Hey Henry Sanchez, to be honest: I don't know the number. I always use my nail polishing stick from the drugstore. Here I use the grit marked with #2 first and work my way up in the numbers. I guess these nail polishing sticks are everywhere the same. Just get one. These are very helpful. Sorry, I can't help you more than that. Cheers!

do you think the meguiars compound would work?

Hey Vexxie, sorry, I don't know that compound. Before I had the Tamiya stuff, I used ordinary car polish. It works, but not that great. And in my opinion it needs much more effort to have a good result. You should invest in the Tamiya stuff. But you don't need all the different ones. The FINE one ist all you need in my opinion.
