From wheelchair to roller skating in 4 weeks 🛼

Today, we’ve got an incredible success story that will leave you feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference! 🎉 Meet this determined teen who, with the help of our FND program, went from navigating life in a wheelchair to confidently cruising around on roller skates! 🛼💪
Diagnosed with FND (including motor and cognitive symptoms) and POTS and ready to get back to school, she took the leap and came across the country to join for for a 4 week program of PT, OT psychology and yoga therapy
- PT 4x/wk
- OT 3x/wk
- Psychology 2x/wk
- Yoga therapy 1x/wk
And you can see in this progression where she went from needed a lot of sensory and autonomic supports (compression, wrapping, weighting, ball on body, backpack, etc). To not needing as much support-hello skipping and roller skating!
You have likely heard me talk a lot about our pie chart framework-where we dona deep dive on our assessment to truly understand the intersection of symptoms and which systems are most contributing. You can imagine with POTS and FND that the autonomic and sensory pieces were big! So, one of the key pieces of her treatment program was understanding her sensory system and needs and incorporating a whole of of sensory and autonomic training to help her regain control of her movement.
