Lmfao it’s actually to make the paint chip different ways rather than trying to hit it in 1 direction which makes it look intentional and not really giving it a “old beaten up” look

There is some art to it actually. You can't just slam the rock on the guitar blindly.

Imagine being 14 yrs old with a new 1973 Gibson EB3 Bass with Cherry Finish, and you leave it in the trunk of a friends car after a gig, overnight in the fall. You bring it inside and to your horror, the finish begins to crack all over. The Bass still sounds great, but I will never for get my unplanned experience with a ruined finish.

For the lacquer checking you can get a can of the spray air for blowing dust out of electronics. Take the can and turn it upside down and spray the quitar finish and it will do the same thing except it does it right away instead of waiting days. If you do it with the spray air then it only effects the fish without the possibility of the different woods shrinking on the neck. There way could cause issues with the fretboard later.

Amazing! I think it works better when you do the opposite: heat it up and then to the freezer. I think it a chemical thing when the finish goes with the heat and dilates and the the sudden cold crack it. I did mine that way, I left it like an hour in the killer summer sun of S.Florida and then straight to the freezer! Perfect in one take! Coffee or shoe polish for plastics, put all the hardware in a little bag with rocks and shake it babe! Also etchant solution takes the shine away but it needs a little more of "expertise". Nice video!

@@DisabilityExams I listened to a interview about the Nova company they have I think 5-10 employees that make all the guitars. They go for those heavy grain ridges on the body which i got the impression was accomplished by using cheap, light, and young pine. It honestly looks like some of the cheapest and most common wood out there. Reliced or not that guitar will pick up dings real easily.
