Have you considered building a large bat house to help with pest control? They eat around 10000 mosquitoes each per night and, with a proper collection tray, their droppings make a great fertilizer.

Retired Motorola radio tech of 30 plus years. I’ve spent a lot of time installing, servicing rooftop antenna “farms”. You got yourself a good old fashion side strike. Live and learn. Install a dedicated lightning rod out away from the compound you are building. Think flag pole. It’s not that easy. You need to install what’s called a grounding halo. Have it capacitance checked to ensure peace of mind. The bolt can hit pretty far away and just the energy field alone gets ‘ya. Once you give it a nice target to get attracted to, seal the deal and dissipate it PROPERLY into Mother Earth. Efficient energy transfer to a proper earth ground gives all that side energy a place to go to. Admit it. You wanted a flag pole anyway.

It would help if you tried native plants. If you had their natural habitat, you wouldn't need to set out the feed. I recommend wild sunflowers instead of the cultivar because they make far more flowers per plant. rudbeckia and coreopsis would also be good for the songbirds and deer. I also recommend prunus angustifolia. The deer love it. It also looks like your pond could use some wetland and aquatic plants. Your area has a ton of potential. keep up the good work. 👍

Native fruit and nut trees and shrubs from your region would be such a cool educational aspect of the pond! I grow native sunflowers in my garden here in CA and they don't even blink at adversity that would kill a seed cultivar. The gophers don't eat them but the migratory songbirds go bananas for their seeds in fall.

I don't think he gives a crap about ecology and creating a responsible wildspace. He's bought into the worldview that doesn't distinguish between native and invasive species, and clearly has more money than sense, given that he thinks it's appropriate to have pumping machinery going 24/7, tons of fertilizer thrown in, and non native Tilapia to control algae that wouldn't be a problem if there were actual plants in the pond. And I'm not sure where he got the idea that his water was murky because of algae eating plankton - that murk is algae. He doesn't seem to realise that all the problems he faces are because of excess nutrients - and his answer seems to be 'add more nutrients'. Maybe I'm being unfair to him - he does seem to appreciate wildlife, but he just doesn't know the difference between wildlife and invasive species, or understand how ecosystem works - probably because he listens to industrial fertiliser salesmen.

Hey Bama, great content as always! Just a thought on cutting the grass at the edge of the pond, my pond is 14 years old and I'm fighting a battle you can avoid. All the dead leaves, grass and pond weeds end up as organic waste at bottom of the pond. Over the years it creates a type of muck bottom that algae feeds on. I have been doing my best to keep from adding any organic waste I can because it happens naturally as well. I leave a 2 foot edge around my pond and let the plants grow, I leave the ones I like and pull the rest. I have a lot more trees so this helps with blowing leaves as well. At the end of the year I use a small mower with a bag and cut it down. Just a thought so you don't end up in the same boat as I'm in.Keep up the great work my friend.

For the feeding alarm, try a piece of steel or iron pipe suspended with a couple of inches in the water. The pipe will act like a gong, above and below the water The sound can be attenuated by using different hammers to ring it. Wood, metal and plastic could be tried until you get the sound you like. The fish won't care as long as there's bait.

This so Dope to see so many different people coming together and sharing knowledge with one another.

Sound: A classic sonar ping would be most effective! It’s easily heard and travels well through water

Why don’t you make the prawn pond brackish so they’ll spawn for you. Should be easy for a pond that small.

Ive been watching your channel since "Bass love crawfish!" around 12 years ago. You have portrayed the most growth out of almost any youtuber Ive seen in that in that time. Happy for you and the family, keep up the great work!

Take a stick and cut a saw-tooth pattern along its length. Put the stick on the dock and rub another stick along the saw-tooth. The vibration will go down through the pilings and into the water. Easy and cheap
