Thanks Christian....it took a while but yes, am back for 2019 :) I agree about weathering. I debated on weathering but the ships on the show were sparingly weathered so I decided to leave it in mint condition.

Interstellar Modeler I’m from the Star Wars era so when I see spaceships I see ships that are weathered. Looks a good kit but those decals would really test my patience.

@@chrispybee When Chris Trice restored the hero Hawk recently, he said that Tamiya Acrylic X-6 was a match to the original orange.

Hi…. Thanks for the compliment. Yeah the original kit was definitely a disappointment lacking so much detail. You’d be pleased with this one but a 1/48 scale is close to release. Looking forward to that one for sure

Practical science and OBEYING THE LAWS OF PHYSICS was never a big thing on Space: 1999. I mean the Moon breaks away from Earth and somehow ends up in another galaxy/sector within literally months?!? I've seen it more recently and the series was a joke from a writing standpoint. There were a lot of things that NEVER made any sense about Space: 1999 and I could see that even as a kid watching it in reruns in the 1970s and early 1980s! I guess I liked the intro and theme music but just totally tuned out during the episodes and got bored with it. I can still remember some things in Star Trek AT THE SAME TIME that made impressions on me that followed me for years. The Horta looked like "burnt pizza" to me and I couldn't look at pizza the same way for years. I've changed my mind recently and actually like THE TASTE of browned pizza better! Not much stuck with me from Space: 1999! I get that people like the vehicle designs of Space: 1999. Those were probably the best things of that show. I recently saw the compilation movies posted online and boy did that show never age well! It came down to the writing and lack of creative will to fashion a fictional universe that made sense and followed its own rules. Star Trek for all its faults with production (and even then the basics of the set designs were ground-breaking and STILL make sense today; the problem was the budget and materials they had available to fashion the future within TV confines) was more inspirational and DID have a clear set of guidelines and rules that series followed that MADE SENSE to people. That show made sense since the first pilot episode (and "The Cage" is far from my favorite episode, let alone favorite pilot, of ANY Star Trek series. My favorite pilot is "Where No Man Has Gone Before.") Star Trek and its rules were clearly established even if the characters hadn't been finalized. I haven't seen that care be taken with most science fiction series since Star Trek. I can't think of a single science fiction series beyond Babylon 5 that understood the basic rules that Star Trek set. Maybe The Orville but I haven't watched that show.

Thanks Raymond. I totally agree the new Hawk and Eagle kits are fantastic. They include all of the details we've wanted and more. No doubt the result of what happens when true fans are involved with production. Two people in particular have helped me gain a better understanding of what it takes to bring a kit to market,Todd Morton who helped with promoting the 1999 kits and Frank Winspur who was the president of Moebius models. So much is involved including licensing, machining tools/parts to make the kit, having to coordinate with the manufacturers (often overseas) and of course whether enough demand exists to make the investment. It's quite the endeavor. One guy to ask would be Todd Morton of Space 1999 Props and Ships but I haven't heard of anything regarding those ships. Thanks for watching Raymond.

Yes i think it would be very hard to see much of it. You would only get a glimpse of the interior through the main windows which you would have to cut open. I would see if anyone on the Space: 1999 Props and Ships FBook page has tried it. There are a couple of sample pics seen on the HDAModelworx website. I don't have a list but it wouldn't be very large for this build. Paints are just the Mission Models white and orange. Decals were the ones included. Decal set solutions Micro sol and set. I'm afraid I don't have any experience with this kit. If you search aerial killer hunter terminator on youtube there are a few videos of the model which you might find helpful. In general I would try to minimize any interaction between the glue and chrome painted areas. Hopefully there wont be any unsightly seams as this may pose a challenge to fix because of the chrome finish. Sorry I couldn't be of any further help.

Hi Richard...actually I've not tried Alclad's primer although I imagine it's not a bad idea since it's the same brand as the paint. I just used a gloss black spray paint on this one, something pretty generic. I can't recall the brand.

This silvering is really something I struggle with. They were most apparent here with the clear decals (those with only outlines). I applied them to a gloss coated surface followed by a mild dull coat and some of the still showed silvering. I'm sure this is because the surface underneath is just uneven allowing some spacing between the decal and the hull.

Hi, thanks for your kind comments and welcome back to the hobby. Of course my first advice is to have fun. If you're a little rusty or not as confident with your skills, start off with models that are simple to build. This will allow you to practice without too much investment in money and time. As for detailing and painting, for me getting into airbrushing made the biggest difference. I used to use rattle cans then moved to adapters that Testers made that provided a finer spray but ultimately, it was the airbrush that provided better results. Other things such as weathering and lighting have also come a long way but take it one step at a time. Good models to practice on for those skills are the Bandai SWars kits. This is a good time to get back into the hobby because there's so much out there. Many many kits that we could only dream of having as kids are now available so the sky is the limit here. It's called a FlexiDisplay but I would use with caution. Sometimes the rubber end pieces stick to your model. Not good. I only used this for the video. I plan on getting an acrylic stand to use in the long run. The base that comes with the kit is pretty lame.

I started with 400 grit sand paper then moved up from there to 800

Thanks. The stand was produced by Flight Pose. I tried looking for them but it appears they may not be making them any longer. I would however use with caution if you get a hold of one. I unfortunately have had problms with the silicone ends adhering to the paint and pulling it off when the model is lifted from the stand. Not good. Thanks again for watching

The Eagle is basically a workhorse...functioning as a transporter for a variety of tasks including passengers. The Hawk is purely a combat fighter. Faster, more maneuverable and equipped with a variety of weapons.

Try contacting Round2. They were pretty helpful when I had problems with the 1/350 Enterprise.

This is a 1/72 scale. The only other commercially available version was the MPC kit from the 70's. I believe the scale was close to this. Thanks

@@chichiboypumpi No worries. Over the years this has become a very popular model and for years we only had an inaccurate kit from MPC that was released in the 70s. There was a lot of excitement when this kit debuted because it is a completely new kit with very accurate details. It really is a fun one to build.

Round 2 made this kit to be in scale with the eagle kits. However the MPC eagle kits aren't scaled correctly so Round 2 is retooling th eagles in scale to the hawk kit. The new eagle kit with be 14 inches long now. Kit is expected to be released in November. You can find info in the news listing on Round 2's website.

I dont think that was ever intended so it was left out of the design.
