Girl we were genuinely worried about you. And I don't mean about your hair, we were worried about *you* You seemed totally crushed by what happened, and we understand since you consider your hair to be a huge part of your real life identity as well as your online identity. But while other girls who had similar experiences came back and got sponsorships by other brands while working tirelessly to rehabilite their hair, you were just quietly doing it off camera. We are happy knowing that you're still there. We are here for you emotionally, not just hair-wise. We're not just here because of hair. You can genuinely count on us to be here for you.

Yeah, Brad mondo doesn’t have a single clue how to properly take care of curly hair. Which sucks, because he speaks with such conviction and confidence it’s as if he’s actually done his so called “research” when in reality he’s just an arm chair hair stylist with no curly hair experience at all

Yup. I was a fan of him for years and almost ended up buying his products until one day I realised NONE of his videos focus on curly hair, and he's constantly talking about how brown hair is boring. I just don't feel like he cares for anyone that doesn't fit his idea of beauty.

After watching the Not So Pretty episode, I am far more concerned about the reproductive and hearing issues caused by DevaCurl/formaldehyde. Hair is important for sure, but now learning that the product appears to cause more damage than that, things women would not even dream of jeopardizing, is mind-blowing to me. How many other women have come forward with those issues?
@banaboom5942

I personally am concerned for the epigenetic risks that some of the chemicals they use in our hair care & other products are having on our children. I used DevaCurl while pregnant with my son, & his hair texture is surprising (it is similar to the “un-comb-able” hair texture that has been noticed in a few children recently in the news or on social media). I still wonder if those products some how played a role in the development & quality of my sons own hair texture.

Wouldn't be surprised sadly. They are putting lots of sketchy and dangerous chemicals in most things we use daily now and ingest. The Government and these big companies know what they are doing. The fact people put their trust in the government during covid made me pull my hair out. The real conspiracy is trusting the government to know what's best for us when all along throughout history they never truly cared but spread lies and half truths to us. Do more research and pray to our ABBA Father for guidance by his holy spirit. Jesus is coming soon for his church. It's time to awake and not be woke.

I'm 100% sure devacurl didn't cause those problems because it's pretty much impossible, and I'm actually surprised she isn't being sued for defamation :/

@@ziqrek2314 How'd you know it's impossible?
@ziqrek2314

@@goldielocks9092 I remember explaining at length when her video with the first allegations came out. Citing the studies and everything. Maybe you can still find that comment if she didn't deleted it haha. But in summary pretty much no topically applied products can cause hearing loss, period. Any hearing loss would be only temporary. Even if you suffer severe allergy reactions (anaphylaxis). There are several studies about this. There was one that showed some correlation between anaphylaxis and hearing loss on animals iirc tho. The menstrual changes could be explained by a thousand things and not specifically Devacurl, given that: 1. Menstrual cicle variates with time and age 2. It is also pretty sensible to lifestyle changes 3.Even if she could eliminate those two factors (she can't, given that at least it she used the products for a couple of years and went though a really stressful period afterwards) a lot of products on our daily lives have chemicals that could alter your hormones balance: perfumes, cookware, fragrances, mascara... you name it. I'd be close to impossible to pinpoint the exact product that caused her problems. Last but not least, it's really important to remember that Correlation ≠ Causation. If you get sunburnt every time you eat an icecream you might want to blame the icecream, but we both now that icecream don't cause sunburns the sun does. Just because two things seem related doesn't mean they are, and all the "evidence" she has showed so far is just her experience. It's just correlation at best, and straight out lies at worst. All that said, I'm not saying Devacurl is innocent but that she can't even sustain her own claims with actual proofs. Following the ice-cream example, if someone randomly started saying this-brand-of-icecream caused their sunburns and hearing loss you would expect some proof of that. And if all they showed was just medical records that they "yup, you have hearing loss and a sunburn" but no proof of relation to the icecream brand you still wouldn't believe the icecream caused it. Even if a whole bunch of people would claim the same thing. They would seem like conspiracy theorist or just people that let themselves get carried away by the hype. I hope that all that made some sense. I'm pretty sure the hearing loss is impossible, and all her other claims are just extremely hard or impossible to prove.

I am so happy to see your beautiful spirit back here on KZfaq! Girl, I found you as I discovered that when my hair was healthy, it is curly. My cousin was diagnosed with uterine cancer 3 years ago, when she shaved her head before the chemo and radiation took it, I shaved mine with her. It was only while it was growing back in that I realized that at 43 years old, my hair was not simply wavy in some spots, it has spirals, and coils and yes, the occasional wave. I wanted to keep them, and when I went looking for that other curl brand is when I found you. I stayed way back from that and have only used natural stuff on my hair since then, and although my hair can still get very heavy and start to pull the curls, coils and spirals into simple waves, that is when I know my hair is getting too heavy, or it is getting time to wash it. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your story so others don't feel alone and so those of us that are discovering our curls, don't fall to marketing gimmicks.

You are one of the many proofs that there's ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel and that you WILL get through the hardest knocks in life even if it takes years. Things will get better no matter what and you are the literal proof of that. Your strength and courage to keep going and put one foot in front of the other is very admirable indeed. I am so happy for you and I'm so very proud of you and I wish you great blessings and major positive vibes on your journey continuing forward from here. I only discovered you just as you started taking a break, but you made an impression on me with your dedication to having naturally healthy curly hair. You are intense and all-in with things, which is the stuff that activists, entrepreneurs, and people who inspire are made of. You can literally do anything that you put your mind to! I look forward to more of you. PS. I'm curious about which of the products and methods that you have been using have been the most beneficial..... but alas, I guess that it's a mystery since understandably you overlapped your testing of them. Perhaps we can guess using the scientific data that is available, but what's important is that you're making the progress that you're wanting, which is wonderful news.

hello, Ayesha! i just wanted to say i am incredibly happy for you, for finding a way to channel your stress into action, for finding peace, for taking all these steps towards healing. you may not be where you want to be right now, but you had already made so much progress! you are incredible. i had never contacted you before but i've been silently thinking of you for a long time. i am delighted to see you again and to know you are taking a good care of yourself. please take all the time you need for yourself before you feel comfortable to come back (if you decide to not come back - that's good too! whichever will be the best for you), many people are cheering for you and wishing you a wonderful life. please keep treating yourself with love and kindness! may you reach full recovery soon (both mind and hair wise)

You're so strong! I admire your patience and consistency! I've got my hair burned at a salon when I went from black to ginger and, I bought a lot of products and follow the advice of a trusted hairstylist and I just couldn't keep up I was so impatient that I chopped to the level of my jaw ... is growing back beautiful And strong but, I wish I was more patient with the recovery of my long hair ...gosh I spend so much money the hair was looking better but I'm so impatient !!!!

You are the reason I started my CG journey about 4yrs back a random KZfaq viedo popped up of u which literally changed the way I saw myself and made me fall in love with my curls. It's because of u that I am finally comfortable in my own skin. U inspired me to embrace my curls and love them. It may be a tough time that you are going through. I am sure the last few months where not easy. Stay strong there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have been checking periodically just to see if ur back. Welcome back. Stay strong. ❤ from India 🇮🇳

I am not a regular follower but I saw your story and I sat and wept for you and all those who wanted to improve themselves and fell into a rabbit hole of losses and health issues. You have no idea how much joy this brings me, especially the part when you said a ringlet formed after the protein treatment. I don't even have curly hair myself but I saw your Devacurl damage video during Covid and during the time I was depressed. Now watching where things are going just makes me so much happier to realise how life has shifted for the better. Much love sis

Thank you so much for speaking out about your own journey and encouraging us to be active in our own health. I just watched the documentary series on HBO max and was shocked to learn how atrocious the beauty industry is as a whole but am so grateful that you brought it up as I will now be consciousness about what I put on my skin, something I sadly never thought about previously.

So good to see you back!! I am going to have to try some of this. I have hair trauma besides struggling with curl pattern (incident with literally ripped out by my almost adult aged disabled child), where I have significant bald spot that hasn't regrown in over 2 years. There have been so many times I've wanted to shave it all off to start from scratch but your video gives me hope that improvement is possible.

Love this! Thank you for sharing! As a hairdresser I really can appreciate it because hair is so much more than what you learn in school! Just like you said it’s mind body and skin. You cannot neglect one and expect balance especially with hair! When someone is in my chair I’m not asking what products they use first I ask what their nutrition is like because it matters! (So do products) but your gut is the second brain

hi im so glad you have gotten so much progress with your hair. when i first watched you, i saw the damage devacurl did to your hair and i was so upset and heartbroken because you have very pretty hair. im so happy for you to see the updates and i came back every few months to check up on your channel. the first time i watched you i believed i had straight hair so i only watched in awe, now i have joined the curly hair girls as im done being in denial and i cant expressed how happy i am to see your hair in such a better health.
