Remi, I’m a manager of a bridal shop in Virginia and we have dresses from a size 4-30 in store so anyone can try on!! It’s so dumb when places only carry itty bitty sizes. Also, wedding dresses typically run small so most people measure a size or two bigger than their normal pant size! Hope this helps. Love you!! 💓

Hi Remi! I am a married girl of 6 years! I am normally a size 10-12 on an everyday basis for NORMAL dresses. Just be mentally prepared that for whatever reason, wedding dresses run SMALL! My wedding dress ended up being a size 16 which was discouraging at the time, but you know what girl. It’s just a fucking number. I looked snatched in my dress, my husband balled at our “first look” with how I looked in my dress. You will look beautiful regardless of the useless number on the dress! My suggestion would be to expand past the cute boujee LA boutiques and look up places that carry curvy/ plus size dresses! That way they will be dresses of all styles, shapes and sizes and you can get a large variety without shooting down the morale of the day! I’ve always been the bigger friend in my friend group so I remember feeling nervous to try on dresses because of how they would 1) look on me, 2) if they would even fit. But the right boutique will make you feel like the queen you are!!! Can’t wait for the content! Shine bright love!! 💜🤍

Not a white dress, but the mother of the groom in a wedding I was in wore a hot pink dress after the bride told her the 'bridesmaids are wearing pink so please wear anything other than pink', it was absolutely a jab at the bride!

I completely feel remi on that. I’m getting married next year and finding a place that has a variety in dresses has been so hard. I know I shouldn’t feel embarrassed to have to go in and find my dress but it’s something I dread about the planning.

The decline of physical books is so real. My little sister is in high school and they give every kid a laptop now. All her books are digital so hopefully she has less back problems than I did back in high school! 😂

I just got married in May and Remi and I are similar in size. A lot of the bridal shops I went to had samples in size 10 and size 20 so I was able to try on plenty of dresses (honestly I tried over 100). Most bridal designers are super size inclusive, it’s just about finding shops that have samples in a multiple sizes. Tbh I wouldn’t want to support shops that only carried super small samples anyway. ALSO, my husbands aunt wore a white dress to our wedding. I truly didn’t notice until we got our photos back from the photographer. Even if someone wears white/off white to the wedding, all eyes are on the couple and we didn’t know or care day of!

Hi Remi! When I went dress shopping both stores had a range of 3 size options to try for each dress. One for really petite, one for midsize and one for plus size girlies. They asked my size before going in so they would know which one to pull for me so I wouldn’t have to worry about things not fitting me.

I can really relate to being worried about wedding dress shopping being a mid-sized girly. I was terrified when I went to try on dresses; luckily all the places I went (in WI) were all size inclusive. The experience made me feel so beautiful and was very emotionally healing. 😊

Hi Remi!!!! Thank you so much for talking about wedding dress sizes. I relate to this so much. I went dress shopping in September for my wedding, I was so fortunate that my dress shop carries plus sizes and they made me feel so beautiful. I had anxiety for about a month leading up to the appointment thinking that I would feel huge in every dress, but I did not feel that way what-so-ever. The stylist I worked with made me comfortable and if I didn’t like how one looked on me, we didn’t walk out and show everyone! I think a lot of shops do carry larger dresses now, so I would call ahead to see. But just know… you are going to be absolutely stunning in those dresses. You will be surprised and that’s coming from someone with super big body insecurities. I had such a positive experience and now looking forward to my wedding day… where before I was terrified of not looking like the standard bride you see on socials.

Here in the mid west where we get snow the school build in snow days to prevent going to school longer than your supposed to. If you use more snow days than expected they will either extend how long your in school or they will day a day “off” away to make up for the missed snow day

I used to work at a bridal salon in Canada. We carried mostly sample sizes. It didn’t fit anyone perfectly. They needed clamps or spacers depending if it was too big or too small. Occasionally your back would be exposed but the stylists do their best to cover it with the spacer/ binder.

Minnesotan- we had 5 free snow days per year for school! Most of them were used on ‘cold days’ when it was like -40 and the buses wouldn’t start 😂 any more than 5 days and they would tack it onto the end of the term

I’m a November bride & I was first told that most wedding dresses are made in European sizes so it’s absolutely normal for your dress size to be above your average pant size. Garnet & Grace in Whittier, CA is where I got my dress and you buy it off the rack (you can take it home the day of) but had plenty of sizes!!

i graduated last year and everyone got chromebooks/laptops and we use those for most of our work, we’d hardly get worksheets. also they start giving the laptop to send home in 3rd grade. on the laptop there’s a program called class link and it has every app we need including McGraw Hill book apps.

47:30 When I was shopping for my wedding dress, I was also nervous for the same reason! Most stores across the US only stock “street size” or “bridal size” aka sizes 8-12 (& bridal size is typically 2 sizes bigger than your regular dress size, just so you know!!). They will pull dresses in the styles you like, and then will just use clips to keep it in place so you can get the general idea. My dress did not fit properly until I ordered it and got it tailored, and that is very common! They will then order it in your size, it will come in 2-4 months later, and then you take it to a tailor to fit it to your body. This was in Virginia, but I’d honestly imagine somewhere like LA would have more inclusive sizing ranges available to try on! I still felt beautiful and at ease trying on dresses despite being a 14/16 at the time ❤

The thought about dress sizes is so valid! I just tried on dresses in August and I’m a size 8-12 in jeans depending on brand! I felt like every boutique I went to had petite and plus size! This is in Dallas, Texas too! I did struggle because I’m like in the middle of sizing and I had to squeeze in a dress that was too small or they would use clamps to show me bigger dresses! If you have a kind consultant… they are going to do everything they can to make you feel comfortable & confident 🤍🫶🏼

Married gal here.. I’m a size 12 so right in the middle of the lineup, and the store I went to had options in a lot of sizes to try on. But you can always call ahead of time and let them know your size to confirm they have lots of options for you! So frustrating when all a place has is tiny sizes!

I got both of my prom dresses from Ross. Junior year was yellow (staples and satin-y) and above the knee. I got a lot of compliments. Senior year was floor length and also strapless. It was all black and the top had a light pink ribbon.

More inclusive stores will have like a sample in 4,10, and 16 at least where I’m from. But they also have clips with elastic that you can put on either side off the zipper so that it stays up and fits closer to what it would in your size! Either way you are going to be a GORGEOUS bride ❤️

From a cold state…the school accounts for snow days so it isn’t “tacked on” at the end of the year! The only exception is if there are like 5+ snow days.

I wore a size 14 dress (wedding dress sizes do not equal regular dress sizes) and I had no problem. I just read reviews before I went. Also a lot of the women who work at the bridal shops were so nice and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable.

Hi rem! I know other bridal experts have commented but I wanted to put my 2 cents in too!! I’m in the Chicago suburbs at a bridal store that has been around for 50 years. I’m also at the time in life where a lot of my friends are getting married. My biggest suggestion for finding stores that you are drawn to is check their sizing and see what designers you like, those should both be on any website! My store carries sizes 6-24 in standard sizing, or 10-28 in bridal sizing but there’s a store down the block that is really exclusionary that only carries up to a 12 in bridal which is a standard 8. Like others have said, you’re usually 2-3 sizes up in bridal. Like I’m a standard 10 and I’m almost always a 14/16 in our gowns. Fitted dresses usually the 16 bc ya girl has big hips hahaha I also always tell my friends to try 1-2 shops, see how you feel and if you find your dress, then go try more if you still aren’t feeling it. Some people will shop FOREVER and then they get so confused they don’t know which way is up, which is more stressful than fun!! Always remember this should be a fun day! When you start feeling overwhelmed take a step back and when you find a dress that you can’t picture your day without, take the leap! Sending love 🩵🤍🩵🤍

So advice to Remi (and other brides to be): I am also planning a wedding with 2 years in advance. In my case it seems that everything is still available in my area (venues and other vendors), but I still went ahead and booked my venue so much in advance because I was scared to loose a good date. The advantage of doing that is that some places might just offer you the price of the current year for a wedding happening in 2 years, so you're saving money! Also, you can book your venue and your favorite vendors with 2 years in advance, and just let everything else for later - because most small vendors such as invitations, bouquets, etc will probably not give you a quote so far in advance. So maybe just choose a venue and other important big things (like DJ, photo/video, dress) in advance, so you are sure to get what you want, and then you can relax for a year and start planning the rest later closer to the date :)

I tried on 70 dresses before finding the one. Everyone was telling me I’m making things complicated and I was just going to confuse myself but when you know that there’s something you specifically want, you sometimes go to the extreme to find it 😂 some of the dresses I “liked” when trying on, i actually don’t like anymore when looking back at pics. It’s a weird thing to explain lol
