Thank you, Senor Perchington! I went to FanExpo Boston last weekend. It had an odd set up in quadrants, floor one Halls A & B were vendors and 2nf floor Hall A was Celebrity Stuff and Hall B was Artist Alley. H.H. German of Sigma Comics said it's the first Con in a while he didn't sell out (HH, correct me if I'm wrong) I thought it was because everyone was spending money downstairs when he mentioned that. I made charming acquaintance with Jeremy Adams, of whom remembered me from our Twitter exchanges and Peter Tomasi. On the vendors floor, there seemed to be "four of Everything". Like only four comics sellers? and four different lightsabre tables? and prop guns and swords? I couldn't help but notice who wasn't there: ANY of my Local Comicbook Shops. I got 6 LCS in my area. Maybe they'll be at Wicked Boston Comic Con in August.

Yeah, I’m usually tired at a show, traveling sucks and I don’t sleep well in unfamiliar settings, but at least be nice to the fans! I’ve had a few shows where it’s slow and I didn’t make much, sometimes it depends on where you are placed, location, location, location! Last time I did Dallas I did well. Don’t be a stranger, hope your back improves. I know how much that sucks!

I'm thankful that the creators and celebrities I met were all pleasant, at least outwardly. LOL. I don't know if I spoke with the creator you're talking about, but Philip Kennedy Johnson, Patrick Horvath, Sabine Rich, Carla Cohen, Lucio Parrillo, David Nakayama, Tom Grummett, Dan Parent, Jomboy Meyers...they were all cool and seemed appreciative to talk to me and yes, sell me stuff. LOL On the celebrity side of things, I had Hayden Panettiere, Marisa Tomei, and Sofia Boutella sign comics. My favorite interaction overall was with Sofia Boutella. Such an underrated actress. And, of course, not known for comic book properties. But, she did Star Trek Beyond, and the comic series Star Trek Boldly Go, in part, continues her 's story. When I handed Issue 5 to her to sign, she had never seen it before and was genuinely interested in it. We flipped through the entire comic together as she asked me questions, including where I got it. At the end, she said she was going to have to get a copy for herself. Sharing the love of comic books. Isn't that one of the best things about the hobby?

You’re spot on about the artist alley there - it could have been so much better! The lines for some of the “bigger” names were nuts, but then I got to walk right up to David Nakayama, talk a bit and get 2 books signed. Like you, I was freaking out the whole time that someone was going to bump into me and bend my books! Thank goodness they had AC this year!

I’m all for creators getting top dollar for their work, but maybe the prices are why people aren’t getting many sales? Casual fans have been priced out of sketches and sometimes signatures.

People used to see photos of the creators in Wizard magazine so they were more recognizable back then. I also think dallas fan expo is marketing less and less to comics fans and just that celebrities from any popular TV(many not even that geek related) show are there

For us lifelong Texans, we’re a bit amused by this behavior… of people from west coast cesspools who come here welcomed by us, who voice how much they hate it here, who hate the people and traffic, and who pine for returning to their west coast cesspool. The first time you hear it yer greatly offended and confused, but after you’ve had a few hundred interactions like this you just roll yer eyes and think it’s probably that they’re not used to the heat.

"Go back to writing for Hollywood." It occurs to me that if you had success in Hollywood you would only write comics as a side gig. No one leaves Hollywood to write comics. That's like leaving a high-salaried position to go wirk at a cashier in a Mom 'n Pop store.

The only thing that bothers me about the crowds at cons is how few are actually interested in comics. The artist alley folks doing the best are the ones drawing fan art, not the ones selling their own comics. Otherwise, most of the con goers are very pleasant, and I always have great interactions, but midway thru day 2 my enthusiasm is flagging badly. I like the sales videos though I know it's harder now that data is so hidden. I'd also like a review of the Rippaverse so I can hear about it from someone who I trust not to allow their feelings about Eric July's politics to affect their review one way or the other.

Off topic; I see both Star Wars and Darth Vader are ending in September. If the next era of Star Wars is post Jedi, I might give them a shot. Depending on who the creative teams are.

@adamfrey4920 That happens to me a lot also. Usually, after you touch the video while it's playing. I've written to KZfaq about it (twice), but I never heard anything back, and the Video playback at 2x speed when I accidentally touch the screen, has continued. Hope some of the tech people at YT are working on this problem.

@@drewtheunspoken3988 The Phase 3 comics aren't doing much for me. Phase 1 heavily tied into the novels to the point that you kind of needed to read both. Phase 3 is just "Kreeve is still mad at Skeer" or something.

Yeah, every time I go to these cons there are some miserable looking people. Also I feel guilty going up to a table without buying something. But sometimes things are too expensive and I have no space for stuff. That’s probably why I’ve only watched Templesmith from afar. He always looks like he’s ready for a board meeting, very dapper looking.
