In this part 3 video, I walk through the results of reconditioning the hybrid battery pack in the 2004 prius. We check voltage difference between modules and ensure the reconditioning was successful.

Didnt realize you're in Kansas City. I'm over in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and I do my Toyota courses over there. I'm the Toyota foreman over here too. One thing I wanted to note is that you can get block codes for as little as 0.3V difference. But it wont trip the triangle until it sees either a 0.3V difference from one cell to all other cells, or an internal resistance issue. Loved the video, keep it up!

currently experiencing this in my 2011, P0A80 code but no triangle or CEL otherwise.

So I did this and got just OK results, hoped for a little better but cells in the middle of my pack really suffered. The process took 2 weeks. I'll be thrilled if I can get another 1.5-3 years out of this battery though! Edit: after a few days of light driving my Dr. Prius battery expectancy readings got a LOT better. Battery is now in the "Good Condition" range.

Don't forget to the remove the HV battery fan and clean it thoroughly (4 or 5 screws easily remove to give you good access to the blower motor to remove fluff.) People familiar with these say that HV fan cleaning is essential to HV longevity.

I actually did do this, but I didn't make a video on it as there are plenty of other videos and didn't want to saturate.

Hey! Thanks for the video. Can you use brand new cell to replace faulty cells or it has to be same SOH as other cells? Thanks

I also have a question a year ago the hybrid system warning light appeared on my dashboard but the car starts fine and runs fine but I want it to be removed is there do you think there is a solution?

It has been 1 year and a half since you repaired and replaced the bad modules on your hybrid battery, how does it handle it right know? does it still work properly, did you get any of the faulty codes for battery again?

if the vsc light and the red triangle light is on, is it the hybrid battery that needs reconditioning

On dr prius app my shows temp 3 much higher aroind 114 other two are 100 degree can it be bus heads also car has 221000 miles

Great series of videos! I'm going to be resurrecting my battery in the very near future so I'll be following this in depth guide 👍 Just out of curiousity, how many more miles did this repaired Prius do after the traction battery work?

Hey man! I’ve been watching your videos and have been getting the red triangle of death on my 2006 Prius. I have Dr. Prius and have been clearing the battery codes: P0AA6 and P3000 until I have time to work on it. It usually runs for a week and then the codes come up again. I have done multiple tests with the dr Prius app and haven’t seen a voltage difference greater than 0.50 Volts. I live in a hot humid coastal state so I am expecting a good amount of corrosion to be the issue. Do you have any suggestions? Sadly this is my only vehicle right now so I can’t take the liberty of tinkering with it for several weeks at a time. Thanks!

Sadly the P0AA6 can be many different things. The process this person followed on prius chat is similar to what I would try. priuschat.com/threads/check-hybrid-system-p0aa6.186776/

You probably ran out of gas at some point and the battery went low on charge - faulty fuel gauge - isolate the battery and let it sit for 20 min then put the plugs back in. If that is not solving your issue monitor mpg, battery behaviour and see if they did increase or changed since you encountered the problem. Oh and monitor temp. of battery, as mentioned underneath by Cawag98 changing the air filter for the battery is often missed by non-Toyota Mechanics while servicing your car.

My 2008 Prius has 123K miles. I just go the red triangle warning. Block 10 of my hybrid battery is running at 15.21 according to the dealerships diagnostic report. The rest are running between 16.47 and 16.53. I retired six months ago and I am not driving the car five days a week as before. Do you have any knowledge of cars sitting up developing problems with their hybrid batteries? I plan to have the battery reconditioned, but if I need to drive it daily, please let me know.

My understanding is the major cause, if not the main cause, for the batteries going bad earlier in the vehicles life is due to not operating the vehicle under certain conditions to charge cycle the battery routinely. Like my at the least weekly 276K one is still on the original battery and going strong. Mostly highway and freeway miles as well.

Why do others ay 7500 capacity but you say 6500 just hit disharge rate of 5500 and charge capacity 6500. Ive seen others say charge to 7250 or 7500. What is you opinion.

With 0.22 voltage difference I think you can skip the pack balancing to as you said in the last video to 0.01V and save 16+ hours. The pack will balance from uphills and downhills.
