Yep, got to give credit to Indian car a/c. Had a few Indian cars and trucks back in Sri Lanka and the A/C was bloody freezing in 30+ degree weather, hot sun and no window tints. Things were really reliable too probably because they use 80's tech. Also, the space in the engine bay, you could put a whole second engine in there and still have space left. For rugged bare-bones cars and bikes, India seems the best option. And yeah, you can overload the living cr*p out of them, and they'll run fine no dramas.

Best ute I have owned in 43 years of owning work utes, no stupid alarms going off ,the diff lock is unbelievable you can feel it lock in. I do 50%off road and can't fault it other then it lacks the low down power of the 1998 QD32 D22 I have had since new. I can drive from Bundaberg to Murwillumbah for 37ltrs of fuel. I did change the front hub to free wheeling as I didnt like how long they took to lock in.

I have a 2029 S10 Black Hawk. It is the best money I've ever spent on a vechile. Draws the eye of every tradie and mechanic in Tasmania, thanks Sheffield Tyre and Mechanical (Tassies only Mahindra service agent) for keeping it in tip top shape onthe road. It has no problem hauling 1T in the tray or dragging a 2,5T trailer up the hills around Launceston. Yes it has the turning circle only slightly better than a train but they can keep their Hiluxs and Rangers, this is not a show pony it is a work horse amd makes no excuses.

Farmer in SA ere, I've owned previous model mahindra 4x4 ute before. These are tough, no-nonsense work horse... will do 90% what 70 series will do and drink much less. Makes usual mid duty Utes feel like toys at much less price. But in saying this, now I have changed to 79 series because support ,part availability, mechanics are unfamiliar with it to work with ... and there are few parts in mahindra sometimes let the otherwise brilliant vehicle down... I've vowed I'd never spend money to buy 79 before , but the truth is you lose just as much with mahindra .. the resale is very bad ... with 70s v8 maybe ending ... it maybe actually smart investment for a vehicle.

I’ve been a member of the Facebook Mahindra owners club. I was very interested in the Pik-up, but the things drawing me back was the lack of parts in Australia, and some of the dealer issues. My conclusion is: if you have another car already, go for it, but as a sole vehicle, no. The diff locks are great, the engines are superb, it’s barebones and solid, but it’s being let down by the lack of parts and dealers.

The turning circle is the same as a Land Rover Defender, live with it. The center bearing failures are helped along by the crap pre delivery where the under body is sprayed with a thick bituminous goo. They spray everything, underbody, tail shafts, exhaust. The runs hanging of the tailshaft were near 5MM thick and made it massively out of balance. I got under mine and cleaned it off with degreaser and paper towels, vibrations gone.

I was considering the Mahindra ute a couple of years ago, but the closest dealer was 200kms away. And spare parts availability may not be the only issue. I have a GWM ute, and it needs some special tools. This is not unusual in modern vehicles until you find out that Great Wall will NOT sell special tools to the public, and even independent mechanics. There are exceptions, because RAC workshops can apparently get them, but some small one mechanic garage on the other side of Dingo Piss creek may have problems. However, this is an Indian and not a Chinese vehicle, and given that vast subcontinent it would surely be commercial suicide for Marhindra to require local Indian mechanics to equip themselves with thousands of dollars worth of special tools in addition to all the normal/generic tools sets that the average mechanic has to invest in. With some special tools it is good to "think outside the square". I needed a front bearing retainer tool, and as I said, GWM told me to get lost. So knowing that vehicle makers tend to steal each others designs, I got one from another brand of truck that looked mechanically the same, and bought that tool. Five minutes with a file, and I was able to use the tool, and solve the problem. The half a million K's is impressive, and so is the price/value for money. Probably worth investing in a few spare parts ahead of time, and a workshop manual. Again, GWM, in their wisdom, would not sell me a workshop manual, so this is yet another disincentive to investing in a non-mainstream brand of vehicle. Marhindra might however, and if I was serious I would certainly inquire about getting one. Most of the common makes and models of vehicles have workshop manuals in stores like Supercheap Auto stores and the like.

Missed some bits, common parts oil, air, fuel and cabin filters, wheel bearings, centre bearing, suspension, free wheeling hubs and brakes are all available (if you own one and know a service is coming up order first simple). Turning circle is large due to the fact if you allow the front wheels to overturn you chew out your cv's, dont care about cv's then adjust the end stop bolts and half the turning circle. Towing capacity is about were all ute's should be, anyone stupid enough to drag 3.5 tonne (realm of F250, Chev Silverado 3500 or Dodge Ram 2500) around with with a sub 3lt motor and a gross weight of under 2 tonnes is a fool with more money than cense and is looking at a new ute every year. Example of carrying capacity My S10+ 1067kg in the well back, Dodge Ram 1500 big truck tow lots if you own a service station 940kg.

a more decisive comparison would have been the Toyota Hilux Double Cab (even the Raider model), the Nissan NP300 Double Cab, the Ford F150 and the Ford Ranger Double Cab vs the Mahindra new all pickups feel and work great - now live and work with those same vehicles for a decade or 300,000 km then we talk again the outcome will be far different if the vehicles would perform the same comparison my prediction is that if those pickups were used as real workhorses and not as a mere city-boy mode of transport with occasional loads and on bad road surfaces and regular dirt roads and farm roads that the Mahindra won't even be around at that point and the fords would have underwent either tons of mechanical upkeep or possibly repairs while the japanese pickups would still be fine also remember Toyota is bringing out a $10,000 pickup truck that will also later be available in double cab and 4x4 models, so the price mention now largely becomes a negative for mahindra who simply took a sub $10k vehicle and tried to sell it cheaper but very near the main brand pickup trucks in fact in South Africa a mahindra, chinese pickups and other garbage pickups are now sold at only a minor price difference from the Japanese main brands, why would I buy a Mahindra if I can have a Toyota Hilux Double Cab for the same price? And if anyone wonders exactly how a japanese pickup truck differs from anything else, go view the topgear episode where they team tried to destroy an old diesel toyota hilux - as for local experience myself, I owned a mahindra and it had one mechanical failure after the other throughout the warranty period and we later had to resort to the courts to force a refund, other rural owners I encountered share similar horror stories, a business I deal with on a monthly basis have a whole fleet of both the regular Mahindra pickups and the purely commercial ones and they confess to the same problem, but their solution is to trade in each mahindra after 11 months for a new one at the dealership to avoid repair and warranty wars. If you plan on replacing your pickup each year. Buy a mahindra. If you plan on buying one pickup that has to last because there won't be funds for a very long time to see to a replacement, then buy japanese I replaced my new and refunded mahindra commercial single cab LWB with a used Nissan Hardbody single cab LBW (that pre-dates the Nissan NP300 which was it's new model during the time I bought the mahindra), at the time I purchased the nissan hardbody it was already 6 years old. My used nissan hardbody is now only two services away from the 400,000 km mark and still going strong and doing it's job and no mechanical failures have occurred, I service it myself mahindras are serviced by it's dealerships and don't last past their warranties on average many claim to own a veteran mahindra, however on the rare occasions when you do spot them on the roads in SA they are new, you almost never find an older model since those have either been scrapped or waiting to be fixed, thieves over here don't even want to steal a mahindra with the keys left in the ignition since it is such a piece of garbage - however they'll go to great lengths to steal even a used japanese pickup let that sink in - also consider that at the time of release of this video praising the mahindra, other youtubers in the same category are also doing mahindra videos, because mahindra is running scared of the newer planned japanese pickup brand releases that will simply outsell mahindra's overpriced unreliable garbage, all manufacturers do paid for social media and video content, this is no exception

@@robertfonovic3551 you don't see Mahindras over here older than 3 years because they don't even last three years. Unlike other countries we actually put our pickups to constant heavy duty use. Changing the milage on an almost as new garage queen and then making a video about it is the same as a used car salesman saying "oh it only had an old lady driver and the ultra low milage is genuine"

Jim nicely alluded to it, but I feel that you could enhance your advice and give a "Jim like' comment e.g. these guys are (a) shit to deal with, (b) fair and reasonable to deal with (c) generally go above and beyond.

These aren’t comparable to a landcruiser. They aren’t the same class. These are best compared to an early 2000s hilux sr5. I owned a landcruiser, now I own a mahindra s6+. The mahindra is more closely related to my mates 2002 sr5 than it was my landcruiser.

Where I am in NSW is half way from Newcastle & half way from Ballina, these are the only 2 Mahindra dealers near me. I've only ever seen 2 of them on the roads. Yeah, they look butt ugly but 103kW from a 4cyl diesel?!? Surely, they could have scrounged an extra 50 odd kW from somewhere? The only thing I liked about this video is that they've done over 540,000kms & they're in okay condition. My mate's Mazda BT-50 has done over 400,000kms but he's had the same issues as all Ford Rangers have had. I reckon with a better powerful engine, they would sell more.

Looking underneath we were both shocked at the amount of surface rust on literally every suspension component, mismatched bolts along the driveshaft and nuts that were only finger tight...Oh..and the factory snorkel is only wafer thin that soon implodes on itself after a few years...Buy a SsangYong Musso instead.
