of yourself.

Commonly see tired drivers at the end of an event. I do Enduro karting of races between 6 to 24 hours generally with 3 drivers per kart. So many drivers are spent by the end of their first stint of the day, stints can be up to 60 minutes each, I commonly do 55 minute stints and 3 of them in a 6hr race. Race Fitness is the key, I'm by no means the fittest person out there, but I can do the stints and at the end of the day be within a couple of tenths of my times at the start of the day.

What about tires for practice? I’ve never practiced with new tires, but would imagine it would help in learning how to prepare them for quali and races. I usually use one race old tires for practice, but tell myself the rubber on the track isn’t like a race day so it’s not really relevant. Thoughts?
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation 2 жыл бұрын
Practicing on new tires is good. At some point if the tires are too old even on a bad track, you aren’t going to learn anything. I don’t think you have to go new every practice but staying on good tires is a benefit

Going to get my own kart soon. What would your tips be to be able to get as much practice time as possible for as cheap as possible? Also how much do you think one would have to drive to catch up to the guys who have been driving since they are 8 if you are 15?
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how to make it cheaper, but catching up is different for every driver. Practice makes you a better driver so practice a lot

Recently I completed my 1st Euro level race… I started having this weird thing where I always hear a kart engine behind me, when I looked behind after the race there was no-one close enough. That same race made me realise my pace is not good until a couple laps into the race, don’t know what I keep doing wrong because I feel like I’m doing the same thing every lap. Your advice helps, but I still have a long way to go

should all brakes lock? I bought a brand new CRG chassis fully assembled from dealer and for the life of me I can't make the rear brakes lock like my old chassis? I actually feel the brakes are weak. I stand on them and they just don't feel strong
@NorbergNation
@NorbergNation 2 жыл бұрын
Yes they should be able to. Im surprised to hear that you can't do that on a CRG. I'd double check everything in the brake line. Maybe there is air in it. That doesn't seem right.
