Rockstar is the prime example on why backwards compatibility is so useful, as it stops companies from rereleasing a 10+ year old game without major improvements and charge a premium to play it.

For those who still have faith in Rockstar - the company that owns Rockstar aka Take2 also owns 2K, which stands behind Mafia. Mafia is a game from 2002. It was remade in 2020 for a whooping price of $40, with completely new gameplay, one of the best graphics I saw in a triple A game, and with dedication to the story and their fans. This was done under the watch of Take2. In short, Take2 talks much less into the companies pricing and products than you think. This is purely Rockstar's laziness and greediness. I would honestly not be surprised if Rockstar went down Volition's path in the future.

But you should understand that remaking San Andreas alone in Mafia-style is unsurmountable task requiring insane amount of resources. Again, Mafia is a short linear 10 hr game. San Andreas has 100 missions, and possibly even bigger amount of side content, and a bigger world. Don't compare remaking San Andreas with remaking Mafia.

This announcement is a massive red flag how bad the port is going to be. Lets break it down. 1. No native PS5/Series X version 2. No PC version 3. Not even a Xbox One port 4. PS4 and Switch only 5. A PS4 port a decade after the PS4 even launched 6. 30fps and absolutely nothing improved Rockstar went out of their way to piss on the reputation of RDR1. This is one of those rare occasions where doing nothing would have been a better decision

That’s something Rockstar lost a looong time ago. Hangar 13 fumbled with Mafia 3 because they had take two’s hand around their throat, otherwise they had a great vision for that game, whereas ROCKSTAR have all the independence, autonomy and talent in the world and still disappoint their fans. It comes down to the fact that Rockstar is now nothing more than a corporate monster who couldn’t give two shits about its fans and only follows their next easy buck

How long do you think this took them to develop ? A day ? It's literally a patch sold $50, they've just changed the resolution and that's it, they didn't even bothered to make it run at 60fps. When you see that meanwhile some studios gives next gen upgrades for free that add new content, ray tracing, way better graphics and all that. Believe it or not, some of us are fans of them and their games and to see them go the same route as many other once-great game companies did is something we don’t want for them. So yea we’re gonna hate on a 50 dollar, half azzed port of a beloved game. If you want to support that kind of behavior OR you just genuinely don’t have a way to play it besides this then by all means go for it but a lot of us don’t want to support this kind of practice.

Rockstar hasn't stopped disappointing since Dan Houser left the company. now they squeeze their past works, which clearly leaves them money, but they lose prestige for such a practice. there is no effort or love in this strategy, only greed.😢

How? They must to do what? Make remake or maybe transfer it on other engine? RS fans don't stop to dissapoint me with thier fail in ability to think logical.

@@deusmuerte6832they could atleast remaster the game with better graphics which wouldnt be so hard to do because its a decade old game, and they could have also ported it on pc which would make it so that more people would buy it, instead of charging 50 dollars for a measly port with negligible improvements

@@deusmuerte6832 Even the bare minimum of releasing a port on every available platform would be better than what they're actually doing. Why only PS4 and Switch, two consoles that are on their way out already, where's the PC and PS5 port?

@u can just play the ps4 version on the ps5…but idk y they dont port to pc
