F-Zero 99 is 100% sn experiment to gauge interest in the franchise

Nintendo should really just rerelease GX on Switch. You know, it would be cool to have an F-Zero mockumentary series where we get interviews with the various racers and what they get up to. Also even if the circumstances are different, Rick’s situation is just Fry’s in Futurama.

The problem is every F Zero title declined in sales starting from the SNES debut. It's such a shame. My favorite racing franchise. Top 4 favorite game series of all time.

Great video, deserves WAY more views! The anime could have stood to be a bit more plot oriented / faster paced, but I remember finding it pretty fun as a kid and the way it actually thoroughly expanded on the F-Zero universe was pretty cool. This reminded me that I we really need to get a new F-Zero game on Switch.

The fan service in this anime was insane. They remade so many tracks and even story mode mission that it definitely deserved better. Great video!

The thing with Ryu Suzaku is that in later episodes (30 onward) he does get episodes focusing on him being out of his own time, where he compares himself to his machine, since like himself no one knows where it comes from. And ironically the only person that empathizes with him is Zoda, after going through a moment of self reflection too. As you said one of the main draws for the show is its characters and also their relation to the world. Which I'm glad they handled these aspects as well as they did, considering how well alot of the main cast's personalities and stories are presented.

I love this show so much! I’ve watched it all multiple times. This is the f zero canon to me, the other doesn’t have enough story to warrant that, so this I what I consider to be f zero

Considering that the F-Zero anime is my favorite thing from the F-Zero franchise and one of my favorite animes of all time, I love hearing someone else being as passionate and liking the series as much as I do :D The show is a hidden gem that was just treated poorly. It's a must watch for any F-Zero and even any Nintendo fan!

They don't prioritize story and worldbuilding in their platformers like Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi. But in their RPG's and Adventure games like Zelda, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, a little bit of Star Fox, and F Zero, heck even Splatoon.

I discovered this show on KZfaq after having watched some GX related videos. I’m not really into racing or F Zero, but just out of curiosity I decided to check it out. Not turned off by the initial episodes, I eventually roped my brother into watching it with me (since we were both fans of Captain Falcon from playing smash and were curious as to how the anime would portray him). I don’t think either of us expected much of the show, but somewhere along the way we got genuinely invested and kept watching till the end. And man what a show. I’m not sure I could call it amazing (as in, I could recommend it to a lot of people) but for what it is, it’s very entertaining. The main thing that I would criticize is one of the key setups of the show, that being the mobile task force itself. Perhaps they thought kids would find this boring, but I expected there to be a lot more planning and strategy involved in how they would race together and work in unison based on the tracks they were racing on and the different strengths of their vehicles. Instead they have pretty much one strategy, Jack and Ryu rush to the finish line while everyone else diverts the competition. Not only does this get somewhat repetitive, it also kind of makes the other members feel underdeveloped (at least as racers). And yeah, I get that the star of the show needs his time in the spotlight, but it’s not as though the show is hesitant to develop other characters or have Ryu not win the race every now and then. That’s the main long running issue I had.

This channel is an underrated gem.

Hey Jak. Didn’t think I’d be commenting, but I am. I do say that I think this series kinda got on a really bad footing. It was essentially a reboot with a pair of new games to go along with it, and since the 1st game and the anime came out in the same year that GX did, you can probably see why it didn’t do super well. Plus the fact that it had major competition on the network they were on didn’t help things. The later releases in 2004 (GP Legend in the west and Climax in the East) were also coming out around the same time the DS was about to launch in both Japan and US respectively. And like you said, 4Kids was never gonna be able to save this show or properly advertise the software based on this show. Plus the 1st GBA game and the show had completely different continuity and was made extra confusing when Climax tried to merge the two continuities together. The end result was 2 games that combined still sold about as well as Chibi Robo Zip Lash. On a console that already had 1 F-Zero GBA game. Like, they aren’t bad games. They even have better soundtracks than Maximum Velocity. But I’m sure most American and Japanese fans werent interested to slap another $40 on a gameplay style that was not only completely outdated, but didn’t even represent the show or the gameplay style most fans wanted at the time. A real shame this series went out with a relatively decent title, as it didn’t really feel like it was in anyway climatic.

I felt 4Kids destroying F Zero is what caused the localization to be cancelled similar to how One Piece’s 4Kids dub was canceled after they finished the Baroque Works Saga.

I watch this show last year. Definitely about an 8/10, though the reasons why are probably why other people would probably rank it lower. Also, I feel like the final episode should’ve been a two parter, as it felt a bit too fast paced.

The real actual reason F-Zero never returned is because GX didnt sell gangbusters. No really, thats the reason. Miyamoto's "innovation" excuse is just that, an excuse to touch F-Zero again, not the reason F-Zero stopped.

1:15 I don't agree. F-zero x was much better in general. Since the first game you had amazing and original music. In gx you have generic techno music which doesn't fit the series at all. And the story Mode is almost stupid difficult and it sucks that you can't just play through. Every time you made progress you have to leave, go to customize, and buy the new chapter. I mean seriously, who thought this would be a good idea. You have to buy the fucking story Mode? You don't get much money in the first place and there are plenty of things you can buy to have the full experience. You even have to buy the racers. I mean it's just bullshit. Gameplay is good and the tracks are awesome but this game is miles away to be the peak f zero.

4kids was technically was on by the Pokémon company at the time the Pokemon company sever their ties with them around to 2006 around the 90s all the way up to 2006 four kids was technically owned by the Pokémon company which means Nintendo who also owns the company is technically 4kids part of Nintendo, but not really they’re still independent but still and at the time round, funimation they sure did full metal alchemist oh one but still, they were technically a newbie anime studio this is the Nintendo kind of awful company for any other party or that isn’t part in Nintendo yeah, I doubt it allow funimation dub it

In their defense, yes, it does have potential for world-building, but the Japanese version should do a better job developing these worlds/chars instead of being a rush job; which is why I consider them WORSE than the English dubs. And while 4Kids was a poor choice, I have nostalgia for that in the FoxBox! They tried, sure, but...ever since FoxBox got assimilated into 4Kids TV, THAT was its ultimate downfall, not just for the co but F-Zero too. FoxBox is a lot more lenient w/ failing shows than its future counterparts! And for years I wanted the anime on Toonami, not sure bout Funimation since the merger. So...I think people are too hard on the anime and series. I mean, take a look at the fandub of the Final Lap in F-Zero: Overdrive! And also my podfics while you're at it! Also, SEGA should take the helm like it did w/ GX, cause I doubt Nintendo can do it justice w/ Japanese George Lucas!!

f zero was a pretty fun racing game but it's not as fun as mach rider.
