Nothing short of amazing! This is another example of why I carry this round. It's been around for nearly 40 years probably, and yet it's still superior to other modern designs.

@@TheMagnumChannel you have to try the Underwood 357 125 fmj it goes 1700fps. But its a fmj,still devastating

That is where 357 mag got its reputation from that Remington 125gr that was loaded to higher pressure in the old days like 1700 FPS from a 4in barrel ,the lead at the point is softer than the lead at the base because the tip explodes and the base should retain about 70-80 grs.

The Remington 125 grain SJHP 357 Magnum does not expand in a target when its shot from a long barrel firearm,... It explodes!

I carry a Taurus 605 .357 magnum snub nose loaded with this same round. Yes shorter barrel less velocity but I can still average 1,200-1,280 fps velocity. Not bad for a snub nose!!!

you should definitely do the Hornady Critical Defense and/or Critical Duty if you do more of these tests in the future! I personally would like to see them in .40 cal, but the 9mm might be more popular as its the more popular caliber for carry.

I have Critical Defense in my G23 as I type this. I like the the fact that it's a warmer 165g. load, instead of the 180s. Plus, it's about as close as you can get to guaranteed expansion; clearly, the sjhp design is a winner as well! The .40 and .357 are my only carry rounds.

125gr Bullet at 1500fps from a 4” barrel is amazing. That would destroy a two legged predator.

@@brianblackburn-author7531 Of course, I've used the 110 & 125 grain loads on small predators like raccoons possums many times & a few coyotes all it took was 1 shot. A bit messy but at least it's an instant & humane passing.

If ya reload Midway had them in stock. I got 2K of them. It is a start. My favorite round. Try full load of H110 and just hang on.

I bought 10 boxes of this round at Wal-Mart prior to the ammo shortage. Thanks, your video confirms my choice is a good one. 4" SP101. Cheap ammo but effective.

This is one of the scariest 357 magnum rounds ever made, it's what I keep loaded in my Ruger GP100 6" stainless at night.

There is nothing that walks or crawls that a 125 grain SJHP 357 Smith & Wesson magnum round will not handle very well.

Oh yeah, the advertised velocity was measured from a 10" SAAMI-specified test barrel. That is what I said. :)

Thank you for providing content and info for us shooters. I think that 38 special tests in general are more interesting than 357 because 357 seems to perform well consistantly and no matter witch brand one uses while 38 can be hit or miss .....
