Recording three amps at the same time!

A little rundown of my recording sessions with Siberian. We started with a full day just setting all the different sounds that were going on the record. Then we recorded all the foundations live with all the sounds going at the same time. A big thing in the set up was that we recorded three amps at once to get all the essential sounds down at once.

Sounded fantastic my man. I hope to get a larger room someday to be able to do more live band stuff. I did a small three-piece band in my small garage studio once and I loved the outcome. Like you said, the vibe is so great and you can hear it in the recording when everyone plays together. Great video brother.

Thanks Mike! Yeah it's hard to beat the feeling of a live recording even if it's not perfect. And you don't need huge rooms for it either even if it's nice to have =)

It’s so great to see a video where cabs are being mic’ed.. I have never played any cab simulator in a studio session that sounds right. I’ve played old Marshall’s through them, and the result is just a generic electric guitar sound with no character. Thank you so much for posting this!

Ulf, I like your work very much! In summer 2019 i was quite close to your studio (on fishing holidays) but I didn't manage to come around for a coffee... next time...

That sennheiser 441 looks sick. Not the most "workhorse" mic clip around but that mic has a tone on snares that is difficult to emulate. Very jazzy. Salutes Ulf.

Great idea, would love to know more about how the signals were split and if you had any latency issues from doing that

You can combine tuners (pedals) with multiple outputs and DIs to split the signal. There are also dedicated equipment for this purpose. JHS has very affordable splitters

Hey Ulf. Do you ever track bands with a single guitar player live who don't want to add a 2nd rhythm guitar? They only want one guitar on the recording because, " they don't have a 2nd guitarist"? How would you get the best sound for this? Multiple amps/mics? (Just recently did a band live off the floor using your way from your old studio. They sounded like 80's hardcore aka Dead Kennedys/Bad Brains etc.)

Hej Ulf! Do you have any tips on a cheap ok vocal mic? Need something to record demos with and getting something like a second sm58 etc just feels overkill in these covid, money draining times :) Thanks for yet another great video!

Just as Mansfield said, I think it's hard to find a better vocal mic for less than a Sm58 to be honest. I'm not a huge fan of cheap condensers.
