Absolutely BREAKS my heart :""-((( to think of what happened to Harold McLinton 4 years later. R.I.P.P.P...to a TRUE Redskin warrior & consummate professional, on and off the field!

The first Redskin game I remember watching was the last game of the year in Dallas. After the victory, I specifically remember the Skins ripping down the signs in Texas Stadium.

That was amazing. I am a lifelong Viking fan but I remember that game and I recall seeing that sign get ripped down by your Redskins.

Growing up in Pennsylvania i didn't get to see a lot of Redskins games but watching this video I remember how happy I was as an 11 year old when the Skins beat my dad's Cowboys in Dallas..

I'll say it over and over, Billy Kilmer was a tough football player. He may not have been smooth or pretty but he was a leader and a warrior who took a beating as a QB and never quit. Never had a losing season as a Redskins QB.

Kilmer was a great QB.

The Redskins of the early to mid 70s didn't have great athletes all over the place.. but they had a tendency to find high football IQ players. Smart players who were situational aware.

This would the final season that a Redskins team would make the playoffs under head coach George Allen. In Fact the Redskins wouldn't return to the playoffs until 1982 coached by Joe Gibbs which would also mark a new era for the Redskins as they would win the Super Bowl and their first league title since 1942 ushering in a new era of Washington Redskins Football.

Larry Brown still contributing, still playing all out as a roll player, Bill Kilmer and that busted nose I remember being allowed to stay up really late and watch the mud match on MNF.good times.

Larry Brown, John Riggins, Calvin Hill and Mike Thomas. Even thou Brown was beat up it was still one hell of a stable at running back. Go Skins!!

Thanks to George Allen, Larry Brown career was cut short.

@@mikevanriel7573 Do you mean he ran him into the ground? Because I honestly think Brown should have retired after the 74' season.

Opening narration is incorrect. I love NFL films and John Facenda was the best voice over talent at NFL films but the opening line here is incorrect. Maybe the script was wrong or John read it wrong but the playoff game at Minnesota was played on Saturday December 18, 1976...Not December 19. Otherwise this is an excellent video :) As a lifelong Washington fan I would love for someone to post a copy of the week 14 ( Dec 12, 1976 season) game where Washington beat Dallas (at Texas Stadium where they had never won) 27-14. There is some footage of that game in this highlight film but I would love to watch the complete game. Maybe it doesn't exist because not many people had Betamax or VHS in 1976 and I do not think either the networks or the NFL would have master copies of game broadcasts from 46 years ago. But maybe... just maybe...there is some sole out there who has Week 14 1976 Washington at Dallas on tape. If so then I hope you would consider uploading and sharing it. Thank you! :))

Been mentioning that game for a couple years now. It was the first Redskin-Cowboy game I remember and was hooked from then on. That video must be out there somewhere.

That was INDEED a hugeee win for the Redskins!! I remember yet, 44+ years later, being glued to my grandparents TV watching this game, as a 10~year old kid living WAYYY out in Montana, far far removed from the NFC East!! :-))).....Even up to now, I'd have to say that I've never, ever seen a rivalry on the level of, & as intense as, the Cowboys+Redskins of the 1970s & up to the mid/late '80s. It transcended whatever national region you were in, and also our loyalties to other teams.

The 1972 NFC Championship victory at RFK Stadium over the defending SB Champion Cowboys in my opinion was the greatest victory in this series between these two division foes .
