Restoration of a Corgi Toys Renault Floride, showing strip down, paint and re-assembly.
The Renault Caravelle is a sports car manufactured and marketed by Renault for model years 1958-1968 in a single generation as a rear-engine, rear-drive open two/four-seater designed by Pietro Frua of Carrozzeria Ghia, using the floorpan and engine of the Renault Dauphine. Outside of North America and Britain it was, until 1962, marketed under the nameplate Renault Floride.

Just found this! Absolutely terrific period metallic finish on that car! I was under the impression that the Floride was a hardtop and the Caravelle came as a convertible, but that might be wrong. Object lesson in engineering the wheel reassembly: you should be marketing those hub closers! Very interesting video.

La Régie Renault dévoile avec succès la Floride (ou Caravelle pour le marché américain) au salon de Paris de septembre 1958, puis un an plus tard au salon de l'automobile de New York 1959 (le nom de Caravelle est inspiré des avions français Caravelle de l'ère du jet de l'époque). Présentée en janvier 1959 à New-York, la dénommée Caravelle est bien placée avec un prix de vente à 4 000 $ ; elle est considérée comme une sportive (125 km/h). Le nom de Caravelle a été choisi en référence au nouvel avion commercial de Sud-Aviation et aussi pour ne pas mettre en avant un Etat par rapport aux autres (Floride-Florida). The Régie Renault successfully unveiled the Floride (or Caravelle for the American market) at the Paris Motor Show in September 1958, then a year later at the 1959 New York Motor Show (the name Caravelle was inspired by the French Caravelle planes of the era of the jet of the time). Presented in January 1959 in New York, the so-called Caravelle is well placed with a sale price of $4,000; it is considered a sports car (125 km/h). The name Caravelle was chosen in reference to Sud-Aviation's new commercial aircraft and also so as not to highlight one state over the others (Floride-Florida).
