@@prozacx No worries! It's very much alive! I'd say it's one of the best traditional MMOs out there right now. The game is free up to level 50 I think. I can't check right now. It also goes on sale fairly often.

Hey, it's my main from end of ARR to end-game ShB! I may have switched to DRK, but RDM will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for making a newbie-friendly video that explains abilities as they're obtained while leveling or syncing, and how best to use them prior to cap. There's precious little content like this right now, so glad to see more creators are taking notice!

out of all the guides this one was one of the easiest to understand due to starting at lvl 1. eveyone else seems to tell you "use this skill between this one and this one" and i look at it. and its lvl 60-80 and i'm sitting here in starter red mage not knowing what spell is what lol.

This was very well put together and easy to comprehend. Start to finish I was able to follow and you explained everything every step of the way which I really appreciate because a lot of guides expect you to know a lot. I just recently began to level my RDM, oh thank you for this guide, timing couldnt be any better! Theres a real need in advices on how to even begin to play a high-level jobs - SAM, RDM, DNC and GNB - because amount of new skills is frustrating and i dont even know how to set my hotbar. Especially which rotations they have on certain levels.

I'm still pretty fresh to FFXIV, I've finally beaten 2.0 and Dragoon was starting to feel a bit stale, so I picked up Red Mage and immediately thought I was doing something wrong when I kept dying. Turns out I was, so thanks a ton for the guide, it really helped me cement this class and practice the proper rotations. I'm still dying though, maybe I'm too old.

Started a couple of months back as a Lancer/Dragoon and finished ARR a few days ago at level 52. Seeing some new Jobs available I had to try a few of them out and ended up loving Red Mage the most and it will be what I use primarily in Heavensward. Thank you for the excellent guide as I have a much better understanding of how the abilities work together and how the rotation will progress as I level up. I appreciate it!

It may sound odd, but PvP helped me master my rotations the easiest. After the practice, running my roulettes became like clockwork and I was hitting big dps. Thanks for this, man!

I have found that i use enchanted reprise to adjust my mana down by 5 from 100 to unbalance the w/b mana and cast/quickcast jolt/veraero. This lets me cast scorch and get the verfire cast set up right away, but then leading me using white mana kore to catch up. Still, this is good tuning mid combat that can be done pretty much on the fly and is useful, along with spell sliding techniques to hammer away on enemies. Casting fletch and centre sixti in somewhere in there for more bursting fun. Gotta love the versatility on this class.

I was not aware of Verthunder II and Veraero II. I originally thought they were upgrades to the other ones. I also am dumb and didn't bother reading the descriptions. So.. Yeah this was helpful. My previous method has been cast Jolt II and followed with Impact for AoE.

Even if you don't think you're interested in the class, I'd suggest giving it (and all the other classes!) a try. It can't hurt to do the initial quest and fool around with the spells, y'know?

Hassan nah I’m a samurai main. Pushing past mechanics and seeing those huge numbers is what I love for. I used to use ninja but it feels so week in comparison

I'm a monk main but I have every soul crystal so far because I wanted to see everything the game has to offer. I mean you do you but trying out new classes wont hurt you. ^^ I mean you can still change to sam after trying it out. lol. But in the end it's up to you as long as you enjoy the game it's great.

I'm glad to hear my instincts have been mostly right with red mage as I've been playing. Only huge flaw is I haven't been doing melee at 80 mana and instead waiting to 100.

I think this vid combo we try to utilize the combo, cast time as much as possible. This is how I get around at 50: Acceleration > Jolt > Veraero II > Jolt > Verthunder II (you want to try proc both Verfire or Verstone from Acceleration within 20 secs of the buff). This combo give less frustration with dualcast passive to bypass long cast skill on Veraero II or Verthunder II and its proc. At the same time, get balance 80 black and white mana to utilize damage on Riposte > Zwerchhau > Redoublement combo

I was adamant on only playing a healer or tank bc of queue times… then I tried red mage again. Its so good that I don’t mind long queue times 😆 set aside a moment to read, understand, and assign your skills to a good place on the hotbar, which really can be separated by buffs/melee/procs/single+ aoe dmg. Once properly placed, you realize this is an incredibly simple job yet also highly damaging and highly versatile with verraise and verheal(??) coming very soon in your leveling. You do a STUPID amount of damage, AND can heal/Rez when needed-making you the most versatile/useful DPS possible. Tons of fun and not as overwhelming as it seems initially.

Corps-à-corps = "core-a-core" (body to body, it's when fencers make physical contact with either a body part or the hilt) Zwerchhau - tsverkh-how (German swordfighting technique that's a bit complex to go into, literally means "midday clang" which you'll agree is metal as hell) Displacement - dis-PLASS-mon (but nobody's gonna care if you say displacement the English way honestly, it's an English word too) Redoublement - ruh-DOOB-luh-mon (French for retracing one's steps) And although all the "ver" on the spell names is likely a reference to the colour vermilion, I can't help but see it as a common verb suffix from German that typically subverts the meaning of the verb. (I haven't played black mage but I'm guessing red mages' spells are almost like personalized variants, especially with how the AOEs and single targets are inverted.)

This is a lot to take in. This being my first mage job I've tried (cause rapiers are cool) the only thing I realy got down is lvl 50 hard casts and instant casts lol and I suppose obvious melee rotation.

Genuine question...what is the point of scatter? Would it not be better to alternate Verthunder II and Veraero II to build mana, rather than worrying about the extra 20 unaspected potency?

Got my rdm to 71 and so far I have to say it's one of the easiest to get into with only DRG being slightly easier. But having so much utility and saving raids from wiping is the absolute best.

So, if i buy ff14 with expansion, i can’t start the game picking to be red mage. I need to slog my way trough to lvl 50 as a fighter/monk which seems weird when the red mage has more common with a paladin/mage....

Can somone explain to me what the point of jolt and scatter is? Why not just do verareo into verthunder 2 then verthunder into verareo2? It seems to me this rotation increases both bars far quicker? Is there something im not seeing? I would love a response so this so i can play the class right

Verareo 2 and vurthunder 2 are aoe moves which deals less damage on single target.

Nice guide but i really dont understand one thing: why using jolt->verthunder->verfire->verthunder->jolt->veraero->verstone ect?in this way it unbalance the mana(11+9+11=31)?why not verthunder->verfire->veraero->verstone->verthunder?
