Red paddle are the best sup ever!

Thanks for the nice overview! I still can‘t finally decide between the Ride 10.6" and 9.8". The main usage will be on lakes and sea coasts not doing big tours and rare paddling longer distances. If the sea allows it to I'll try to catch a small wave but this will probably be the rarest situation of them all. My wife 68kg and myself 82kg are the main users and half of our riding one of our kids (5 and 8 years both between lightweight and average) will take place on the middle front of the sup. The kids themselves are not paddeling on their own yet. Since we have ridden the Decathlon Itiwit 10.7" allrounder for two years (about same width dimension as the Ride 10.6" but thicker with 15cm) to get in touch with sup paddling we are not bloody beginners any more but also no pros. Now we want to move forward towards top quality Red Paddle with remarkable thinner sups. And because a sup will be used as a family sup in these fam riding situations finally the ride 10.6" seams to be the answer. On the other hand I thought that the shorter 9.8" version could be a good compromise between the Ride 10.6" and e.g. the Sport 11.0. In this manner the Ride 9.8" could be interesting and something more agile in comparison. But I don’t know how much sense it makes when paddeling with one kid passenger of 25kg (weight increasing slowly next years) on the Ride 9.8" or even the Sport 11" or 11.3". Moreover Red Paddle specifies that the Ride 9.8" is suited for riders with a max weight of 75kg in flat water and only for heavier riders when taking it into small waves; what makes the decision even more difficult. Or maybe the Sport version is something to think about when wanting to try out something more agile after riding an allrounder (meaning to pass on wave catching)? Finally I can say that I would love to stay with a more compact and shorter size than thinking of something around 11" and and beyond (I also prefer the reduced thickness of some of Red's sups with 12cm in max). I would appreciate your help very much. Big Thanks!

If the price would be 20-30% less, I'd consider. But now Honu looks better for me. A same class, the same technologies, a same slick and minimalistic l&f, but a price is more attractive. Think about to cut your expenses.

is the 2021 and 2022 strong enough being towed by a boat or a jet ski?

Hi Judas, I can't imagine you'd have any problems. We've done it before but not something that they obviously advertise it for. I can't imagine you'd have a problem but if you're planning on doing a lot of it shoot us an email to shop@kiterepublic.com.au and we'll find out an official Red Paddle Co answer on this one for you.

@@KiteRepublicAustralia currently we are pulling canoes out in the ocean with our yachts and jet skis. I am planning to retire those canoes and replace with SUP. I specifically like Red Paddle Co because of what I saw in KZfaq being ran over by a 22 ton digger.

@@JudasBytes Comfortable there's be no issue with that. I thought you meant riding the board being the jetski ;)

@@bryllupsfotofilm Hi Walo, the glue that Red Paddle Australia recommend for this is www.whitworths.com.au/azbond-c-contact-adhesive-for-pvc-or-polyurethane-250ml or equivalent. Best of luck, let us know if you have any further questions :)

There was a time you would’ve thought I was endorsed by red I bragged about their quality so much. that ended about four years ago. The reason they now offer a five year warranty is because they have had so many boards sent back to them they needed to extend the warranty to project confidence. They are great boards if you don’t get a lemon. I’ve seen many problems in the last few years. Maybe they don’t like the salt water in Miami, I don’t know. I can tell you the biggest distributor from California admitted to me the other day they have had to send many back to them. I’ve dealt with their warranty department in Canada, they were not too friendly but this was four years ago. Maybe they are better today. If you want a truly bomb proof board that has the quality today, red used to have its HALA..

Sorry this was missed earlier. We’ve definitely not had anything like what you describe. We’re obviously not the red paddle rep in australia, it is just one of our many brands In this area but they are absolutely proving to be bombproof as well as fantastic boards and are undoubtedly the market leader in this space (quality and performance). Good luck with your paddling and hope you score plenty of time out there 👍

Hmmm, I've had 3 over the past 10 years and all of them were flawless and looked like new 5 years later. 13'2" Explorer and 10'6" Windsurfer now and both are great and still night and day nicer than most that I see other people with.
