A delightful little number from the classic compilation album 'Studio One Rockers' which featured various artists from the Studio One roster. Recorded in 1969 by Jamaican vibraphone virtuoso Lennie Hibbert, this is perhaps a very early version of reggae, although it seems to be a fusion of many styles. You can hear the the percussion is playing the Nyabinghi rhythm which is a traditional rhythm used in Rastafarian practice. The original bass part in this recording was played on double bass.
Studio One was founded by Clement "Coxone" Dodd in 1963 and was the first black-owned recording studio in Jamaica. From there Dodd pioneered the music styles now known as ska, rocksteady, and reggae.
The bass: Fender Precision 1970

Thank you! Pickups and alll other components are original. Strings are Rotosound roundwounds and very old, like 6 years 😁 Tone control rolled right back to zero.

@@MarcelStranis lol that’s the way paul Jackson would like it lmao. Old Roto rounds. Love the tone of your 70’s p. I’m trying to find a pick-up to aid that sound. I presume the dc output from a around 11k
