Like most people, I always thought a 911 would be the ultimate car. I scrimped and saved for years to buy a 997 C2S, when I got it I never really gelled with it, I was so disappointed. I sold it when I had a family and bought a Clio 200 Cup as a toy and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in any car (had Golf GTIs & Rs, Cupra sub8, Audi S4 in the past also) and I will NOT part with it. You’re right, seriously undervalued currently. Great video, keep them coming 👍

Nice one haha. I actually loved driving the 997 way back in the series, but as someone currently running a hot hatch daily as well, they definitely allow for more usable performance

I'm going to stun you. I own a Ferrari 360. I can't get on with it, mainly because it's left hand drive its just never worked for me. I'm selling it. I bought a 197 recently very cheap. I absolutely love it and easily having as much fun (in a different way) with this car. I love it.

Hi mate just wanted to say what a wonderfully honest and true review you have made. Im a 197 cup owner its my first renaultsport product and i couldnt fault your assessment. My car is my daily driver, its not showy or loud nor fast, i treat it with respect and it provides lots of fun and enjoyment even at 30mph. I was lucky to find mine and i had actually been viewing a couple of fn2 civics at a garage just down the rd from where i found my clio. As soon as i saw it i knew i had to buy it. They ride so well and the turn in is ridiculously good (to me at least) very basic and no fuss, i really do like mine 👍. Good to see berrow/ burnham on the map too, weve been holidaying there for years and years with our kids 👍👍

As a Dutchman, I've always been jealous of the UK prices for Renault Sport cars. Mine set me back nearly 10 grand in Euros 3 years back. Worth every penny though, such engaging cars. I'm keeping mine stored in a garage for use on the weekends when the weather is good as I don't find it a very good daily driver (you have to rev it quite hard to get the power out of it), but when you have it out on the open road where you can rev it out, it's a brilliant car.

Great review and one of the most honest ones I've seen regarding the 197 variant of the Clio I have a Liquid Yellow R27 and it's my draem car. Can't get enough of it whether it's driving to the shops or one the track.

I drive a Clio 182 and I concure, unless those cars are at temperature, they're a bit rough, especially the gearbox. But after 30min of driving, it all comes together.

Ive owned my rb197 for 3 years now. I would say that a custom map makes these cars more enjoyable. Sorts out the possible dip a lot feel in lower revs and makes the engine come alive. I think the rest you’re correct about, love mine. The figures don’t show it but it’s the cars ability to carry speed through bends that make it feel quicker than the numbers would suggest. That and a really good brake setup.

I've had a Megane 3 RS cup for the past 7 months now, done roughly 25000mls on it and it honestly has not put a foot wrong, its also tuned to 306bhp and completely reliable. My last service I had to replace the drop links but thats it. I owned a 435d BMW before that and although a lovely car I would pick the Renault every day of the week and its a hell of a lot cheaper to fix then a beemer. Its my first renault ever owning and it certainly won't be the last. Could not say enough good things about it, don't get me started on the way it drives, OMG its an absolute dream man. Great review by the way, I had actually always compared an rs clio to a type r civic but I have to admit I have a soft spot for an ek9 type r, a real screamer.

Nice, I'd love to get my hands on an R26 for a review, and once I do I'll have covered all three of my favourite hatches. Megane R26, Golf R32 and Focus RS. Keen to see how good the first gen Audi RS3 is as well...

I would have preferred the Clio R27 with a lower, stiffer suspension.

Shame it was ~150kg heavier than previous 182/172 models, kind of blunts acceleration and they never make book figures on power 😅

The 1*2 never made book power either lol. They aren't about going in a straight line anyway.

Le v6 lui manque que les turbo de la safrane bie turbo et des 4 roues motrice la v6 prv est pas terminer à savoir c est une voiture de projet de vies pour s amuser mais ils y ont mie les moyens à terminer pour moi il lui manque clairement les bie turbo et les 4 roues motrices 👉☝️

It's a known fact that almost all Renault Sports cars can be an investment. Now that RS is dead, Alpine petrol cars out of the window. Heck even my late phase 2 Clio 4 220 Trophy got a bump of ~4k euro in price value in the last year. But I do think the top of the line versions of each generation with low to medium millage and good maintanance will be quite expensive comming 2026 or 2030 when all new cars will be EVs!

well... if you're prepared to buy one with 100K+ miles on the odo then yes, you might be lucky and get one for £4k, but that's a lot of money for those miles on the transmission. After a quick browse on AT the price seems to be a lot higher in general, with lower mileage examples at £8K and above.
