Wow Oggie, another home run! Love the shading, really helped to create an authentic looking ship. As for the lighting, beautiful job. Don't worry about the green light, no starship is perfect and Runabouts are notorious for issues with starboard lighting :-)

A superb result, Oggie! I have to say, what I love about your videos is the crisp editing, and the clear, concise, no-nonsense narration every step of the way. So many videos by others are ruined by focussing that goes in and out, and a mumbling narration that sounds poorly planned and is ultimately very boring. That, combined with your readiness to show your mistakes and what you did to rectify them puts you at the top of the league, in my opinion.

Looks Fantastic Oggie, the comparison between how the model was to how it looks now is night and day. I had a similar issue with one of my Anti Collision lights too and didn't want to tear open the model to fix it. Thank you for the shout out too.

Great job. You can fix the light by drilling a hole from underneath and pushing it back up with a toothpick. Then seal the hole with putty and some paint touch up.

When you use the mineral spirits to take off the excess Tamiya panel line paint, how does it not take off the paint from the rest of the model? I've seen people use lighter fluid to remove the panel line paint also but I didn't know how they made sure to only remove the panel line paint.
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 6 жыл бұрын
You have to coat the model with a clear coat first in order to even apply the Tamyia panel line color. It no doubt protects the paint as well. Not sure if the mineral spirit affects the clear coat at all but the surface is once again recoated (with yet another clear coat) once I'm done.

I think you're referring to the pin vice although I can't seem to find the part of the video I used it on. I imagine it was to create the openings for the running lights. That was purchased on Ebay, I don't have the actual seller that I bought it from but there are quite a few out there. Thanks HG

I would enjoy having your assistance on the Star Trek Bridge. Having the screens back lite, Red Alert Flashing, and a lenticular panel on the main viewer, so it appears different at different angles. Maybe even a 2 Minute Loop Video. The work on the run about is fantastic. What other space ships have you done?
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. Building the Trek bridge can be a challenge on many levels and i'm probably not the best person to ask since I've not attempted it. I would ask for help on one of the facebook pages such as Starshipmodeler or Culttvman. Trying to light all of those screens would be a major undertaking not to mention video on the main viewer. I could think of a couple of ways of possibly doing things but It'd be best to obtain advice from someone who has actually succeeded. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Yes in fact I used Tamyia white putty on the forward and aft seams of the nacelles. Worked well. The Squadron Products putty was something I came across at the model store that morning and decided to try it. It dries faster than the Tamyia and works great when you a light gray model like this. Wow! It's beautiful. It's hard for me to say that because I never liked the runabout! Too much details, too much huge panels. Not elegant. And you have been able to make beautiful! I found only one imperfection! At 21:29 of the video I saw the blinking light of the nacelle blinking from the long blue window on the side of the nacelle itself. You forget to "isolate" the blinking light from the other light in the nacelle. "Nacelle" si the right english word? I hope so...I don't remember these star trek terms anymore.
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 6 жыл бұрын
yep that's right. I forgot to light block it from underneath the SMD. Same problem with the running lights. Luckily it's not as apparent as I thought it would be but it's the reason I wired up 3 switches so that you can turn them off.
