Thank you Thank you Thank you. My refrigerator water hose was so short, it would not pull out enough to work with and after 2 frustrating tries, I just cut the darn thing. The other hose was long enough. Anyway, I could not have done it without your wonderful video. Thank you!!!

You are absolutely amazing! I ended up breaking a clip but was able to manage it out thank you for the guidance. I sure wish my hoses were as long as yours but I still was able to get all of my five thumbs in there. Aloha my braddah!

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate videos that help DIY'ers and your videos are well made. However, even "easy" projects like replacing the housing which I have done twice, rarely go as they should. Thanks for the reply, I will continue to use your videos to help our family save money and I will order parts from Parts Select.

Before I order my parts, I would like to describe the symptoms of my problem to hopefully narrow this down. I haven't changed my filter in a LONG time (probably 2 years), but both the water dispenser and ice maker were working fine. As soon as I put a new filter in the other day, both sides stopped working. I tried letting it run for several minutes at different intervals and nothing happened. I also re-installed my old filter and it stopped working too. Now I have no water and no ice. It just seems to coincidental that it happened as a result of changing the filter. Would you suspect something is wrong with the filter housing OR the valve? I still hear the pump "buzzing" like it's trying to work. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the quick response. If I pull the filter out and leave the water on it does not leak water and the water dispenser/ice machine do not work, unfortunately. This being said, is it possible to put a coupling between the two hoses and bypass the filter?

Can you connect the two hoses that plug in to the filter and simply bypass the filter?

We removed the water filter to replace it and water came shooting out of the hole where the filter sits. It stops when we replaced the filter. When there is no filter there, water comes out like a faucet is turned on. We've owned this refrigerator about 6 years and this is the first time it's done that. Do you think we need a new housing or is something else wrong?

Our ice maker and water dispenser were not working so I replaced the Water Inlet Valve, now the water comes out good for a split second then slows to a trickle. We have tried two new filters with the same result. If the filter is removed, the dispenser works good but it leaks from the Water Filter Housing. So do you think its the housing or do we have two bad filters?

mine started to leak at the small pipe coupling why would this start leaking ? i did have more 1/4 line and spare coupling from a water inlet valve i had but it still leaked these couplinga are a poor design

Hey ! I was just curious if you could answer me this quick question My refrigerator faucet from the inside, the one that connects to the water filter is leaking after trying to replace the water filter it's self and won't stop leaking Any ideas why it won't stop leaking and also no fresh water comes out of the fridge to drink !!

I have a Whirlpool model # 6S6SHEXNL00. I don't need the water filter housing only the white spacer/flange in your video. No one can pull up a part# for this part. Thanks

Whirlpool do not show that part on any of their parts lists. There are 2 manufacturing numbers on that flange, 2186840 and 85-8308, and neither of those produced any results either. You could try contacting Whirlpool or a local dealer who may have a scrapped unit that you could get one from.

Whirpool was no help.(CLUELESS!). Luckily I found one from a salvaged unit. It's a shame that a $2 part could disable my ice maker and filtered water. Thank you!!

We replaced the water filter housing on our fridge today (thank you for the great video - very helpful). The white spacer / flange was missing when we took the old part out, so we installed the new one without it - seems to be working so far. We replaced the water filter housing because it had started spraying water everywhere when we replaced the water filter - and so I assume the valve on the filter housing was damaged. We'll find out next time we replace the filter, so we're good for six months :) .

Right, nice video if you live in a perfect world! First, the manufacturer never leaves enough hose to pull the housing out to access the inlet water lines. Second, there is no room to work underneath to remove the hose. Last, the coupling will not release the hose when you depress it. The only way to remove the hose is to damage the couplings. You make it look easy...where in the world did you find this fridge. EASY? I think NOT!
