Harry, I think this has a future. Nothing is quicker/stronger/cheaper. For a larger shop or home, the membrane would have to hold more pressure and would be expensive but could be reusable. A specialized truck could contiguously mix resin concrete, a large computerized are could spray the concrete and you could coat a 3000 square foot building in 2-3 days with 2-3 workers. The resin concrete and mesh would be very expensive, but nothing else would be needed on the exterior. I'm thinking a true dome would be stronger and safer, but wastes living space, but has lots or storage space around the low sides.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Bob! Yes, many benefits, indeed. As for space - reg. furniture, cabinets, etc., it may be custom designed to use space acordingly without any waste. Just a big reminder to many who overthink this portion of process - no need to worry.

Nice job my friend! As you said, concrete needs to be kept moist during the curing process in order to reach full strength. If it dries out then the curing stops and cannot be re-started by watering it down again, the mix you show here is probably 5000psi (1 square inch of fully cured concrete that will hold 5000 pounds before collapsing/crushing) If you were just to build this and let the concrete dry it would only be about half as strong as it could be if you kept sprinklers going on it for 28 days.... Even at that strength you could probably park a car on the top without it breaking....

Love the way this came out.. I also totally agree with you about building these structures completely made with aircrete.. Although I really like the look of the aircrete dome made with aircrete blocks.. I have always worried about those structures not being strong enough structurally.. building the domes this way, gives you a hard structural shell, and if you choose to use the aircrete you will have those awesome insulating factors that aircrete provides.. as well as knowing that your structure is going to be more than strong enough to handle any of the elements that mother nature is going to dish out..

ABSOLUTELY BROTHER!! 💯 WELL put Together 👍 👍 Appreciate your Comment. Indeed! Thank you! In Counties with Building Codes - building just an Aircrete Dome (without any structural shell) won't be approved. Places where no building codes are required - and Aircrete Domes are built without any additional structural shells, etc. - those people are taking a high rist living in the pure Aircrete Domes. I would not recommend it nor ever feel safe having my family live in one.

I saw a video (I think it was one of yours from a few years ago) of making aircrete panels on the ground to be assembled into sheds or similar, and that just made me think of aircrete octagons and polygons(?) which can be made in molds at ground level and them easily asembled into dome structures and cemented together, and a few could be left open as windows. I guess for a taller structure you could use square panels and then the shapes to add a domed roof

you say if you put cement that it won't be grounded... but I've heard of other builders say that you can apply an earthen floor on top of a cement slab and have it grounded. i want to do this in my house but i don't know what those builders where doing to ground an earthen floor on top of cement. for my house since it has a brick exterior i was thinking where the weep holes are at the bottom of the brick walls that I'd just fish some copper wire thru each of the weep holes thru the wall and then down onto the cement floor... i was also thinking about taking either copper or aluminum foil tape and taping a line on the cement before i applied the earthen floor... i'd position the tape to come out from where ever my wire is and place the wire on top of the copper or aluminum wire and tape the wire in a couple spots to make sure the earthen floor doesn't get between the wire and the foil. but the earthen floor does have a section or 2 of wire it is exposed to. the tape would just be run from the outer wall of my house straight until it hit another wall. the wire on the outside of the wall as it is coming out of the weep hole. I'd just dig a hole as deep as i could/thought was enough, and tie it to rock or something so it can't easily get pulled up and then barry all of it. well... that's the plan anyways... i have no idea how those earthing people grounded and earthen floor... i just figured if grounding mats work with a thin wire getting connected to them... and they are connected to just a foot long stake in the ground... then..... a beefy copper wire barried should work too.

Have you thought about putting another tyvek tent around it and pumping in aircrete to finish it up? I know it would defeat the idea of making the dome super thin, but it would make for a great build method. You could even make a dome of basalt mesh to go in the space between and add another layer of mesh to strengthen it even further. Also you could paint the inside with a base coat to infil all the cracks and cover up the tyvek print. I would also like to see how you could add plumbing and electrical to a dome like this.

Aliphatic Alcohol can be applied to freshly placed and screeded concrete surfaces. It forms a chemical film that reduces the rate of water evaporation and helps to control premature drying, which results in reducing or eliminating shrinkage and plastic shrinking cracks there is also under hot weather conditions, the combined use of class F fly ash and type D admixtures is to be recommended. @@AircreteHarry yes, I was responding to your comment in your video to someone who might use aircrete insulation bricks in a dome system. I agree with you that an inner structural shell is the way to go. Someone employing that ideo could use aircrete bricks and just dry stack them against the structural dome, and then put an outer dome over the dry stack insulation layer. Yes, I have done several domes, including ferrocement domes and vaults, laminated cement vaults, acrylic-latex hypars and vaults, brick and tile vaults, among many other building systems, including adobe, rammed earth, concrete, and more. I like your airform system. I've used flexible fabric based forms for thin shell concrete, but never on an airform. I do see how that approach would be very fast and effective. You could do far more complex shapes with airforms, as you know, as well. You have excellent content here. Keep up the great work.

@@AircreteHarry It depends so much on context and materials. The last house we built we did a combination of several methods, as it was partially buried and built in the mountains of Mexico, where materials can be hard to find. So, I try and use whatever we have the most of nearest the site. My favorite method is fabric formed laminated cement, which is similar to your system, as you are using an inflated airform for the fabric form. This is great for roofing systems, and your methods appear to be very fast and efficient. The way we do it is that we hang the fabric gore, coat with cement, and then invert it once it sets up, so you achieve a perfect catenary shape where the shell is in compression only (reduces reinforcement needed). Then, you assemble these gore panels to create your shell (or sometimes pour in place). We usually do vaults, barrel and groin vaults.

Why use aircrete bricks? Why not just spray the aircrete over that dome? I want a smooth, monolithic dome, without shaving/shaping bricks. I could wait four weeks before spraying aircrete. Am I missing something here?

Aircrete is not sprayable. It has to be poured into a form. OR You may do My Double-Shell Aircrete Dome Build - by making two Hard Shells with a cavity to pour Aircrete into 👍

@@AircreteHarry Ah- thank you! I had made a little doghouse with aircrete and I ended up using plastic to keep it in place on the dome while it dried. I thought I'd just gotten the mix wrong. Now I know!

@@AircreteHarry Have you checked your website recently I tried to access it and it says “service unavailable”. I tried accessing your website even prior to this. It is showing 503 error , an error you get if the site is down for maintenance. Pls do resolve the issue at your end. Also please let me know about the form generator. I am keen on form generator without the compressor. Please do let me know how much it cost in dollars. I am in India and looking at making dome shaped buildings for my resort. I have been following your KZfaq channel for a long time and I am seriously interested in airCrete kind of construction for my resort. I also liked the aircrete panels You have made. I am in India and in a place called Kerala and Have a resort called the Ranch Kanthalloor Kanthalloor in Kerala, India. It’s a beautiful property overlooking a hill with a lot of mist and Is a touristy-location. Lot of people, including me or taking inspiration from the kind of work you are doing. Air Crete Definitely looks like is cost-effective and exactly the kind of Construction that I am looking for my resort

There is only one problem, in my area where I live in Pennsylvania we have crazy building codes, you would never get away with this structure

I must disagree. My Dome building technique would be approved even in your area.

Hello Harry, I'm a long time fan, but I've never commented till now. I live in Arkansas where we get a lot of tornado's and straight line winds. As you know much of the danger posed by a tornado/straight line winds is not the wind but the debris picked up by said wind. I was wondering if you ever tested one of your domes using the system the Texas Tech University, National Wind Institute, Debris Impact Facility developed? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gNVogtiCusnUd6M.html

Welcome to the channel Scott 👍 Glad to have you here, brother. Thank you for being a Loyal viewer!! Remember to keep the comments coming, it helps the channel!! THANK YOU ! At the two minute mark in this video, would be more the way a dome would perform. I'm building with 2 inches of concrete reinforced with mesh and rebar. With a 6 inches of epic for insulation on top: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bZ2naMlnrK3FkYE.html Here is a video of the EPIC material in action: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y6yTab2JvbS5dWg.html
