I love the build on the '71, brings back memories. I do notice one thing about the replacement gauge cluster from Year One, the one you are using is for the larger C50/C60/C70 series vehicles with needs of the vacuum gauge. I am sure that you guys know this but I am just pointing it out. There are many out there that have swapped in a factory gauge cluster out of a bigrig into a C10/C20/C30 or even Blazers and Suburbans and said that it was factory and it obviously is not...cool either way...

For the bed floor rust, a sheet of marine grade plywood over it is a lot easier and cheaper. To be fancy, some plastic snap together laminate flooring would work, or the self stick flooring from Walmart. I also like the ceramic brake caliper paint from an Advance auto parts store- $10 for a fairly large spray can.

I've literally never had good luck with Optima batteries. Especially if they go dead once it seems to kill them, unlike a regular battery that will recover after charged or driven.

My personal experience started with a friends car in the early 90's (1992ish?) with an Optima 'red top' in an everyday driver. That battery was involved in two head-on collisions before being transplanted into another vehicle. That battery was finally completely dead in the summer of 2003 and that MAY have been due to it no longer being in a car that was driven daily for about a year and a half. In ~'93/'94 I also purchased the same battery for my car. It too died in 2003 so I bought another. That one lasted 8ish months and was replaced under warranty. The replacement lasted about 18 months. In the midst of my fiasco, I purchased a second vehicle. 2003 Sierra 2500 HD with a camper option, which means it has two batteries so I purchased Optimas and in short, both of them were replaced under warranty within two years. No faults in the charging system of the vehicles mentioned, No abuse or misuse of the latter batteries in any form. The first two batteries (my friends and mine) sold dozens by word-of-mouth to friends and family as expensive but durable and reliable options. No one I know that I personally recommended an Optima to back in the day has had a favorable experience with a modern one. I'll end this now before I need to insert chapter numbers. Sorry for the length.

Air bags are such a crappy option for suspension. Don’t do this to your vehicle. Get the hydraulic set up. You can raise and lower the truck without compromising ride quality. Ride height changes but the adjustments you made to springs and dampers stays the same.

Don't know if anyone on here can help me out or not, but I was watching a video, I think it was on PN. I was half asleep so I don't even remember the name of the video or what exactly the type of vehicle in the video was. The only thing that I do semi remember is something about a book that talked about the assembly of a vehicle... kind of like a step by step type book. I think it was blue with a spiral spine. I think it might of also had part numbers. I was wondering if anyone might know the names of these books, who makes them, and how to order them.

Title marked, "odometer beyond mechanical limits" or some such wording. Some states automatically assume the odometer no longer represents the actual mileage after a certain age.The real crime there was dumping original parts just because the show is an advertisement for parts vendors.

No sound deadening rubber under, over, between, and on top of the cabin?!?! Wow all that work and you skimp on the stuff that turn your ride comfort from a Chevy 71c10 into a Bentley 71c10 and you literally oxidized the surface further by sanding it. It leaves pits of rust. It would have been so easy to tape off the good and sandblast the bad. Smh.
