@@eharper7 Most of the dances we do today are just renditions of dances we forgot (were forced to forget) but the stuff you see at Pow wows are mostly dances made up after the settlers came. Some were used for ceremonies but most of them were used to keep their spirits up when being oppressed by settlers.

Not this one, most modern dances we use today are just competition dances. This is called mens Fancy, mainly used to be as impressive as possible to females. We didn't dance for prayer or anything like that because that is the settlers way, not ours. Native were never religious, they were spiritual and there is a huge difference. Settlers forced most of us to become religious lunatics. Most "war" dances were just celebration for keeping settlers out of their land. Just like anyone else our people enjoyed entertainment and dancing is a form of entertainment. Everything we did wasn't always super spiritual lol

The song is about this...Lolly Vegas (the singer) tells his girlfriend that she's perfect the way she is. "What's the matter with your hair?" He asks, before explaining that there's wrong with her mind, her sign, or anything else. It's a affirmative and empowering song where he encourages her to take what she deserves: to come and get her love. I have native american roots as well. My dad told me that we are from the Nipmuc tribe in Mass. I really wish I knew more about my own roots but my dad passed so I would have to do one of those genealogy things... Great reaction FortWorthFabian. Ill be your newest sub. Btw Lolli Davis passed away in 2010 RIP

Can’t really categorize the 70’s like that. The “Top 40” radio stations played a VERY wide range. Best time ever. Teens didn’t have the weight of Vietnam and politics on our minds like the 60’s. If it was good or fun, we listened. Everything from the Eagles to the Jacksons to Aerosmith to Bee Gees to John Denver... all on one station. Check out Rubberband Man, Convoy, The Streak, Disco Duck, etc. Music was fun, creative, experimental, and open minded. MTV and music videos shut out a lot of talented artist by over prioritizing the visual. Before that, you had a hit before fans knew what you looked like. Produced the most 1 Hit Wonders. 70’s were fan driven. 1980’s on are much more commercialized and corporate driven. Tons of good stuff to discover from the 70’s.

Yes, I knew they were Native American & Mexican. i bought the 45 before I even saw them on tv ! In this song, Lolly Vegas ( the lead singer) in the song tells his girl that she's perfect the way she is. "What's the matter with your hair?" he asks, before explaining that there's nothing wrong with her mind, her sign, or anything else. It's a very affirmative song where he encourages her to take what she deserves; to come and get her love. Also check out the video "Witch Queen of New Orleans (Marie, Marie La, Voodoo, Veau)the legend of Marie Laveau, the “Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.” A black priestess of astounding beauty, Madame Laveau wielded tremendous power ! According to Urban Dictionary and Daily Rap Facts, the term redbone is used to refer to a light skinned African-American person who has light skin with red undertones

Do you know Canada has the same indigenous people United States has, except they are not illiterate about it, they identify them correclty. I am a native American, my ancestors are not indigenous to this land though. the use of the term native American is something a politician decided and well they are not always the brightest or well intentioned of the peoples.

@@native1287 I would say that where ever I go, if my ancestors were indigenous I would consider it an insult to say I am a native of a country that did not exist when my ancestor were here. I would insist that we were indigenous to the land, not a title, native, that simply means you are born in that country, it does not fully give the recognition deserved. People are so easily deceived with these redefining of words. Now I'm not a native American because some politician decided to use that term for indigenous peoples, that is absurd.
