So what did you test? That cast iron is brittle? You didn't get the press to 50t. You didn't bring in above 50t. You didn't test it to fail.

that's not solid steel its cast that's why it exploded when over stressed

I could probably break 1 1/2 cast with a sledge hammer. I'm surprised it took 30 tons.

Exactly. You didn't have the plate fully supported. What did you expect to happen? Oh, right. Wouldn't have made for any excitement if it wouldn't have blown up. This test must have been run by a movie producer.
