Josh is actually play a bass! a Fender vi, I beleive someone has already said this, but yeah it's a six string bass, and I think he plays it pretty well

For everyone wondering, in this video Josh is using a fender bass vi which is a bass with 6 strings. The strings aren't as thick as normal bass strings though. It is one octave below normal guitar and one octave above bass guitar

No. It's definitely a Bass VI. I watched and the bassline heard in the song matches up with what Josh was playing.
