Tony Dow, You gave me a lot of pleasure in your show leave it to Beaver. I'm rewatching it now @ 70 years old. Takes me back to my childhood, both my parents are deceased now and I lost my 19 year old son 33 years ago. I wish the world was like it was back when I was a child. Your show reminds me of those happier times in my life. I know you are deceased now and I'm so sorry your no longer among us. But you gave so much pleasure to so many of us when you played wally in leave it to beaver. Thank You Tony Dow (WALLY) Rest in peace.

Sounds so familiar to me at 68 I lost my only child 9 years ago. A 24 year old boy that I think about daily. Leave it to Beaver reminds me of my childhood too and I watch it every day as I have a little brother 3 years younger in real life and I can really relate to each episode. Our parents were a lot like Ward and June and we often called them that. RIP Tony Dow and thank you for being you. Amazing how this show is still watched worldwide by millions of viewers.

Wally Cleaver really epitomized the roll of a big brother. A talented actor who had the skill to transport a person watching reruns in the new milmillennium, to late 50s, early 60s suburbs. Great talent by any standard.

I've started watching LITB at night when I'm going to bed and I love it because all the old sitcoms are just so comforting. But since I've started watching it, I've realized that Wally is just about my favorite character, he is hilarious. I love how it was so clean, and they had such respect for their parents. Those were such sweet times.

I am 75 years old. "Leave it to Beaver," along with the many other TV classics were an influential part of the early years of my generation. There was a sense of decency about these shows, a promotion of good values, character, integrity. While real life, even in the fifties, was not perfect, Hollywood at least tried to present a good face, with positive role models. Later on, as we all have witnessed, Hollywood went for the controversial, grungy, tasteless, crude type of humor. If it weren't for reruns, we would be stuck with the crap that reflects Hollywood values today, and TV would remain the wasteland it has strived to be.

I saw Tony Dow in a gas station years ago in Santa Monica gassing up his Porsche and almost died! He was still dreamy but I just lost my voice! I couldn't say a thing! I so regret just not saying Gee, Wally! Years ago my sister and I drove past the Beaver's house in Santa Clarita and he was out mowing his lawn! My visiting niece almost lost her mind!

@@susansquier2435 I stood very close to singer Harry Chapin and was too shy to speak with him. Years letter his brother performed in upstate NY. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him!! I mentioned how shy I was and wish I had spoken to Harry. I actually saw him twice. Being a secretary at our local college I am sure someone would have arranged a meet and greet. Anyway, Tom said he loved his fans and posed for photos, etc. and probably would have asked me to dinner! Since that happened several years ago, I am not afraid to speak if opportunity arises to meet them. I have met and talked with several stars over the years. Very fond memories 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

One of my favorite episodes was when Beaver lost his hair-cut money and then tried to cut his own hair. It was a mess! Then Beaver persuaded Wally to help him clean up the haircut so that their parents wouldn't find out. Wally made the haircut even worse. So the two boys decided to wear stocking-cap hats to hide their antics and said it was a club initiation.

It always saddens me that every time there's a KZfaq video or any other reference to Leave It To Beaver that my old childhood buddy Stan "Whitey" Fafara is left out. Stan and I were inseparable from ages 12 to 14. We attended a private Lutheran school in North Hollywood from 1962 to 1964. I was the only kid in that small school who never called him "Whitey", I always called him Stan or Stanley. He appreciated that, and so he and I bonded. A few times the Leave It To Beaver episodes were filmed in the huge park across the street from our school and Stan would invite me (only me) to hang around the set. I got to meet all the key actors, including Jerry and Tony. After Stan and I left that small Lutheran School in June of 1964 we went to different high schools so we fell out of contact. We were only 14 years old so we couldn't drive yet which made it impossible for us to stay connected. Decades later I learned that Stan started hanging out with Paul Revere and the Raiders (one of the groups who opened for the Stones in 1965 in Anaheim, the first of many Stones concerts I attended) and he got into booze and drugs. Sadly not an uncommon thing for child actors abandoned by Hollywood. Then in 2004 I learned that Stan had died in 2003 in obscurity and poverty up in some Oregon town, and that he was buried in an unmarked pauper's grave. I wish that Tony and Jerry would honor Stan's memory and contribution to Leave It To Beaver. Stan was a good kid, very sweet, very vulnerable.

As a kid at 8 yrs of age, I watched "Leave It to Beaver" and it was my favorite show--and it still is. Of course, I now have favorites like "Breaking Bad", "The Sopranos", "The Office", etc. but there's something special about Leave It to Beaver. Now I watch it daily on Xfinity's new Peacock streaming service.

That was great!!! I was born in 1949 so I remember when LITB started in 1957. It was such a great tv show that I am still watching the reruns today! I was 13 years-old in 1962 and really thought the older teens with cars and chicks were really cool! LOL!!! So my favorite episodes were from the final season when Wally, Eddie, and Lumpy were always getting into some sort of trouble. Like when Wally and Eddie hooked a chain up to the rear end of Lumpy's car and attached the other end to a tree. When Lumpy drove out of his driveway the entire rear end of his car was pulled out! It was classic Lumpy Rutherford...getting out of his car in the middle of the street and yelling, Daddy!...Daddy! Ahhh...what great memories. I think Tony Dow is about 4 years older than I am, so it was really great to see him on your show.

Richard Basciano his friend Gilbert said it was real soup in the bowl and of course he dared Beaver to climb to prove it wasn’t calling him chicken. I think it was Whitey who talked him into making the face in the photo.

I knew Tony as a young tech/grip/gaffer working on the set of "High School U.S.A". A definite "so bad it's good" B-movie but ironically, it was the pre-screen test that established MJ Fox and Crispin Glover as future stars. A lot of "older" TV stars like Tony, Dawn Wells, Bob Denver, were glad to get work so it was great to be around them on set. Tony was the warmest and most genuine of any actor I've ever met. Completely unpretentious and despite his fame in the 50's, he never traded on it or acted like an aloof star. Glad you're no longer suffering and RIP Tony. And anyone who wants to watch Tony, MJ Fox and Crispin go at in in a "proto" version of BTTF, definitely check out "High School U.S.A"!

There were a lot of lessons to be learned about life from that show. that is what I really like about it and always have. I am about 8 months younger than Jerry Mather and I remember that show very well. My kids have watched it and some of my grand kids as well. I think it was the best show of that type on TV back then and better that the trash sitcoms on TV for the past 20 years or more.

I've lived through many of my favorite TV stars passing...John Ritter, Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, etc. They were all sad in their own way but Tony Dow's death has really brought me down. I don't remember ever getting this emotional over an actor/actress death. It's almost like I knew him but we never met. It's hard to explain.

This has got to be the very best family show EVER on tv. I grew up watching the original running of the show and still watch it on METV every weekday morning. Excellent acing and writing made the show stand out and last all these years. The Cleavers and all their friends seemed so real and relatable. Just loved em all! I cringed whenever I watched the Brady Bunch or any of the later family situation comedies after the Beav was on. Never liked any of them except All In The Family. Yep, Leave it to Beaver set the bar! I was surprised to see the episode the other day that had Wally and the Beav inviting that homeless guy into the house and feeding him. Ward and June raised a couple of good, empathetic boys!
