My experience with non dealer mechanics is that they are just oil changers. When they say log book service, which should take 3 hours and they do it in 30 mins, are bull shitters

I've got a good one for you and I'm happy to name and shame ha - Northshore VW (also tried Bill Buckle VW Brookvale and had the same response). I bought a T6 Transporter - shortly after purchase i realised there was a recall for leaking rocker cover gasket. Took it to Northshore VW approx 2 after purchase to replace rocker cover gasket. Upon receiving the car back there was a very strong smell of diesel. On inspection there was a very large diesel leak on the top of block around fuel lines above injectors. Immediately took the car back. 6 weeks later i was told all 4 injectors had failed and I would need to pay $4.5k - at my own cost - not covered under warranty. Car had less than 1000kms on it, and had driven less than 20kms since the rocker cover gasket was replaced by the dealer. VW told me they had not touched the fuel system when doing the rocker cover and insisted that, no, miraculously, all 4 injectors had failed. NOT true, as in order to remove the rocker cover, the fuel lines and injectors MUST be removed (the fuel lines are also designated single use by VW and are supposed to be replaced with new ones once removed). After nearly 5 months, and legal action, Northshore VW finally conceded (although never admitted liability) and fixed under 'good will'. The entire time was left carless and never offered a replacement/loan car. Fun times.

Back a while ago I came into a large sum of money where I could walk into a dealership and buy a new car outright with cash. In the end I bought a privately owned 15 year old secondhand car in really good nick.

Only Australia hasn't got an car industry, it only got imports cars sales industries. But I fully agree with these guys.The whole car manufacturing industry,all of them is helbend to fleece you the end user. They want you to buy a new vehicle ever 3 years,or with every midlife updates.With a few thousand dollars added.

I know of someone who purchased a car from a well-known dealer and took their car back there to be serviced, because most people think that their car will be in the best hands doing that, and when they came to collect their car and started it up, the engine made all sorts of terrible noises. They went back to the service department and explained the situation and they drove the car back to the workshop and 10 minutes later came back and said they couldn't find anything wrong. The car ran normally now. The dealership did not admit to doing anything wrong, BUT WHAT HAPPENED is that when they drained the oil, they FORGOT to put new oil in it. So when they took it back to the workshop for 10 minutes, all they did was put new oil in and it sounded and ran normally BUT WOULD NOT ADMIT TO FORGETTING TO PUT OIL IN IT. The car was only 12 months old and the engine was probably F**** because of what they did. BUT remember, take your new car back to the dealer for servicing because they are the best, most well-trained technicians to work on your new car.

That's why when ever I pick up my car from a service, the first thing I do is open the bonnet and pull the dipstick and check that there is oil in there and at the right level before I even start the engine and drive off. Have heard of a few horror stories like the one you mentioned.

@@hilbert3506I had my A-class in for transmission work at the dealership. Picked it up from the dealership and when driving down the road I went to wash the windscreen (vehicle wasn’t washed on handover)… and nothing happened, not even the noise of the pump. So I pulled into the nearest Servo to refill the washer bottle and on popping the hood, the washer bottle and the plastic covers were missing, the RHS headlight not fitted correctly and a rag left stuffed in beside the engine with a $nap-on wrench on top!!! The wrench got hidden😜… and I drove back to the dealer to question where the other half of my engine bay was!!!

I used to work a service station in the early 80’s. one of our regular customers had a Sigma. The engine in it wasn’t very healthy. I was told that it had been driven about 10km from the dealer without any engine oil. Permanent damage had been done but obviously had not shown up until after the warranty had expired. We always double checked when we serviced a car. Worst thing we ever did was “filled” the sump with its plug out. That gets noticed pretty quickly 😊

I always laugh in horror when I hear someone saying how they proudly have their car serviced at the brands dealership, wondering how many thousands they've been talked out of over their lifetime, then wondering how they never knew the first rule of car ownership.. DONT use swindler dealer service unless you absolutely have too, or oil changes only, and DONT take them at their word. This is like believing that the WHO cares about you.

I've had the dealership not torque my front wheel lug nuts and had the wheel wobbling loose on the M4... that was enough for me to learn how to service the car myself.

Yep. years ago I worked for an Organisation that kept using lots of Vauxhall products. I asked why and was told it was because it was part of the UK Government and they had to buy British. The car was being fixed, so I pointed to the plate under the bonnet where it says it was made overseas "oh, but it's a british company" - Vauxhall at the time was owned by General Motors. So it's an American car made in Spain (I think - this was 2 decades ago). If we'd been using Hondas (Swindon), Nissans (Sunderland) or Toyotas (Burnaston) they're have been providing more British jobs as all those cars are actually made here - even if they DO have Japanese brands. Oh. And we wouldn't have been having the conversation anyway as those cars wouldn't have required me to talk to the motorpool about the vehicle quite so regularly as this "british" Vauxhall did.

Great podcast guys. As the owner of an Audi S3 I can attest to the in ability of main dealer servicing. I had a windscreen replaced when it was 2 years old. I was told by the windscreen company that it needed a sensor calibrating. Audi did this but then the car would veer sharp left when the lane departure tracking was on. It took 4 trips to the dealer, each time they told they road tested the car. After a couple of days with the car they discovered the geometry was out of alignment. I have not been back to an Audi dealer again and never will.

Hello Oz! Mmmerica here. So much good stuff here in this 2 part series but the point that really yanks my chain is the concept of obsolescence and constantly trading in for an increasingly expensive replacement. I bought new in 1992 a Ford F150 5.8L V-8 truck for $18,600 OTD and I’m still driving it 270,000 miles later. Over the near quarter century I’ve owned it, I’ve replaced a radiator, 2 alternators, 2 sets of brakes, 3 sets of tires and just recently finally rebuilt the starter and replaced the solenoid out of shame. Engine and tranny are original and both have had regular fluid service. It’ll be a classic soon!

The point many struggle with in understanding the behaviour of large corporates is that their primary responsibility is not actually to the customer, but to the shareholder, as short-sighted as that might first appear to be. Customers are the means to the end of meeting shareholder expectations, but in the choice between customer and shareholder satisfaction, shareholders win.

What the company boards don’t understand is is that the shareholders should be behind the customer and the staff in importance. If all the customers disappeared at once the company would bleed to death over a short time. If all the employees disappeared at one the company would instantly be in trouble. If however all the shareholders disappeared at once meh the shares would still be there.

I once bought a used car warranty on a $6000 AU Ghia 12 years ago. To my surprise the gearbox went a few months after purchase & was fully repaired by a local mechanic paid by the warranty company.

I agree with everything you say about service intervals. I run an independent service and repair shop specialising in European vehicles. We see 3 to 5 year old cars with "dealer" service histories which need thousands of $ spending on them to fix issues. Brake fluid and coolant, never flushed and changed, 24,000 km oil changes leading to sludge, coked up inlet manifolds and throttle bodies. We recommend servicing every 6 months or 10,000kms. It might seem excessive but its what we do to all of our own loan fleet comprising a dozen cars, all of which are between 100,000 and 230,000km and between 9 and 12 years old and none of which gives us any trouble.

@@xXYellie12Xx If it's driving short distance, stop start, I'd change my oil every six months regardless. Your call though if you do it twelve months. Importantly, make sure you use a good quality synthetic oil with the correct viscosity.

You mentioned the idea of not filling the oil properly, and I just had that happen at one of the large quick service places. My wife asked why I was bothering to check the level which should make sense, but I had a nagging feeling that they did something like that and, sure enough, it was a quart low, and it definitely isn't that the car is leaking or burning oil. The best part is that I'm sure the corporate lawyers have weaseled wording into the agreement we sign that absolves them from being required to completely fill the oil. Corporations really suck for consumers. Another thing worth mentioning is that I had a third-party warranty transferred to me by a private seller, which turned out to be amazing. It really was comprehensive. Even the shop manager was surprised that they covered so much. He had begrudgingly submitted the claim, assuming they would deny it. The company was USAA, which serves military, veterans, and their eligible family members. I think they have since stopped selling extended warranties because they are too costly when you actually pay for things.

This is just brilliant Adam! You and Jim are some of my favourite and REAL motoring journalists now along with John. To see you all together chatting really is a big big deal to me! Amazing. You should also invite Simon (MGuy Australia) to join and create a real powerhouse of proper motoring and engineering common sense! I remember really ruining someone’s day who were showing off in their new Mercedes C-class and how it was German Engineering at it’s finest. I pointed out that actually his car was South African - made in Port Elizabeth. He didn’t believe me until I pointed out the VIN sticker where it clearly said ‘made in South Africa’ 😂 The look of disappointment and his reaction of anger was absolutely hilarious 😆 Fabulous video.

Speaking of cabin filters, i discovered the Toyota dealer had not re placed my cabin filter as per log book service and stated on the invoice. I complained to the manager who offered my next service free. Low and behold my next service was a major costing $1k 😂

My son recently had his Nissan Patrol serviced prior to warranty expiry. Bonnet struts still had Kimberley red dust on them, so not replaced despite dealer saying they were, and the cover for the air intake left loose, toggle clamps not applied !. Make sure you check EVERYTHING after a service ! My LC200 had the centre diff light come on on the dash, which meant no low range and no cruise control. Dealer said they could not find the fault so then suggested they just disconnect the light ! I kid you not !!

Goes the opposite way too. I had a 2013 BMW X3 30D. At 100,000km I noticed a lack of performance and decided to drop it into the local BMW (well known) specialist in Castle Hill to investigate, being told required a $3,000 fix to replace the EGR cooler on the front of the engine. Some google searches found this to be a BMW recall item. When fixed bt the dealer, they advised they are doing this multiple times a day. For a so called high profile BMW specialist to not be aware of this issue and try and lighten my wallet of $3,000 for what was a known issue, I quickly realised was not the type of people I wanted to be looking after my cars going forward.

Once worked at a dealer as an apprentice mechanic and later on I as their IT person. The front desk service team would get a commission for upselling customers on service items, and none of them had any mechanical background. Astonishing how many power steering fluid flushes would be sold at that place... when 80% of the cars sold had electric power steering...

When I was an advisor for a major manufacturer, the upsells I got a commission on came from the service tech - who also received a commission, I at least had enough knowledge to know when a bullshit recommendation was bullshit.

Got a call in 2000 from the dealership after dropping my car for a service (20,000km) - upsell for power steering fluid flush, and fuel injection cleaning. Car was 18 months old. Told them to go ahead and replace the power steering fluid ...if they could find it (hint - it had no power steering, and car was purchased new from that dealer).

I'm very happy that John talked about the environmental pollution aspect of cars, and their technological progress. It's tough being someone who studies and works in environmental science/management and also enjoys cars, because many enthusiasts are hell-bent on not understanding the wider picture of why regulations and emission controls are important. It's also great that vehicle longevity was mentioned, as I feel like many people are way too caught up in a cycle of consumerism. I drive a 14-year old car and I hope it lasts at least a decade more - no oil leaks so far, so fingers crossed!

That’s entirely the point of sustainability, making the resources we have last longer. It’s why I’m a massive public transit advocate despite my interest in cars

This is what infuriates me about people like Scotty Kilmer or Car Wizard. Like sure, you're a great mechanic with decades of experience. But you're also a complete dumbass when it comes to anything involving politics or the environment, and you're giving millions of people the wrong message because you don't know any better.

Thank euro standards for the extra long service intervals. It has zero to do with service costs, it’s 100% to do with Euro standards, as the disposal of oil contributes to a bigger hit against meeting Euro 7 etc.

Exactly it's one of the reasons for lifetime fill zf gearboxes. During the first few years of a cars life you don't take the made up environment penalty of waste oil. Zf requests you change oil in. These boxes.

I know it's not an available option for everyone, but you're exposing exactly why I never, ever, put my car in a garage for any servicing...or for any other reason. I have 3 cars, 20 yrs old each and running fine and still going strong.

Just paused @22:00 Just to say my Corolla Sportivo Hatch is still going strong & is my daily everything car & it's about to hit 300,000 Km's Built in 2003. I service most of it myself & take it to a family friends mechanic when required. A car well looked after will last a long time. Cheers.

However I don't think that your channel is helped by inviting a person filled to the brim with self prophesies and simple opinions. I service all my cars - 6 month oil changes for everyone - one Camry 7 years old, Falcon 20 Yr old, Fairmont 53 year Old - all get filters and new oil weather driven hard or not!!! We did the same on the farm when I was a kid - regular oil changes for every tractor truck car!!! SO - they all lasted thousands of hours or 100 000's kilometers!!

As per service intervals, I've already posted a comment on a similar video: EVERY SINGLE MANUAL of EVERY SINGLE car I drove, ACTUALLY states the LONG intervals are jn ideal conditions only. Each manual had an asterix next to the high mile number and if you jump to the explanation of the asterix, it basically tells you to HALF the interval if driven in one of the following: and then proceeds to name EVERY driving scenario except pure highway driving. So NO the manual not trying to fool you, it's just that people read them at a glance and the dealers don't tell you to read the fine print. I do changes twice a year, or roughly every 3.000-5.000 miles, BECAUSE my manul states to do, and never had any problems with any of my cars. Current one has been with me 15 years, since new and still drives problem free

Wifes car had a mandatory Takata airbag recall. Asked if I could do it myself to avoid the stealership (A:no), so took it to VW (Lismore NSW). They did the job & a sometime later wife is complaining about random stalling when slowing down at intersections. I changed fuel filter, scanned for codes, asked my favourite independant to look at it - no idea. Then one day I noticed the upshift paddle didn't work. Pulled air bag out to find they'd crushed the wires when doing the recall & randomly the car was trying to upshift when slowing down (hence the stalling). >12 months of my wife ear bashing me about the car misbehaving bcause the d!ck$ couldn't do a simple job properly. I fixed it myself with 2nd hand parts.

Most recycling is good. He just happened to point out the one major counter to that (plastics). Cardboard, paper, metals, and glass are all easily and efficiently recyclable. Don't let road bumps in a solution lead you down the path of apathy.

As a Hyundai tech on the Northside of Brisbane, I agree that a lot of what is said here is correct. However, I will say we can recommend customers change their cabin filter etc, but half the time they say no, even if it is completely full of dirt and leaves and all we can do is try to dust it out for them. We also have a qualified technician who is our Quality Controller and all he does is check our work when we finish the service to ensure everything is correct, right down to the service sticker. Not all dealerships are the same. Also it is getting incredibly hard to find and keep good, experienced technicians when here in Queensland you make two to three times as much money driving a coal truck in an open cut coal mine than working in a dealership. I know because I was making way more back in 2012 when I worked at Peak Downs coal mine driving a coal truck.

I was fortunate in buying a second hand vehicle from a small Used-car Dealer who offered Third-party Used-car Warranty, which I researched well before purchase. I negotiated to include a higher level of Warranty in the price, as the next level included cover for not just the basic "engine & drivetrain" but also the vehicle "running electronics" and a 3-year Warranty period. The vehicle was then serviced at Specialist Third-party Workshops since purchase in 2014. The Bosch Alternator and the Ignition Control Module both failed around the same time, and within the Warranty Period. The Warranty Company paid for BOTH items, their fault diagnosis and the fitting of new components at around $800+ each without any arguments. So there are some Reputable Third-party Warranties available, and the only "catch" to me was the requirement to have the vehicle "serviced (Oil & Oil Filter change) " and check at a Licensed Mechanic at 10k intervals instead of the factory 15k interval. So $1600+ that didn't come out of my pocket. Moral of the story as usual - DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

E39 5 series 250k and 23 years old. Do all servicing myself had it for half its life. 6 month oil changes and stay on top of all the brittle plastics in the cooling system

12:35 Legit, I bought a fully dealer serviced used Lexus and was tracing a sound in the dash, pulled out the cabin filter in case it was a stuck leaf and it was clear it hadn't been changed in a decade. That's hundreds of dollars of cabin filters that were billed and never installed in one car.

Recently changed the cabin filter of my wife's 2018 Qashqai, and I can bet London to a brick that dealers do not do that. The filter needs to be crushed to get it out and back in the small portal provided. Obviously designed to be installed prior to the assembly of the vehicle and never again.

Be careful guys - the idea that an old car lasting longer is better for emissions is not necessarily true. It feels true intuitively, but the very vast majority of a cars lifetime impact is in its use. A surprisingly small improvement in efficiency in a new car over an older one means in many cases scrapping a 10 year old and making a new more efficient one from scratch and running that for 10 years is better than running the old one for 20. So don’t automatically assume keeping an old one on the road is better. In some cases that is true, but it’s not a universal rule.

Great one gentlemen, this is one thing that is overlooked and the effects thereof is huge. This goes even to how they are allowed to give information about fuel consumption of the vehicles which is never archived in real driving and so is their towing capacities and payloads vs the actual capabilities of the vehicle. You go on about Australian Consumer Law, I can tell you it's not worth the paper it's written on. It totally relies on the manufacturer doing the right thing. If they say 'No, get stuffed', your only option is to take them to court and no one is going to do that.

This interview makes me so happy I bought a Tesla. It’s well known where Teslas are made - Fremont, Texas, Berlin or Shanghai depending on which part of the world you are. No servicing for the first 4-5 years and no dealerships to suck your money away. My previous cars start feeling old once they hit 100,000km, but for an EV it’s just par for the course and you don’t notice their age. Charging from solar means NO combustion, not even remote combustion (alright - maybe at the Sun) And the slightly more emissions used to make them are recovered within the first 2 years, thereafter being totally emissions free. People are always going to be buying new cars anyway so it might as well be an EV. Not the solution, but at least better than the alternative which was what got us into the mess in the first place.

One question I have from the 1st video, the redriven guys suggest a car can be serviced at any registered mechanics for a log book service however, codogans response didn’t seem to agree. So what do you recommend, only the dealer while under warranty or a registered mechanic??

Interesting debate from a great car channel. I can start by saying that I have multiple cars, all different fuels and number of different cylinder numbers. Been around two and four wheel transportation all my life, both as a necessity and hobby. I'm also a scientist and a follower of agnosticism over any religious or otherwise entitled beliefs for personal gratification. I do find some of my friends and others in the car community wilfully ignorant or misleading when speaking about environmental or climate impacts from human activity. One should not conflict personal interest/entitlements or beliefs with facts in debating scientific matters, there are unfortunately too many places/forums where those take place already. And also, there is no zero sum argument between Ev and Fossil fuel cars, just lower the argument bar even further. However, to paraphrase an important aspect of all ( car ) manufacturing and why we don't have things lasting forever anymore...... It's the economy stupid! On some of John Cadogan's somewhat sweeping and in some aspect false statements. There is never a justification to spread misinformation because you don't have or understand certain information, no level of disagreement or opposition justify false information. Secondly, it was and is not the main aspect of low emissions to curb lung cancer. It wasn't the car or even oil industri who came up with the cleaner fuel burn policy, on the contrary they fought it all along, remember when lead was going to be faced out from petrol? There are plentiful books and readings about that subject alone. Thirdly, the environment is not one dimension only. There is not the same comparing an EV power plant with a combustion one, so an " batteries are very dirty too" , or " what about all the child labour in the African mines" argument is a fallacy at best. All manufacturing requires some sort of resources or materials, there is a scientific rather than a religious aspect why we need to curb the use of fossil fuels, that alone will not save the environment or the finite resources on the planet, and no credible person will/have claimed that. But if we want apparatus transportation devices in every home? we have to change a tiny bit. Uncomfortable for some but hardly noticeable for the purpose of transportation for the majority. Change is mostly a mind alteration Cheers

Some of his points are good, but others are really poorly researched or not considering the bigger picture. Working out the science takes a bit of effort. Most people, including John, can’t be bothered.

It looks like a fusion between MAGA and Pauline Hanson fact land if anything. I am always very baffled at why there is so much cemented views regarding environment, medical science etc etc, based on the absolut flimsiest of hearsay and personal opinions and presented as facts? Any decent person can/ will have questions or opinions on a great deal of topics, but would be mature or humble enough to admit shortcomings of facts or details on the subject. Unfortunately people like John Cadogan is not only unhelpful, confusing and demoralising but also outright dangerous for a growing number of people who find fact checking to "boring" or "time consuming". I'm very surprised at Adam and Jim with their Redriven channel having a cross promotion with this sort of person. Reflects bad on them that any thinking person out there wanting to view, listening or educate themselves regarding cars in general is getting a scoop of BS.

Im with jim here my workshop is a bit of a mitsubishi specialist and the amount of full dealer serviced cars i see where the customer has been paying for valve adjustments and tbe dealers managed to perfectly aling the pain marks on every bolt each time.

My Diesel Outlander has just on 130000klms on it and has never had a valve adjustment, my choice. It's a little tappet rattly at cold start, very minor, but no issue when warm, sure, it's overdue but I don't trust dealerships to do it as loose valves don't cause problems like tight valves do. The Stealership says they're checked and adjusted if needed every 60000klms and they had kittens when mine hadn't been touched, then I forked out $1000 for an oil change service and transmission fluid replacement. They told me my tappets didn't need adjusting as they were not noisy at 120000klms. LOL, another money extracting scam.

Re: car manufacturing. Where the car is made/assembled often does make a substantive difference, even though many of the parts are multi-national. At the end of the day, the thoroughness of quality control reflects national strengths and weaknesses. You can see the quality difference in a Mercedes made in Mexico, vs one made in Germany. The Mazda's made in Japan are noticeably better than those made in Thailand.

How does quality control reflect a country? Quality control of a product is managed by the company! The company has total control over what employees are expected to do. It's total racist bullshit to blame that on a country and its people. When a Mercedes from Mexico is worse, Mercedes wants it to be worse. They could just fly someone over to say: "Nope, not good enough, that won't hit the road, train the staff, do it better."

For example... the Australian car industry no longer exists, because .... quite simply... we made cr*p cars. Even when they were designed well... they were made badly. The same goes for the UK. Knowing someone that works at a recycling centre the amount of recyclables that they've had to let go through they've told us about is ridiculous all because the customer only wants x product. As Hullsy and John pointed out they do shred the cars to seperate steel and other non ferrous metal from the rest of the materials but outside of that while cars are technically the most recycled consumer product in the world it has 2 of the hardest to recycle products from they auto industry or in general industries; lithium ion batteries as John said and tyres. Hopefully having guys like yourselves and John pulling back the curtain on the auto industry and getting more eyes on the problem stirs the government into implementing reforms to force the industry to clean its act up outside of EVs (but highly unlikely I know). Enjoyable and thought provoking video guys and look forward to next week's videos as per usual 👍

I drive a Ute with a German badge, built in Thailand,Japanese design engineering and French engine….anyone buying on badge image is a special kind of stupid…but I guess that’s how the world rolls these days. Me..:I knew what it was as going into it..:I brought on price because they weren’t selling to those who look no further than hilux or Ranger

Great video! The point about where cars are made is a good one - like MG is a British car, or at least has a connection to the famous British brand. I've known a guy who had that belief. On dealer servicing - I NEVER take my car to the dealer; because I do (or did) a lot of my own servicing, and the dealers are usually expensive and not a good standard. In 1975 I bought a brand new Triumph 2500 TC. The dealer I bought it at was pathetic when it came to the workshop. So I wrote to Leyland Australia and asked if the warranty would be honoured if I did my own servicing. Their answer was that, while they preferred me to go to a dealer, the warranty would be honoured provided I didn't do anything wrong - like putting oil in the radiator and water in the sump etc. So Didn't go back to the dealer again. Co-incidentally, I still have the same car - now a classic club car.

I love how you spoke about keeping the car you have and have in maintained is less pollution than purchasing the new latest and greatest. My Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ is 24 years old and in near perfect condition, it came optioned up from factory with the 242HD transfer box and LSD locking rear diff which is great for 4x4 driving. I change its oil every 5000 km and the diff and tf case oils every 50,000km. My Model S is 9 years old with still the perfectly working MCU1. With 3G being phased out, Tesla AU advised my only option was to spend $3600 on the MCU2 with the 4G LTE card. But I knew both in the US and EU/UK, there is an option to upgrade the MCI1 modem daughter board. I purchased one from the UK and installed an AU SIM, pulled out my MCU1 and installed the 4G daughter board, now the MCU1 is LTE 4G. I saved money and stopped a perfectly good working MCU1 going to scrap heap.

Epic guys, I’ve been sprouting this to so many people that criticise my aged fleet of rental cars and the Prado I tow them with that also does the school run but will hopefully last me 15-20 years as my hilux work Ute has. I had so many things I was going to comment on but I can’t type that much. But one thing I will say is at dealerships where a lot of pressure is on the “technicians” to do so much work in a day, at one I know of, the first thing they’d do is pick the cars that had done the least amount of kms since the last service and mark them down for a wash, quick test drive and a hand back with nothing else done to make sure the days quota was achieved.

Good chat. Talking about promoting longevity in design, I remember magazine ads by Volvo back in the 80s where they would have 6 pictures of Australian Volvo owners with their cars on a full page ad, with each Volvo exceeding 1,000,000kms. I think they called it the Million Kms Club? I haven't seen auto makers promote holding onto your vehicles for a while.
