I always liked Karen's voice, just the acting seemed off at times. I've never been a fan of Liza though, she makes her sound somewhat old and less-bright... I really enjoy Kate's performance. Her voice suits Ami very well, and can pull off her sweet and tough sides.

Kate's voice is so cute and very fitting. I liked the slight British accent Karen had but she sounded too old to voice a teenager.

My issue with Kate as mercury and Christina vee as Mars is. I have heard them in a million other things and I often hear them together. So I can't help but think of the other iconic characters because their voices are so distinct.

I like both of the Japanese voices. They catched perfectly the sweet side of Ami. She is the sweetest of the senshis afterall. 😉 I like Kate Higgins' voice for the English version for the same reason. She gives Ami a calm tone in the voice.

Damn, Hisako sounds so similar to Aya, although I have to give this to the latter - she nailed Ami's sweet and gentle personality but she also brought out her aggressive side when it really called for it. Same applies to Kate - there's also a motherly side to her take which fits Ami quite well. I wouldn't mind Ami having a British accent but hearing Karen's take, it does sound rather inconsistent and she did have some rather iffy lines work with. I'll give her this much though - at least she sounded age-appropriate and actually invested in the role which is more than I can say of Liza Balkan who made Ami sound like a wimpy and depressed old grandma.

Kate was Lissa from Fire Emblem Awakening, and Talho from Eureka Seven (which co-starred with Stephanie Sheh, Usagi's VA).

Aya as Maya Natsume (another role of hers) is such range. I can hear a bit of Ami when she voices the young form of Maya but mostly shes unrecognisable.

People keep saying that Kate gives her too much "Sakura-Esque" but I think its better that way. Kate gives Ami a unique, adorable, memorial voice that fits her perfectly!!! Why would we want a japenese teen girl to sound like an 80 year old british lady, genius or not!?!?!?!?! I think Liz and Karen are great voice actor, but not fit for a japenese teen girl, so Kate is by far the best as far as english goes. Japenese wise, both actresses are amazing :3

Judging by this video alone Kate Higgins sounds much more "Mercury like" in the Crystal dub as opposed to the clips from the original anime.

Karen's accent would slip in and out but Liza sounded a bit robotic. Kate Higgins sounds a lot more articulate and witty while still keeping the down to earth nature Ami has.

As dreaded as the Dic dub is--I love Karen's Ami performance. The way she emphasizes her constant sounds makes her sound so proper and cute!

Aya Hisakawa- Her voice fits her character, sweet and soft, I love her voice! Hisako Kanemoto- Her voice is okay, but it's didn't grow on me, it still sounds sweet and soft, so it's okay. Karen Bernstein- It sounds kinda nice, but to bad she was stuck with a butchered script, she gave a nice personality, so she did great. Liza Balkan- She sounds like a older woman, but she did her best, I felt bad for the script she had to stick with and the direction, but she did a great job. Kate Higgins- She gave a good touch to her voice, she captures Ami's voice perfectly, she my favourite English voice actress for Ami/Sailor Mercury.

I think my favourites are Aya and Karen. With Aya's soft voice, it feels like she really captures Ami's soft side, and it really carries lots of emotion with it. On the other hand, I don't think super highly of Karen's acting, but to me, her tone does give off quite a mature and bright character, which is always how I have just pictured Ami (though might be because it was how I originally watched the dub) Honestly, they all have great voices though ^^ They may not all suit Mercury, but they certainly have talents with voice acting.

Tbh Kate Higgins as Ami (and maybe Sandy Fox as Chibiusa) are one of the only Viz voices I really like. Unlike a lot of the other Viz voices Kate sounds very natural and not like she's putting on a phony voice or just imitating the JP version as close as possible. Karen Bernstein is good of course, that line about hearing people thought she was a "brain farm reject" is silly in writing but she legitimately sounded like she was crying. That's some good skill being able to pull off lines like that and make them sound genuine. (Referring to 7:46) Liza Balkan I feel like gets a little too much hate. She's not perfect but she does really well as a substitute. I honestly think Balkan's voice would fit an adult version of Ami perfectly.

haven't heard much from liza balkin so I don't really know much about her mercury but Karen & Kate are perfect Karen's British accent that she gave mercury really made her a unique character like terri hawkes did with sailor moon as for Kate people criticized her for just being the voice for sakura haruno in Naruto/shippuden well that may be true but she's gone on to play other great roles such as Chloe in glitter force which I find very unique that she plays both ami and chloe with both of them being the geniuses in the group

Kate Higgins seems to put too much Sakura-esque into it, and cannot see the voice fit the polite, soft, bookish, mannerisms that Mercury is and has. I like Kate, but compared to the japanese voices and Karen, I cannot do it. Aya Hisakawa is always Mercury for me, love her voice and mannerisms, do not really care for Hisako's take. Karen Bernstein is always English Mercury for me, for the same reasons as Aya. Do not like Liza at all.

Aya Hisakawa also voiced Baron Asura in Robot Girls Z and that homeroom teacher from the first season of Sound! Euphonium? And of course I know Kate Higgins as Nanoko-Sensei from Lucky Star and Chloe from Glitter Force (Smile! Precure).

My opinion - 1. Kate - She is my favourite Ami voice and I think she honestly suits Ami more than her Japanese voices do! She's sweet, but she knows when to be serious and brash etc. 2. Aya - She just has such a sweet voice! 3. Hisako - Very similar to Aya, but slightly too deep. I used to prefer her voice, but after comparing them, Aya is definitely the better Ami of the two of them. 4. Karen and Liza - I don't like either of their voices for Ami.

Kate are my favourite, but Karen did a great job as well! In the other hand, Liza wasn't so bad, but her voice sounds like a 30-year woman, not a teenage girl, so unfortunately her voice didn't fit Ami so well.

DIC Dub voices all the way, I now I'll get hate for it, but that is what I grew up with and still prefer it. The music for the first 2 dub seasons was way better than the original. Sure it had it's problems with censorship, but it was still the majority of our first encounter with the franchise so there is no way I could hold ill will towards it.

Only Aya's voice can truly bring Ami's character to life, and while Hisako's voice is also good, Ami is not the same unless she has that kansai accent, and that's something no one other than Aya can deliver to perfection

The fact both Aya Hisakawa and Kate Higgins played two characters (Mercury and Unohana) actually blows my mind

I’m tied with Karen and Kate because both sounds good. But I like Karen more because not only the British accent alone but she gave her more knowledgeable and personality while Kate gave her a soft and shy voice. I think I can imagine she fits well in Crystal Version. I think Liza sounds a little bit old for her.

Liz Balkan did very terrible with Amy. I mean, she just sounds horrible. She makes Amy sound like a wimp, and her voice doesn't suite her, whatsoever. I love the Japanese voices, and other English voices.

Am I the only one who likes Liza voice if she more practice she could have been the English Aya Hisakawa? Karen and Kate are pretty hit and miss though, more so Kate who usually sounds way too tsundere and the opposite of Liza that makes her good moments that much harder to digest especially when it's so rare
