Hi, All tests I read from you give an idea of the sound of whistles for people 'on the pitch'. I hear the majority of the whistles is OK and preference is different for everybody. Since the whistles produce quite a lot of dB's, is there also a test that gives the nr of dB's that enters the referee's ears?

I don’t have numbers on how many dB that enters the ears but it’s probably not noticeable differences. The distance is so close.

🇧🇷 in Brazil, the most used one is the Fox 40 Classic by the referees in any kind of sports.

Even though I like regular whistles, the electronic whistles are better for me due to having asthma. Pushing a button is easier for me than being out of breath trying to blow. Thanks, ref.

when used indoors, it prevents the removal of high notes, so i think high notes are clearly heard better than low notes. high notes are removed outdoors, so low notes seem to be heard well.

However, low pitched sounds are much more pleasant to the ears indoors. Such as the Fox 40 Pearl in this video.

@@RefereeChannel pearl is a low tone in itself.. it is believed that the sound feels special to the user only when the molten series or acme660 is used outdoors.

I use the fox 40 pearl for routine stuff i.e. kickoffs, substitutions, etc. Sonic Blast for serious fouls.

@RefereeChannel I have them attached to each other so it makes it easier. I also keep a third in my pocket because last year, I had a fox40 crack mid game.

Yeah I thought that’s how you would have them attached. A whistle breaking is really unusual. Especially a Fox 40. Must have been a really big foul 🙂.

Is the acme tornado 635 the loudest?

Not on paper. It has 120 dB according to Acme. But it’s loud enough for any game. For example the Sonik Blast and Valkeen appear louder to the ear. They are all loud enough.

I have 635 as a backup or for small sided small field games. It is not very loud and very interesting tone. Sometimes even little kids can’t hear it

What the defrence between dolfin f and pro?

Dolfin F is for football. The other is for volleyball. Dolfin F has 4.15 kHz & 3.67 kHz and Pro has 4.10kHz & 3.74 kHz.
