In this video, I show you how to not only replicate Chris Wilder's 3-5-2 Sheffield United system, but also how to adapt it so that it will actually work in game.
Based on maintaining possession and playing on the front foot, this system is designed to create and utilise space in order to provide the man on the ball with clear passing options.
Despite this emphasis on being the active team, the system does allow for bedding into a solid, defensive shape in order to protect a lead when needed; thus blending into a 5-back.

I tried these tactics but I made a couple changes to them to allow the wide centre backs to join the attack and overlap. If you drop the RM and LM into LWB and RWB and then change the wide CBs to RB and LB, then that allows the wide centre backs to overlap. Drop the defensive width to 1 so the defence tucks in more, because with the CBs as fullbacks it makes them defend wider. Then keep the wingbacks on join attack and overlap, and the fullbacks on balanced and overlap, they won’t push up as much and they’ll swap with the wingbacks on occasion to push up, I found this really effective for dominating the wing. Maybe give it a try and let me know if you think it works.

Broma18 thanks heaps, I’ve noticed that the problem can be that you’ll get caught on the counter attack because you have two sets of fullbacks that can push up, but often one of the Wide CBs will stay back while the others push forward, it’s very good at dominating the wing play, majority of my goals came from low crosses, it’s a little bit hard to hold possession because there’s a lot less numbers in the middle of the pitch, but it seems to work great, when you figure out how to play with it, especially on the counter.

I know by now this video is 4 years old, but Ive been using this tactic on every Fifa since and in FC24 with minor tweaks due to how the games change etc. My cousin played in this team (McGoldrick) and this season was so fun to watch for the family with him finally getting into the prem and playing pretty well! Have to say thank you very much for making this as it has somewhat helped me revive this team every year! :)

Any chance you could do the tactic that OGS has recently begun using with Manchester United? It's basically a 3-4-1-2 (although his default preference has long been a 4-2-3-1, so either one would work). Would be interesting to see how you interpret that, particularly with the addition of Bruno Fernandes, who I believe will ultimately play as a 10 but may see his first action as a deeper playmaker. I absolutely love your content, man. Keep it up.

If you move the midfielders out of the way, you can the put Norwood in a central position and then move the other players back to their desired positions. Fifa just doesn’t think you can have two players in the same area, so move the cams rw/low then position cdm then just move them back. Cool video

I also find that when I put the CBs on Join the Attack that they don't actually join the attack lol. Maybe if they're set as Play as Striker?

Hi, thanks for uploading these tactics, just when I start a career mode with the sheffield, I am testing it and gradually I get used to the style of play and it makes it much more realistic to play like this. I would like to know if you give me any recommendation since I do not speak English and i didn´t understand a lot about what you talk/explain during the video. I did your peps 433 formation in my newcastle career mode and it turned newcastle in to a mini man city when i got morelos, sarr, ndombele phil foden, brandon williams my next signings are wilfred ndidi, calgar soynchyo renato sanchez ryan sessengon and ibrahima konate your 433 pep formation gave ea scrpting a run for its money and i like tiki taka playstyle and i save alot of stamina on my players ive got jose mourhinos back 5 diamond formation as my defensive aka park the bus

You pretty much smashed everything about the way we play until you said McGoldrick is a target man. Didzy is more of a number 10 and spends most of his time tracking back and drifting around the field. He probably has the most free role in the team when he plays. He can be seen dropping back to defensive midfield and out wide. He is a very skilful player and has wonderful ability on the ball. He also has the ability to find a pass. He is my favourite player at the moment. Doesn't get many goals but is a vital squad member.

@@Broma18 oh you bastard 😂😂. This gon make me look so defensive and salty but still. Sure they haven't had a decent season so far. True. No argument here. But just saying all teams have their ups and downs during the season. Some may have more wins than loses. Some may have it the other way round. I think the blades are just adjusting still to the empty stadium and just having their downs in the beginning of the season rather than the end of the season. I'm a bladesmen. Proud. Will follow them even if they go to league 2. 🙌⚔️⚔️

For sure. I think they’ll end up closer to mid table tbh. They usually start the season poorly and settle down.
