You can use an external monitor or connect to your TV with HDMI... or many times it works when you restart the laptop in recovery mode. Press command and R as soon as you hear the startup sound.

Thank you for this informative video. Unfortunately I’m still not able to fix the black screen so far. When the power is connected it does make sound & only the ESC button lights. If I shine a light on the screen I can FAINTLY see the foreign languages welcome screen but still so dark that I can’t do anything with it. 😩
