RECORDING STUDIO TOUR of Dan Gautreau's new studio in Scotland.

Dan Gautreau has relocated his recording studio up to Scotland. He's bought a lovely large church and with the help of top studio designer Chris Walls, he's turned it in to an amazing recording and mixing space.
In this tour you get to see a good amount of the studio but there are lots of other spaces ready for later conversion in to additional recording or production spaces. Centre of the control room is an SSL AWS 948 mixing console and main monitoring is with Barefoot monitors. A high selection of instruments and guitar pedals help make this a great creative space.

Dan Gautreau is an award-winning composer / producer / mixer who started his career at Trevor Horn’s world renowned Sarm West Studios in London. Having achieved Top 20 chart success as a songwriter, with acts such as W-inds, Anna Tsuchiya and Ben Haenow (X factor) and production / mixing credits with Multi award winning artists like Ben Howard and Paulo Nutini.
Dan divides his time by working with new artists and bands, and creating high quality production music. You can find his recent work on The Inbetweeners Movie, Delivery Man (Vince Vaughn) and high profile shows such Top Gear (BBC), Lethal Weapon (Fox) and Saturday Night Live.

I’d also love to see BEFORE photos of the church before the conversion. The entire building looks beautiful, great attention to detail. Must have had its sonic challenges. I’d like to see the outside as well. Scotland is so beautiful. Some day I’ll get there ... sending you all the very best of luck and happy sessions from Orlando, FL USA.

The town in this case is not so beautiful, but a few miles away we have some beautiful villages in land and on the coast and the famous St Andrews is just 10 miles away. The town/village has some interesting history as part of an estate which is lovely. Before shots of this church would be interesting, but if you look carefully, you will see indications of what it looked like before. The drum area sounds quite wet. Lovely having all that space to work with and control the sound.

The standard of the video is ok but if you are focusing on the gear let it be that, the owner is talking about the gear and videograhper is moving from the shot of the gear to refocus on the owner, it's like a guitarist playing an awesome solo and the cameraman is showing the crowd.

Hiya Dan, very impressive. I’m an engineer in Fife, previously worked out of a studio called Q-Ten which has now closed it’s doors, working with visitors Cora Bisset & The Wedding Present to name a few. I make & record music with the band Big Cloud & currently work with Fife Cultural Trust in their Theatres. I am wondering if there any work opportunities going in your lovely church? Fire the camera guy !!! - ever heard of “B roll” and get some actual quality shots of the studio and it’s equipment- instead of pointer the camera of someone talking- it was a nice studio obviously- shame the camera guy was crap !

Would love to ! , it is actually something they can learn very quickly - just shoot the b roll after the initial interview - get some pan shots of all the gear and space - I think your channel is great - visiting some great studios - we love this stuff - You also need to start mic ing up the person being interviewed as well as yourself - as the audio makes it difficult to hear what is being said - these things alone will take your channel to next level which you deserve :)

The Programming Room computer monitor is too small! The Control Room computer monitors are too small! It is pronounced MOH-g, not MOO-g (from Bob’s own lips). Change the white walls to something colorful - I have never been inside a UK home that did not have a colorful room - a recording studio should always feel like home. Most importantly, why is there no dust in your facility?
