Hi all. I present to your attention the harbinger of the future family of electric vehicles on a modular platform - the conceptual crossover Renault Morphoz.
The main feature of the concept is the transformation function, which allows you to use the car in two modes: urban City and highway Travel. And we are not talking about the banal switching settings in the menu. To switch Morphoz from one mode to another, a visit to a special station is required!
Switching from City to Travel mode means lengthening the front of the body with an increase in the wheelbase by 200 mm (from 2.73 m to 2.93 m): the "insert" is located in front of the bases of the windshield pillars. The resulting space is used for an additional 50 kWh traction battery in addition to the standard 40 kWh battery. In addition, the fifth door changes to a new convex one, which allows you to increase the volume of the luggage compartment, which will be very useful for a long journey. Also, the front fascia pops up. As a result of the transformation, the total length of the machine increases by 400 mm (up to 4.8 m), while the width and height remain unchanged (2 m and 1.55 m, respectively).
The road, by the way, is really long: the cruising range in Travel mode reaches 700 km, while in the city the charge of a standard 40-kilowatt battery according to the passport is only enough for 400 km. After returning from a trip, the SUV can be driven back to the station and returned to its original form. In this case, the removed additional battery will be recharged and subsequently installed on another Morphoz. The return of the electric motor in the economical city version is 136 hp, and in Travel mode it increases to 217 hp. Drive - only the front.
Other highlights of the concept car include Level 3 Autopilot, an interior with a swivel front passenger seat, rearward-opening rear doors, a wide retractable dashboard screen, and a separate 10.2-inch display located in the steering wheel. Renault Morphoz can be configured not only for personal use, but also to entrust the right to manage an extended circle of people, where you can include friends and family members, forming a “car sharing for your own”. The car detects which of the users is approaching it and meets it with special light signals. It is enough for the driver to wave his hand in the direction of the car, after which it opens the doors, automatically adjusts the pre-selected interior lighting, seat and steering wheel position for it.
Of course, such a car will not reach the conveyor. The conceptual Renault Morphoz only reflects the development vector of the brand's future electric vehicles, however, it can be used to draw a conclusion about the design of the upcoming Renault production cars, which will go into series within a few years.
