Huygen's principle states that every point on a wavefront behaves as a source for secondary waves, whose common tangent (envelop) becomes the new wavefront. Using this principle, let's prove the laws of reflection

Can someone explain me how the angle between surface and the reflected wavefront = r
@user-qo2mo6cn4r
@user-qo2mo6cn4r 3 жыл бұрын
The sum of a triangle is equal to 180 degrees. We have a 90 degree and a (90-r) degree. For that reason the missing angle is equal to r because 90+(90-r)+M(missing angle)=180 => M=180-[90+(90-r)] => M=180-180+r => M=r. I hope that you find it helpful.

from 0:32 to 0:52 the purple vector is not normal to incident ray's wavefront. So in the end, the angles of directions (purple and yellow) dont seem equal.

Can't you do it with one ray? Why can't you draw a wave front with one light ray?
@sooyeah7367
@sooyeah7367 3 жыл бұрын
yes we can draw , becoz.. rays are perp to w.f but in this case we need to get the angles similar.. aand to make that simple we need to check for congruency.. hence 2 rays
@sooyeah7367
